we took a flight from barcelona to Malaga and then took a bus from outside the airport. The bus drops you right outside the road leading up to the hotel. Please beware that you need to climb up about 100 mtrs up a steep hill to reach the hotel.

the best part about the hotel is its proximity to a lot of eateries on the main road. all types of cuisines can be found on the road. the beach is literally 10 mins walk and is pretty clean. the cable car is also a walkable distance away- about 15-20 mins. the cable car was the best thing we experienced in benalmadena.

the hotel pool was also nice and clean.

all in all we would recommend this hotel for families and couples. nice quiet clean place!

Stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks with my wife, and anything we requested from our travel agent was fulfilled by the hotel, including sea views and top floor.
On the second day, we asked if we can upgrade the bed and breakfast to bed and lunch, and we were asked to pay a very small price difference for the 2 weeks duration. A price that we were more than happy to pay, for the variety of food that was on offer, in the form of a buffet.
The room was very clean, towels changed 7 days a week, staff were very helpful and friendly, and the entertainment was enjoyable.
The adults swimming pool was large, there is also a childrens swimming pool, and the garden was mostly grass, nicely decorated and big. There were plenty of activities for the adults, including, Tennis, Footbal, Shooting, Archery, Table tennis and water polo (on the shallow end).
Brian the entertainment manager, in particular, worked very hard, to get all visitors to participate in all the activities that the hotel offered, and was very popular. He spoke perfect English too. When Brian was not around, Marie, his helper, did her best to cover.
The evening shows, arranged by Brian and Marie, were very entertaining , we particularly enjoyed the comedy sketches and Flamenco show.
There were also plenty of activities for the children, including evening shows, such as magic and parrot shows.
The hotel is only 10-15 minutes walk from the marina, and less than 5 minutes from the beach, with a lovely walk by the sea all the way to the marina.
Some negative points, the hotel is located on a rather steep hill, but only for a very short duration. The beds, though seem to be new and firm, are very squeaky, but did not bother us too much, as we were comfortable in the room.
This year, our kids were on their own holiday , next year however, we have decided to bring them with us, to stay in this hotel ,now that we know , it is child accommodating for them as well.

Room Tip: The hotel is comprised of 2 buildings, one with 9 floors, and the view from the top floors is breath...

I stayed here the summer of 2010, the hotel inside is very nice, clean and sophisticated looking. The room was nicely decorated and the gardens were nice to suinbathe in. The choice of food was good, especially breakfast which can be poor abroad. The walls were very thin so take earplugs if you don't want to be woken very early by families going for breakfast around 7!The downside was the area, I did not like benalmadena as the resort is basically situated along a VERY busy road, so on an evening you can't enjoy a relaxing drink as it is noisy. The marina area is lovely though, definitely the place to be, unfortunately we didn't find this until towards the end of our trip.

(July 2012) It's not a bad hotel. The good points: a good swimming pool (quite deep - so good for swimming, but not for children), clean rooms, tasty food, friendly staff, the lift. The bad points: to get to the hotel from the beach you have to walk about 0,5 km uphill, so it's not definitely for elderly people (too tiring, however, for the young, they might lose weight...:)...).Unfortunately, the animation is not very interesting, and mainly for the Spanish. However, I liked the animators and I appreciate their work. The price for water in the hotel too high - 1,5€ for a bottle.
The hotel is situated in Benalmadena, quite close to a very beautiful port (in fact, fabulous....!!!). You can walk from the hotel to the Teleférico - the cableway, which will take you to a peak; spactacular views on the way and it's not very expensive). Tivoli Park - I don't recommend it.
You can take a bus to get to La Línea (but only from the one bus stop where you can buy tickets), the city next to Gibraltar - worth visiting.

