“another great holiday”
Reviewed 21 February 2013

my wife and i have just spent another 3 week winter holiday at the bali hotel. we had a great time, we were half board and found the breakfast and evening meals were excellent, our room was cleaned every day and had the most comfortable bed we have ever had in a hotel. all the staff were friendly and cheerful which says a great deal for the way the hotel is run. if you want an enjoyable night out with a most unusual quiz and lots of fun, go to chesters, just down the hill and around the corner we have just booked again for next winter and are looking forward to going.thanks to everyone at the bali.

Room Tip: block two sea view

We have just returned from a very last minute break to the Bali. I was a bit wary , as we didn't enjoy the food last June, but we were happy that there has been some improvement, and we didn't feel the need to eat outside the hotel this time.(See my previous review July 2012) Everything else about the hotel is fine.I echo the review of Ann S .

Room Tip: Bali 2 above the pool has sun until late afternoon .

Have just returned from a highly enjoyable weeks stay in the Bali hotel. We had booked half board with Thomsons but when we arrived decided to upgrade to A/inclusive at 15 euros a day each, this was great value especially if you like a tipple or two on a night.Food was some of the best I have had if you couldnt something you liked then you would have to be a very fussy eater. We were up on the sixth floor in the Bali 11 a real suntrap with a great sea view, rooms nice even if walls a little thin but sprung mattresses on beds not those great lumps of rock hard foam you get in some hotels.Staff were friendly and polite and all public areas spotlessly clean.Entertainment could have been a bit for varied as it was spanish pensioners week but it certainly spoil our holiday and it was nice to see people enjoying thereselves, all in all a great holiday we will be returning.

Room Tip: ask for a room in Bali 11 great sea view and suntrap

We stayed at the Bali hotel for 5 nights on a HB Basis (end Jan/Feb '13). I requested a high floor with a sea view (booked via Travel Republic) & that is what we had. The reception staff are friendly & we were checked in very quickly, we didn’t arrive until 10pm but were told they were happy for us to use the restaurant if we wanted a meal.
The rooms are a standard size, comfortable & very clean with a good sized bathroom, with hairdryer & mini toiletries. The shower was powerful & always hot. Maid service & towels changed daily.
There is a large bar area & entertainment each evening, I can’t comment on it as we went out each night but it was always full & holiday makers who seemed to be having a great time when we passed through. There is a good overall atmosphere in the Hotel. The reception areas are spotless.
There are 2 large pool areas that are clean & the pool at the back of the hotel has lovely views. Even though it was end Jan/Feb we were lucky enough with the weather to sit by the pool! The pool cafe bar was also open serving a wide range of snacks.
The restaurant is large with a buffet selection. The Maitre D was always friendly & you chose your own table. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices, English traditional as well as cereals, toast, croissants, pastries, cheeses / ham etc…. Our first HB evening was “gala night” & the food was good with a complimentary glass of Cava. After that we found the evening meal was a little disappointing, although there was plenty of it we found ourselves picking at salads, pizza etc…. But I have to say for the price we paid you cannot complain & the staff are lovely. There are numerous restaurant & eateries in Benalmadena & they are so cheap you don’t mind eating out.
The Hotel is in a good position, about 10 mins (turn right) to the beach / seafront & Marina. There are lots of bars in the nearby Bonanza Square (turn left). Also nearby is Ibensa Square with bars a plenty that get the fab afternoon sunshine & at 1 euro for a beer or glass of wine you can’t go wrong!
All in all a very good stay which you can’t fault for the price. We will return but we’ll go for B&B.

Room Tip: Request a seaview for shade / cooler days or a pool view if you want sunny afternoons. High floors h...

My husband and I stayed at the Bali for the last 2 weeks in January. It was our 1st experience at self catering in a hotel so, maybe shouldnt have chosen this one. We were given the key to a studio in the self catering block and left to find it ourselves. The corridors and rooms are very old and tired. The studio had a really bad smell and felt more like a hostel than a hotel. After unpacking, we popped down for a drink and to catch the evenings entertainment, only to find the fridge had leaked water all over the floor on our return. Being late, we mopped it up and let our Thomson rep know the next morning at the welcome meeting. I said that we would even change to half board if we had to, if it meant getting a better room. We were told at reception that we could go half board at a cost of £390 and could stay in the same room. (interestingly, an upgrade on the thomson website is only £168 extra) The Thomson rep in my oppinion should have been more helpful however, the reception guy was indifferent to our problem and in the end we paid an extra £195 to upgrade to a one bed self catering apartment that was slightly more pleasant, thought the double (camp bed) in the bedroom was too uncomfortable and didnt even fit the base, so we slept on the sofas. This is not a 3* hotel. The cleaners have the hardest job, trying to make it look acceptable and they tried their best. The entertainment was ok but it was spanish pensioners fortnight. They sat all night without buying a drink so, you'd think the hotel would be grateful for the British custom. Half board or All Inc may be different but I would not use this hotel again or advise anyone else to for a self catering holiday. The only good thing was that we were away during the worst weather of the year at home. They say we learn by our mistakes. We certainly have!!

Room Tip: All self catering studios are north facing with no sun. One bed apartment are slightly better.

Dear Maureen D,

Thank you for staying at the Hotel Bali and for providing us with your feedback on your recent stay.
We are sorry to hear that you did not like the studio room. The most of our customers choose to stay on the half board basis which offers a better value for money.
We appreciate your feedback as it reflects your experience as a self catering customer. Your comment will be forwarded to the management in order to make sure we improve our services we provide regardless the room type or board basis.

Thanks again for your comment and we hope you enjoyed your stay in Spain.

Kind regards,

I stayed at The Bali Hotel and Studios in January 2013. For me (travelling by myself) found the holiday a very enjoyable experience.

The room cleanliness was superb and the room was cleaned on a daily basis to a high standard. I strongly believe that although it is a 3* star hotel the level the provide both in services and friendliness of staff is of a 5 star.

The staff are very friendly, the food was good. As I stayed half board I found that the drinks within the hotel are expensive however if I was to stay here again I would again STAY HALF BOARD. This is as there is plenty of great places to eat in the local area and drinks can be found cheap either in bars and clubs or alternatively in supermarkets.

This Hotel is brilliant and for the price they charge YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN.

We know Benalmadena very well, having holidays there for approx 20+ years. I couldn't get a week off from work so we travelled from Saturday to Wednesday. It was just a short trip to see friends and a little break. I booked a cheap flight with Easyjet and booked for 4 nights in the Bali. The price for half board was very good. We hadn't stopped at the Bali before but knew the location and it was very near all of our friends. The room was clean and beds were made every day. The food was good with a very good variety of dishes. Also a choice of breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch. Bar was reasonable and friendly, especially if you try out your spanish. We would definitely book again. Only reservation is that we think it could be very busy in summer.

Room Tip: If you would like a cup of tea in your room, take a travel kettle and own t-bags. coffee reasonable...
