“Loved it”

We spent ten nights in the Flatotel recently and couldn't have been happier. We did have a hire car which was a big plus. Even though the bus stop is outside the door, I wouldn't like to depend on it when it was over 30 degrees most of the time.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment. The rooms are huge, all with ac; the kitchen was good (it had a washing machine for example) and the cleaners came every morning and brought clean towels. We had two bathrooms and two walk in wardrobes - it seemed much better than a three star.
We ate in the hotel restaurant and thought it was very good. I used the gym but it got seriously hot after a short time. The games room is small but has air hockey, pool and table football for one euro a game.
The swimming pool isn't huge but isn't small either.
I found the staff very helpful. In particular, Manuel couldn't have been more pleasant.
Overall if you have a car it's the place to stay. There's a nicely shaded car park under the pool! It's too far to walk to the centre of the town 20 minutes I would guess.

2 far away from everything. Food very very bad in hotel. 2 quiet. Noisy road outside. Pool small. Worried about being robbed. Pay a little extra and stay more central _ U will save in long run.

7 of us all went to Spain for our 30th's, on the second evening we went out for a meal, on return our room had been raided, two suitcases had been broken into, and all our belonging's had been looked through, £500 cash had been taken. There was no forced entry, all windows and doors were locked. It had to have been someone with a key. When we went down to reception to alert the staff they were not very surprised, they said they would call the police in the morning, we said no, the police were to be called straight away. The police were very rude on the phone, said that we had to go down to the station within 24 hours to collect a police report (that you need to make a claim with when you get home). So the following day we had to find the station, again the police were extremely rude and unprofessional, made us feel very uncomfortable. The hotel staff also told us lies about how many keys there were, and wouldnt allow us to have more than one, telling us that when ever we went out to leave the key on a hook with them. They also didnt inform us of any safety deposit box. Over all the apartment was lovely, and after the shock of having someone go through all our stuff we did have a nice time. Definatly didnt trust the staff.

**We were burgled by staff within an hour of booking into our room by staff!**
We were not offered a safety deposit box and were then sent on a wild goose chase for a restaurant, obviously when we returned we discovered we had been burgled. Our doors and windows were locked when we left and locked on our return - no damage caused. Many of us had every last penny stolen along with a mobile phone. This was done with door keys. Staff were extremely rude and offensive refusing to call the police and then refusing to let us speak to them while he spoke with them in Spanish and laughed with them infront of us. They told us the Police would not attend. They lied to us about the number of keys to our rooms in existence and would not give us all keys. They would not assist us in getting to the Police Station as we were penniless and remained useless throughout our stay. Local National Police pretended they did not speak Engliah despite understanding every single word we said - Useless and Careless!

As I'd got a 2 bed Apt in the Flatotel, between for 4 people for less than £200 for 3 nights, I was expecting something basic and this suited as all we needed was somewhere to put our heads down. On entering the reception area, this hotel did not have the air of a basic hotel - it was better than some 4 Stars I've stayed in. The reception staff were very perfectly courteous, polite and spoke excellent English. The apartment itself exceeded all expectations - it was fantastic. The previous reviewer has described the accommodation brilliantly and I would only be repeating that review to describe in detail - but for our 2 bed apt - both bedrooms had a large bathroom. The apartment was clean, bright and very spacious. The maids came in each morning - cleaned and made beds etc... - wasn't expecting this in an apartment. Location wise - maybe not the best - have to rely on bus and taxi as it is a bit far out of the main areas (Fuengirola 15E by taxi, 1.45E by bus. Beware Taxi drivers trying to rip you off - check price first. Outward journey to Benalmadena - 8E. Taxi back demanded 15E from same location. Needless to say refused to pay. Lots of shouting and swearing in Spanish - but all he got was 8E.
Great Supermarket on site - very helpful and friendly bearded guy running the shop. Everything we needed was there and didn't seem too badly priced - however we didn't shop anywhere else to compare.
Pool area great - poolside bar wasn't open though, but may have been due to it being quiet. Just on that - I arrived back yesterday and a lot of places are closed. There just aren't as many people there as as usual at this time of year.
All in all - great accommodation - I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Stayed at Flatotel Internacional, Benalmadena at the end of March 2009. It is a great place to stay, very clean, think the cleaning lady came in every day. The breakfast is wonderful, plenty of everything. Restaurant staff are very helpful. All staff are so helpful especially the girl at reception. There is a supermarket on site ran by a very friendly bearded gentleman. A bigger one is 15 minutes walk towards the Casino. A bus stop is just outside the hotel, the 110 takes you all the way to Malaga and the 19 takes you to the airport. The stops are a bit apart, ask the driver for directions. The hotel is a full hour walk to 24 hour square. The taxies know this and charge accordingly. The golf course is just across the road, beach a short walk.

