Just returned from a week at Hotel San Fermin. The hotel was clean and tidy, we hired a fridge (they call it a mini Bar,but it is an empty fridge) at €3 and a safe at €2.50 per day. The staff were friendly and efficient. The room doors did slam rather noisily occasionally but I have yet to stay in a hotel without any noise. The pool area is very nice with lawned areas to sunbath on, much better than just concrete as with lots of hotels. The balconys were more than adequate for 2 people, we sat out some nights with our friends, that made 4 people and there was enough room. The only negative was the food, it was edible, did not upset our stomachs but was dull and uninteresting. Beef was never an option, pork every night, fish and chicken some nights. Vegatables very limited, usually only one option. The wine and water in the restaurant were reasonably priced. We would stay at this hotel again but would budget to eat out occasionally.

Stayed for 7 nights May 10. Rooms are very clean, no safe (unless you want to pay 2.50 euros a day) and no fridge. Modern wooden flooring, daily maid service. Only get BBC World News on the TV (no other English speaking channels). Balcony adequate and west facing with sea view as requested. Walls in the room are VERY thin, saying that thought only two nights did we experience disturbing noise (room next door talking until 3am and doors slamming/people coming in from a night out making noise). Made sure to stomp on the floor and slam my door at 7.30am when I went down for breakfast tho :)
Dinner is served until 10pm so perfect if you are a late check in like we were.

Food was average for a *** hotel, breakfast very greasy but 'crispy' bacon was on offer as well so take your time at breakfast to locate everything. Evening meal OK, fish, paella, veal, plenty of salad. Service in the dining room was prompt and everything very clean.

Pool a decent size, plenty of room beside it for lounging, can hire a sun bed for a day if needed.

Hotel evening entertainment a bit ropey as expected but only popped in there for the odd drink.

Internet/pool table, darts and TV room in the hotel as well as free luggage storage. Cigarette machine reasonably prices in foyer too.

Hotel is located approx 10 min walk from sea front and central to the Benalmadena main 'strip'. The so-called 'Cardiac Hill' isn't bad at all, it's quite short but steep. Maybe a problem if elderly or having to push a pushchair.

Benalmadena itself is fantastic, our second visit, very clean and safe. Cheap drinks and food averagely priced.
Gator land is worth a visit (get to hold a baby alligator) and Taxi there is approx 8 euros.

Fuengorla zoo is a must, can catch regular bus (costs about a euro each) but be warned gets v busy be prepared to stand, only takes about 1/2 hour to get there. The Zoo costs less than than the Dolphin Park in Benalmadena and it's a lot bigger and better.

Walked back from the Zoo to Benalmadena it's a long walk about 3 hours but worth it, a nice walk along the sea front.

Chesters Bar on the main strip does a quiz Sun, Wed & Fri with free shots, nibbles & bingo, very friendly and a good night.

We stayed here for two nights from 7 May, was on a stag do so was not really bothered where we stayed. However on arrival our mind was changed. The room was very clean, not much sign of wear and tear, the bathroom spotless, again no faults. The bar area, outside all first rate. Staff very friendly indeed. The breakfasts (Those who managed to get up) was as good as i have had at dearer places. For 33 euros - bed & breakfast i will def stop here again the next time we are in the area. As for the surroundings, hey people should know what to expect with the hills, so again no problem.

Where to start ......... CARDIAC hill! .......... says it all huh, disabled or older people beware! Hotel very dated, looks and feels a bit run down and in need of refurbishment.
Rooms very small and tatty looking, the hotel was clean, just tatty.
Small balcony's and very slippy baths, you have to hang on to the rail while you shower!
The swimming pool is quite big but you have to pay for the sunbeds .... agreed only 2 euro's but hey thats 14 euro's over a week and if there are a few of you .....! stops people putting towels on them and coming back mid afternoon I suppose.
Food in the hotel was very poor and the choice very limited, came home much lighter which was the only plus .... haha.
The worst part of this hotel was the noise!
Coaches dropped people (french and Spanish) off for overnight stays every day, the noise in the corridors was terrible.
All night long the hotel doors we banging shut and believe me I mean BANGING!
Very VERY noisy.
This is not a hotel to use if you want a quite holiday!
The resort itself is quite hilly but there is an amazing park near the windmill island which is stunning. The marina is also very nice and there is a little train that meanders around the town which is well worth the 4 euro's as it includes a return journey.
Buses and trains are very cheap and easy to use.
Beer varies as always, cheapest 1 euro and the most expensive (in malaga town) 4 euro. Coffee and brandy around the 2.50 / 3 euro mark.
Weather was lovely last week 28 degrees.

Spent 5 nights here over Easter - had fabulous weather which helped but the hotel itself was great. We had got a good deal so didnt have high expectations but I must say we were pleasantly suprised. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds and pool area well kept . You do pay for sunbeds but it means theres always plenty of them!
We were on a B&B basis and found the selection very varied and were given the choice of a cooked or continental or both - its self serve. We were there over the Easter weekend as were a great many Spanish guests so I dont know if that made a difference however there was a good choice and always plenty despite the number of guests!
The rooms were clean had good storage and we had great views. yes theyd benefit from a little updating but we werent in it enough for that to matter!
Cardiac Hill is steep but its thankfully quite short and we tried a couple of alternate routes and cardica is preferable. I cant see anywhere on that coast which doesnt involve a steep hill at one time or another! Great location for beach, prom, and bonanza square. Close by bus stops and banks. Once you get your bearings you realise its close by Arroya too ! Taxi rank outside the hotel makes getting about very easy!
We too were there when the parties of kids were there and they were noisy and did hinder our sleep but I guess thats a rare occurance and I wouldnt base my desicion as to whether to stay here on that alone!
All in all we had a fab break and would recommend the hotel for the location and cleanliness.

We stayed here the first week of Apil this year and had a good holiday.

The hotel: very clean, staff were always polite and helpful, only down side was the amount of school parties staying in the hotel on the same floor as us they had a tendancy to be rude and disregard other guests, they would shout down the corridors and slam doors all the time day and night, I suggest asking to move to another floor if this happens to you!

food: we were half board and the food was good, breakfast was a simple continental buffet and dinner was hot and cold dishes with enough variety. you have to pay for drinks with the evening meal but they are not expensive.

Sun beds you have to pay for sunbed by the pool 2 Euros each per day however the grass area is fine for sunbathing.
Safe: you also have to pay 2.50 Euros per day for a safe which we didn't expect!

Area; we found the area very safe and central to the beach, shops bars and restaurants, close the to the marina where there is lovely mexican place to eat. we caught the local bus to Malaga city centre which was really nice and also to torremolinos centre (!.35 Euro each) for some cheaper shopping options.

we would stay here again but make a point of staying on a floor or 2 away from the school parties! :)