We stayed at the San Fermin for 10 days in July ( two friends in our twentys). Accomodation is basic, we found it quite claustrophobic, it is rather cramped, however spotlessly clean.Bathroom is fine with plenty of hot water and a hairdryer.Rooms were cleaned daily & towels changed,I thought it appalling that during our 10 day stay the bed linen wasnt changed once. This hotel is totally aimed at spanish tourists , the television had only 1 english channel and this was news. The nightly entertainment again all spanish which is fine for music but anything that requires audience participation is out if you dont speak the language. On that note, if you plan to have an early night this place is out of the question as the music is extremely loud and dosent finish until after 12, so if you have young kids beware. The garden and pool area is great, kept spotless and well maintained, you do have to pay 2 euro for a lounger but people should know this before they go,anyway its quite handy as there isnt the usual early morning push for loungers. The food is fine, something for everyone, it can be repetitive but plenty on offer. The staff are very helpful and all have good english. The hotel is located at the top of a steep hill which we didnt find a problem, I could see how it may be a problem for the elderly during peak sunshine hours. As for the area itself I wont be going back, we found the nights to be on the boring side and no real entertainment or live music in the area for what is supposed to be peak season. Overall this hotel is fine for a cheap sun holiday, you get what you pay for.

My husband and I and our two teenagers returned to Ireland last Tuesday, having spent a week in the San Fermin hotel, with half board. We plan to book this hotel again. The hotel, although not the most modern, is very clean and well run.The staff are lovely, friendly, very helpful and efficient, The food is lovely with a wide selection of mostly Spanish type dishes. The rooms are quite small but were fine for us as we had two rooms. The pool has lovely gardens with plenty of room for sunbathing and we prefer this to a sun terrace with no grass by the pool. The hotel is on a quiet road with little traffic and is quite central to everything. There is a short steep hill down to the main street and beach which are close by. If you are old or infirm, you might struggle to walk up this hill. The marina is about a 10 minute walk away. Bonanza square is a 5 minute walk away. There were mostly spanish staying there so the entertainment was more geared to them. That was fine with us. The entertainment team of Brian and a 'Chica Bonita' worked hard during the day and night. All in all, we would recommend this hotel for families, friends, couples. If you want a 'young & lively' hotel, do not stay here. Also. the mojitos were lovely!!! We will definitely be booking this hotel again

Room Tip: There are 2 blocks together in this hotel. I would prefer the block with 5 floors instead, unless yo...

We stayed here in June 2012 for a week; we booked after seeing the reviews on Trip Advisor which leaned on the side of value for money - but you can do far better with your hard earned cash, believe me. We're not demanding, or insistent on having things Anglicised for us, but this took the biscuit.
There was a coach load of Spanish kids who quite frankly ran amok, running up and down the corridors late at night with little supervision. When they descended on the dining room it was like a plague of locusts had visited - the staff were very slow to replenish the food -and the children would barge you out of the way if they thought they could. Extremely rude. I was talking to another Brit, who was on a return visit, but he said he would not be returning after also putting up with the amount of children in residence.
The food in the dining room was limited to say the least; whilst I would say I tend to be a fussy eater, my other half is not - and some nights even he struggled to find something he wanted to eat. One day we even got ham and cheese as a dessert!
We asked a rather surly man on the desk to move us away from our ringside view of the entertainment as it was incredibly loud and the windows are single glazed - he told us the hotel was full when it clearly was not. The lady there took pity on us and got the manager, who agreed to move us. To an empty floor in the other block. Which was great, but just rubbed salt in the wound that Mr Surly had lied to us.
The staff seemed grumpy - unless you were Spanish in which case they were charming.
Just when we thought we'd got rid of one coachload of kids, another pulled up, along with a coach of special needs/learning difficulty adults. Whilst I have no issue with these people and indeed am used to working with them, they tended to descend upon the dining room en masse which was a bit disconcerting.
We have had far better quality rooms, and food, than this for less money - they cater predominantly for the Spanish. We normally get on with everyone but we found the reception staff rude and unhelpful.
The fact that it was at the top of a hill was no problem for us - it's good exercise - but when you look at it from the outside it looks like a poorly built council flat estate.
Very disappointing overall.

Room Tip: Away from the entertainment/children or you will not get to sleep.