Despite the recession, my daughter and I took a last minute flight with the dreaded Ryanair from Liverpool to Malaga and got good value at Flatotel.
On arrival and not knowing the distance from Malaga airport to hotel we stupidly paid a taxi E30. for a 12 klm trip. but were pleasantly surprised by the friendly and professional manner in which we were met at reception, good English, shown to our rooms on floor 1/.2 lifts which work perfectly and always available. On entering our apt. we were GOBSMACKED.!!!!!!!!! Everything white and spotless, marble floors, great size lounge, great kitchn with full oven and hob, toaster kettle, even a washing machine, coffee maker, loads of pots and pans for self catering. what a change from the usual measly 2 cups, 1 spoon, i working ring etc one finds in Canaries etc.!!!!!!!!!!!!!, The bed room with twin REAL BEDS, (NT FOAM ON SLATS) Was HUGE, attractive and comfortable, ensuite bathroom, built in wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers all in white, with lovely pink contrasting blinds..the 1st bed Ive ever slept comfortably in abroad. immaculately clean. In he wardrobe we found the iron and ironing board, the TV was free for the week, and had a great amount of English channels, incl ITV. The Balcony was massive, one could have had a dance on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, clothes airer patio table and 2 chairs. full size octagonal glass topped dining table and four chairs. spfa bed which we did not need.
Pool are was up a few steps, but nicely enclosed and private, loads of sun beds, never too crowded, no wild music tearing the ear off one as one took the sun which was in great abundance. pool was a bit cold, but hey, its April!!!!!!!. there seemed to be loads of kids facilities, incl a bouncing castle. pool side bar and cafe, and a great supermarket on site for the basics. a little pricey compared to the Sol supermarket chain just up the road,,but ok for initial supplies. curteous staff, good english.
We ate the 1st night in the dining room, it was ok,.no great, just had main course, bit bland, first we were served with crusty bread and a seafood dip, which we had not ordered, I thought it was a nice wee touch, till I saw we were charged E1.60 each on hte bill.didnt eat much of the main course. not great chicken, but saw other people getting what looked like real nice food.
Great selection of friendly Irish and English people, no loud carry on at night. very pleasant in fact.
Room cleaner came daily, changed towels, etc and anything we needed was given.
Not that remote at all. Bus at hte door will take you to central Benalmadena, Fuengorola, Torremolinos or Malaga for E1.15, where there are great shops, great bus service every 15 mins, and great to get off at Hotel door if carrying loads of bags, we visited the towns and bought bits and bobs, Unlike Canaries, where you can buy your ciggies in any supermarket, the specialist tobacco shops were keenly priced. if you buy a few cartons for friends etc...haggle a bit, they will come down..great beaches nearby, but we mainly sunbathed by the pool as we were only there for a week.
On return to airport we got a taxi to local train station, which cost E8 and the train fare was only $1.45 direct to airport terminal. v pleasant trip, seeing a bit more of the countryside.
We loved it, and Im one of those REAL fussy travellers who loves EVERYThing at hand, and everythign to run smoothly, I was really pleasantly surprised by the hotel and the absence of ''Benidorm'' type guests, slugging ''us cans'' etc etc. We saw none of this. No touts either on the strips pulling u in to eat here or drink there, no timeshare sharks were evident.
WARNING IF FLYING WITH RYANAIR, if doing on line check in going out, make sure to do it again for return journey, we were unaware of this and had to pay an additional E30 for the pleasure of being told we could get on the flight,They have now fitted an extra 26 seats on their standard new planes, which gives one just enough room to draw a breath, but dont start rooting in luggage etc, you would need to be a contortionist to achieve that . the usual, couldnt give a damn attitude from the ''NOT TOO LOW FARES AIRLINE'' hope they dont get control of Aerlingus,
All in all I would HIGHLY recommend Flatotel, great location, spotlessly clean, helpful friendly staff, and acres of space. Will Definitely be back. miss mY daughter whom I left in Wales as I returned to the Emerald Isle and much ashamed of the fact that that Ruthless Airline shares an ounce of the same soil as I
Feel free to email me for any further information which I may have left out.
