“Lovely hotel.”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

My husband and I stayed here for a week in early June on a bed and breakfast basis. We couldn't fault the hotel. Lovely and clean. The maid came in every day. The breakfast was good. We did have two school parties holidaying at the same time as us, so it was a bit a noisy at times.

We stayed here as a group, and had rooms allocated together. Stayed B&B for a week. Plenty of choices for breakfast, and was very nice too. Good base to stay at and venture out from. Cardiac hill was not that bad, just take it steady. Worth carrying on up the hill into the old town, we had the best tapas up there. Some good deals on meals can be found in Bonanza Square a little bit up the hill. Average hotel, but it was cheap. We will go back again.

We stayed three nights and our car got vandalised on the road outside the hotel.
Wife got food poisoning too. Daytime Receptionist gave wrong info when asked where the nearest Police station was. Hotel has few parking spaces available.
on the plus side , Breakfast was good as was the room we got on the 1st Floor.
Food was average for a 3 star and the price we paid.
We will not return here.

this was a last minute holiday with my boyfriend for 5 days, the first thing that we commented on when we arrived was the dated appearance of the hotel, which i'm sure if this was updated, would give you a much better first opinion.

The rooms were large & clean with a big enough balcony, much needed air conditioning & there was also the added bonus of free wifi throughout the hotel.

We had originally requested a room overlooking the pool & were given a room on the 2nd floor right by the pool, but when realising that you would have to have the curtains shut all day so as to stop everyone being able to look right into your room, we asked to change rooms & were given a room on a much higher floor with the must amazing view looking out onto the sea :-)

The hotel is situated at the top of a large hill but we didn't seen to have any problem with this, plus there is the fantastic Bonanza square when you turn out to the left of the hotel with fantastic bars & restaurants & one of the best chinese restaurants that i have ever eaten in, the Chino Panda & also Johnnys Bar, fantastic bar which was great for watching the World Cup & served a great full english.

We stayed B&B & the breakfast was ok, tho didn't eat in the hotel at any other times.

The only things that i would say were a problem was the amount of Spanish children that seemed to descend around the pool at about 11 - 12 everyday & also the fact that you had to pay €2 euros for a sun lounger which weren't that fantastic.

All in all though it was a good holiday & a not bad hotel which had surprisingly comfy beds & polite & friendly staff :-)

Don’t let the dated front facade of the Hotel San Fermin put you off; the rest of the hotel is a gem. My Wife and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday there and found: The hotel staff pleasant and efficient: The rooms small but very clean with daily housekeeping: Wi-Fi is provided free throughout the hotel: The food is good and the menu varied: And prices are reasonable: The pool and large garden area has plenty of space and is a great place to relax.
The location is also good not too far from the beach and Marina and far enough away from the busy areas to avoid noise. There is also a small square up behind the hotel with some bars and restaurants. The hill up from the beach is not for the faint hearted but is manageable. There are two well stocked supermarkets and a gift shop on the hill.

Room Tip: Rooms high up and overlooking the pool (Odd Numbers) have a good view. Our room was 533.

Maid service the best I have ever experienced. Fresh towels and bedding every day. We stayed B and B and the breakfast was good and varied. The hotel is located at the top of a hill but there is a superb bar and restaurant called Lilly Langtrees at the bottom which you should not miss. Excellent home cooked and good cheap beers. Would recommend.

The only downside was lots of Spanish kids round the pool but the hotel can't really be blamed for that - their teachers sat in the bar while they were running wild.

Stayed here last weekend with my husband for a cheap weekend in the sun and this is exactly what we got. Bear in mind we paid £170 for 3 nights half board for the 2 of us.

Location = Set on a hill less than 5 minutes walk to the beach via quite a lot of steps and 10 min to the harbour. Once you reach the seafront/promenade the area is flat. The hill is pretty steep but wasnt an issue. Lots of touristy bars and restaurants at the bottom of the hill or a few tapas bars if you went further up! We had arrived by train from Malaga and a taxi was 6euro from the station.

Hotel & rooms = Our room was fine. Typical 3 star hotel room with pine beds and dresser, mirrored sliding robes and brightly coloured bedding. Hairdryer provided. Shower was good. Balcony was small and unfortunatly our view was of the bins outside. Spotlessly clean and towels and linens changed daily. Public areas were well maintained and the toilets both indoor and by the pool were immaculate. The exterior could do with a lick of paint.

Pool = Great pool for swimming and also just to cool down and splash around. Sunbeds were 2euro each but this for us was a great idea to stop the dreaded rush for beds each morning. Most people laid on towels on the grass. There was a small kids pool and also a few childrens toys etc toward the back of the gardens in the shade.

Entertainment = We did nt get involved but there was a few activities during the day, rifle shooting, water polo and mini disco and hotel run shows at night. There was a seperate hotel run mini club for kids near the pool but I didnt notice many kids using it.

Food & drink = Food in the restaurant was alright, standard hotel food. It was warm and edible and a different choice each night. Breakfast was good with a selection of hot & cold buffet & plenty of fruit and criossants. The food from the pool bar was brilliant for lunch and cheap with a toastie for only 2.40 euros. Pints of san Miguel 2.50 and a happy hour each day 5 - 6pm with 2 for 1 drinks!! The whole resort was inexpensive for food & drink.

I did lots of research before I booked this hotel as I am a travel agent and the San Fermin is the cheapest hotel in Benalmadena but a great option for those on a budget.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view rather than sea
