“Hen party weekend”
Reviewed 20 June 2012

11 of us stayed at this hotel 14th-18th of june for my hen party weekend, this hotel is clean spacious and very modern, they have loads of entertainment, supermarket on ground floor which was very handy. Outside dining and bar area near pools.
Rooms are cleaned and towels bedding changed everyday if needed, beach is on doorstep and loads of bars and restaurants, shops.
7mins bus ride to harbour and 24 hour square where a lot of bars and stag and hen parties tend to be there at night. We ate out a lot while we where here, warning to anyone wanting to eat down at harbour prices are quite high and one restaurant called tex mex do not go unless you want to be ripped off, we didnt leave a big tip as food wasn't nice, then they tried telling us we had short changed them when 2 of the girls always counted the money, they had actually changed a £20e for a £5euro, Also electric kept going off during the meal.
One restaurant called Shakespeares, I would totally recommend to anyone thinking about going to eat out near hotel, the food was fantastic, infact it was so good we ate here 3 nights, the price is really good, and the 2 sisters kaley and Chloe who run the place where lovely alway talking to us about how we are enjoying the hen party, also gave us some free shots, all in all I'd rate this restaurant 10/10, the food was amazing. We all enjoyed our stay here and would come back to the hotel as it had plenty to do and had everything you needed.

I first stayed here in August 2000. I expected the hotel to be dated and possibly run down in the 12 years that had passed but I was pleasantly surprised.

I returned to Sunset Beach Apartments in June to attend a wedding in a local village. The majority of the wedding party stayed here so it was very easy to meet up with people in the bar, by the pool or in the restaurant.

The hotel staff were very friendly. We checked in without any difficulty and we were given a 1 bed apartment on the 13th floor with an amazing view over looking the sea and the pool area. Everything was in excellent working order; neat sized kitchen with oven, hob, fridge etc. The air conditioning was perfectly cool at the lowest temperature; so much so we never left it on during the night.

The pool area was busy but there are plenty of sun beds. The pools are excellent sizes and the area is well kept and clean.

We ate in the Oasis restaurant three times. One of those times, the service was very slow and as the soccer match was starting we skipped dessert. They missed out on about €50 there as there were 10 of us. Other than that the food was fine. There is also a very nice restaurant right beside the hotel - on the left - down the steps towards the beach. They had a varied menu to suit everyone and the service there was excellent.

The entertainment in the hotel is very good. We used the games room on a number of occasions and also the Moonlight bar showed the soccer matches on the big screen....with unfortunate Irish results. We were cheered up by the Take That tribute band who were really good as tribute acts go. They also did the Westlife tribute act!

The information desk in the hotel was great. The lady there gave us recommendations on how to get to the Waterpark, the Fuengirola market, the airport and where was best for shopping.

The wifi in the hotel was available in a number of locations. It would have been even better if it was available in all of the rooms but maybe this will be added in time.

My boyfriend used the gym in the hotel - €20 for a pass for the week. He said it was a little small but as it wasn't too busy it was fine. I tried to get my hair done one of the days in the salon. Unfortunately it was booked out but there was only one lady working there so it's not surprising really. As I was enquiring, another lady was also turned away. I thought one staff member being available on a Saturday was not ideal.

Our room was lovely and quiet. I know other guests who were on the 5th floor were not as pleased due to the noise from the Moonlight bar but we had no complaints.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, couples or groups looking to enjoy a sun holiday.

Room Tip: Sea view on a high floor - away from 5th floor. Room 1315 has a beautiful view.

We had two apartments, a one bed and a two bed both through RCI, the apartments were excellent, staff very helpful. Views brilliant and the children were never out of the pool. Only downside the pool was a little cool when you first got in - did not bother the children! There is plenty to do restaurant and bar reasonable and first class. Evening entertainment for all in two different venues. I would recommend this for couples or families alike.

I went here as part of a family holiday consisting of 14 (2 under six months, A 2 year old and A 5 year old) Wonderful. Very helpful staff if you want to know anything at all. The Bar is very cheap and efficient, €1.80 for a glass of Coca-Cola or any other soft drink, Very decent!

The resteraunt is delicious. Reasonably priced too. Onto the rooms - Make sure you get Sea view, Wont be regretted! Very clean rooms, Not a speck of dust. Credit to the Cleaning staff on that one. One problem with the rooms - The Kitchen area is tiny. You cannot move at all in it. I wish that the T.v.would have more English soeaking channels (Channel 4 atleast)

Last complaint would be that there is too much deep end in the pools and not enough shallow. The shallow end was over crowded and the deep was basically empty.

Entertainment was quite good, I enjoyed the Michael Jackson tribute but after a while the miming involved with tribute acts gets repetitive and boring.

Overall a wonderful hotel with great surrounding area and facilities of its own but afew small problems are keeping it behind.

Room Tip: Sea view, And not on the 5th floor, You wont get a wink of sleep because of entertainment and watchi...

I visited Sunset Beach Club in November last year. The hotel is good with a lovely pool area, great food and entertainment in the evening. It's a fair walk to the marina however the scenic beach route made it enjoyable. The only downside was we were given a ground floor room to begin with which seemed to have a slight infestation of ants. After raising this with reception, we were moved to a room several floors up and had a great time from then on.

My family and I stayed here very recently and were fairly happy with the experience. We had a mountain view which really was nothing to write home about but maybe it was a good thing as the boys weren't constantly aware of the pool which they practically lived in. Room was clean and towels changed and bathroom cleaned everyday, but shampoo etc was never replenished even though we tipped the cleaner every day : ( - petty on my part maybe but anywhere else I've tipped housekeeping, they've kept us well supplied!

The pool area was busy but not maniacally so with sunbeds available most times and days that we were there. The lifeguards are always on the lookout so good peace of mind.

We went b&b which was fine but so BORING. Same thing every single day. We ate one evening in the terrace restaurant - our paella was delicious and loads of it and the bread plate with tapenade before dinner was absolutely gorgeous. The kids ordered pizzas which were huge so probably should have ordered just one but they boxed up the remainder for us which we had for lunch next day in the apartment - there's an oven and microwave : ) Every other evening we walked along the promenade and ate in one of the restaurants along the beach. Didn't have one bad meal, kids ate free in most places and the wine was excellent and sinfully inexpensive compared to what we have to pay at home. Learn to say a firm no thanks to the numerous sunglasses and handbag vendors and you'll do ok. Walk all the way to the marina if you can, it's a beautiful walk and the marina itself is lovely.

I agree with other reviewers about opting for a taxi instead of a bus transfer as it probably will cost you the same but get you there and back a lot faster.
