“Very disappointing stay in Triton”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2010

I have just returned from a long weekend at the Triton Hotel with my husband and parents. It was a very disappointing stay. The hotel lobby is very big with poor lighting and no atmosphere. The staff in the hotel and unfriendly, unhelpful and don't really seem that interested in the Customer. Our room was only fine but the shower was out of order. There are no English channels on the TV or radio on the rooms which leads to a very boring stay on a wet day. On the plus side, the hotel is well located, the pool area is lovely and dining room staff are very efficient. Food is good, varied and plentiful. The Spa is small and expensive for what you get. My mum slipped on the tiles on the steps in the spa area and no effort was made by staff to speak to her when I reported it. I would not recommend this to a younger couple or to parents with Children as it is simply not a suitable accommodation for either. It seemed more like a Retirement home than a hotel. The in-house entertainment is poor and overall I would say the hotel could seriously benefit from a refurbishment and new management. We will be returning to the tried and tested Sunset Beach Club going forward where we have always experienced a pleasant and comfortable stay.

just stayed one night after a cruise. the location was perfect backing onto the promenade and just 5 mins from the marina. the hotel is large with good pool area. the rooms are comfortable if a little tired . i would have been very happy with this hotel if the food had been better. it was cold and poor quality, the scrambled eggs at breakfast looked awful and i stuck to bread and coffee. the coffe was horrible from a self serve machine.i feel that this could be a great place to stay in benalmadena if the food quality could be improved. i will watch further reviews with interest as i genuinely liked the hotel .

Arrived at the Triton Hotel at the end of October & was quite pleased with what i had booked,we arrived early and was allocated our room straight away, The room was a good size with two queen sized beds and a side sea view. Location was good as right on the beach with a ten minute walk to the marina, shops & sea world. The only thing we found to be a problem was the food as it was basically the same every night with some of it being cold or under cooked,.

Stayed at Triton during October. Hotel is very handy for beach, marina and backs on the promanade so safe for kids. Food was great. Not cold at all. Hint - there are hot plates available in cupboard. Just ask.. Good choice. If you go, sit away from the carvery. It can get a little smokey. The road is a little noisy but can't be heard from pool area. Plenty of sunbeds. Tapas in pool bar are delicious and cheap. Lifts can be a little tempremental but no major problems. Rooms were spotlessly clean and everything worked. All in all a good experience.

Beware the Air con is turned off on Oct 1st. Room temp reaching 28c. Had to have the window/doors open and we were at the back of the hotel so the traffic noise was bad !! and we were on the 8th Floor.
Only 2 english stations on my TV, bbc world news and eurosport !! Staff not helpfull and very un-friendly !! Breakfast was OK but busy, good location for bars and eating places and for the harbour
My tip :- go to the beach, very comfy sun beds.
I would not stay at thos hotel again.

Really perfect holliday. We were 31-8-10 - 7-9-10 with 14months baby. Big room with good beds, big bathroom with tub (I asked by mail), breath-taking views for sea in left side and for mountains on right side, delicious buffet (a lot of fishes and sea fruits, a lot of meat and all time it was refill). Location is really perfect, near the sea, which was clean. Before hotel are 4 swimming pools - all clean, many sunbeds and sun umbrellas. We were with baby by swimming pool and than we went only swim to the sea and come back. It was really perfect. Somebody was write here that there it is expensive, I do not think so, I think similar as other. In hotel bar cost coffee 1,5EUR, Sangria 1lt 8,90EUR and drinks as tequilla sunrise etc. cost 5EUR. In restaurant bottle of wine 8eur and higher, but for 8eur good. We were going here from Prag tu Malaga by air and then by train to Benalmadena Arroyo de Miel and finally by taxi to the hotel. Taxi cost 6eur, train 1,55eur/adult. We had rent a car there and went for trip to the Granada Alhambra - really beautiful. There is more places to see it as Sevilla, Gibraltar or Nerja caves. We were in Malaga city too, by bus, but it was not so much interesting. Maybe shopping but nothing special. We made shopping later on in the airport.
Finally:
Plus: location, big room, good cleaning service, delicious half-pension and more more more
Negative: partly unpleasent staff in restaurant and slow staff in the bar
We were really very satisfied. I had fear, because here is a lot of bad reviews, but we were absolutely happy.
