“Good cheap break, would return at right price.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

Me and mum (27 & 57) travelled here for a cheap 5 night break on 10th May.

This is my second trip to Benalmadena (also travelled last April to the Benalmadena Palace). We paid £440 all in via onthebeach from Edinburgh with ryan air, on a half board basis. This was my ''cheap getaway'' from Scottish weather before a nicer holiday later in the year with the hubby - I would definitely return. This time we didn't buy transfers as the flight arrives late and we wanted to get to hotel in time for dinner. Paid 2 euros each for a train from airport to Benalmadena station (20 mins) and then a taxi was 7 euros from benalmadena station to the hotel (10 minutes).

Location
The hotel itself is situated up a short (2 minutes), but steep hilly street from the main road. There are 2 supermarkets on this street on way upto hotel. It's a 15- 30 minute stroll to Marina and 5 minutes from the beach front. There is a good Scottish bar (Barnone) immediately at bottom of the street that does 1 euro san Miguel, with various other eating places and bars along end of main road and a tobacco shop up the top of the street further up the hill - all tobacco shops were the same price for most brands if you want to take cigarettes and tobacco home so don't waste time searching elsewhere.

Hotel
Don't forget this a 3 star hotel and for what we paid (220 each) it was great - better than some 4 star hotels I've stayed in. It was clean, spacious reception with lots of seating, free wifi in reception (you need to ask at reception for a password). There are 3 blocks - Bali 1, 2 & 3 and 2 separate pool areas. There are only 2 lifts which wasn't ideal as busy times meant a small wait but this didn't really bother us. Toilets in reception area were clean but really smelled of urine. Downstairs next to resturaunt were fine. The whole place seemed to be filled with Spanish pensioners!! But I guessed this meant if it was good enough for them, the hotel cant be that bad. They are pushy, sometimes rude and will skip queues for lift and dinner - but we don't bother we just had a chuckle at them.

Rooms
Room 1703 was on the top floor (7th) in block 1 in main building. I requested a sunny balcony by emailing hotel before hand, although not receiving a response I got my request - sun from afternoon to sunset with a nice view of the ocean, beach, and along the coast. Nice to sit in evening - although none of the balconies had an outside light which meant sitting in the dark!!!! Room had 2 single beds, a sofa, TV, built in wardrobe and bathroom. The room was in good condition and really clean - defo had been painted not too long ago. It cost 5 euro per day to hire a fridge but we didn't bother. The front door was really thin as could hear everything in the corridor! Only 2 british tv channels - news and something else but you don't go on holiday to watch TV. Beds and pillows were comfy, air con wasn't the best as it wanst adjustable machine just a vent in the wall. Our showerhead was broken and spurted water out from all angles - presuure good though and we were only there for a few nights and good view etc so we didn't want to change rooms, so didn't complain. Check out was 12pm - our flight was late at night and they stored our cases while we sat at pool then gave us a room to shower in later.

Pool
We only sat at pool in Bali 1 - it was really clean and good size pool - I was in it twice and there were no bugs or grime that normally lingers around edge of pool water! Seen it being tested every day. Plenty of sunbeds although it was getting busier as our week went on so not sure if this could be a problem when busier - it's a really large hotel. There was also a large seating area with tables and chairs and a few umbrellas if you were there quick enough to get one.

Food and drink
Being half board, we had to pay for drinks. It was 1.50 for small beer and 1.90 for small wine - you could buy a bottle though for 6.90 so we done this at dinner and it was nice for a house wine. Quality of food was really good. Breakfast - real sausages, scrambled, fried and boiled eggs, beans, bacon, pastries, toast, cereal, fruit, hams and cheeses. Evening buffet - different every night. Not very child friendly though so beware. Salad bar, and then the puddings - not a lot of choice given the standard and choice of hot food. The tables are really close together - my only bugbear. Good service and like I said, never had a bad meal.

Overall, I would return - but would grudge paying £700 summer prices. Good location, good food and good accommodation.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - room 1703.

Have just returned from a 7 A/I stay at this hotel. I must say I booked it without reading the reviews, and after reading the reviews, I thought what am I going to.

I have never booked All Inclusive before and found this option excellent. The rooms are very clean and maid service was daily. The restaurant was good for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an array of meats, fish and salads. soups and sweets. Something for everyone. As for the comments about the amount of Spanish people staying at the hotel, for goodness sake it is Spain we are visiting. It was lovely to mix with them. To me, if the Spanish are staying at the hotel, then Hotel Bali must be doing something right. The staff were all very friendly, from reception through to the maid service.

Thank you very much Hotel Bali for having us.

Room Tip: High floor in Bali 2 has best sea views.

Four of us have just returned from our annual May 3 night girlie birthday weekender in the sun which this year was at the Hotel Bali, full board. We are always on a tight budget & never know each year how good our accommodation/resort choice will be but this year we hit the jackpot! We had asked for a pool/seaview on our special request form as we were celebrating 3 birthdays, and we got a huge balcony & both! Our room slept 4 comfortably, constant hot water, clean, spacious, air con, fridge what more can you want. The meal times were good, the buffet choices were vast, the only thing they could improve on is the dishes could have been hotter but it didnt put us off. Even in early May there was entertainment every night & activities in the day - not our bag but we were so impressed with the place we may go back with our families. Its in a good location for nightlife; not noisy but close enough to the marina & 24hr square of Benalmadena for going out. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and the staff were really helpful & friendly......fabulous weather, 20 mins from Malaga airport (25 euros in a cab) and all of this for the sum of £71 each for 3 nights full board (+ RyanAir flight £101)!!! Next time we will go for 4 nights as that is when the All Inclusive 'kicks in'. Absolutely amazing time, want to go back!!

After looking at mixed reviews for the Bali--we were pleasantly surprised by the overall experience when we joined our grand daughter and her mum and dad for a break ---the food was pretty good with great variety--hot cooked chicken, pork ,paella and lovely fresh salads - ,coffee ,juice, tea - all you could ask for in the dinning room. We found pool areas good in general but again a slight shortage of umbrellas for shade as we had very hot weather last week -5th - 10 may ---- it is a good location and the marina area is very pretty --took short boat ride and the little train to Paloma park --which has goats ,emus, peacocks and lovely grounds so well worth a visit --we ate out several times although we were all inclusive and found in general food good value but must mention the Ole Square area--- Buddy,s bar very friendly but must mention the Eraseunavez restaurant which was really good ---oxtail medallions and foie gras mmmmmmn--overall a great break and no probs with Bali --except cardiac hill !!

I stayed at the Hotel Bali in April with 5 of my friends, its a clean basic hotel, the staff are friendly and work extremely hard, especially the bar staff who never seem to have any time off, I would go back and stay there again, there is plenty of room both in the hotel and the outside areas, the pool area was large with lots of sun beds but would benefit from a bit of a clean up (although generally like I said the hotel was clean). The food was basic and quite varied and they served up some good cakes and again the staff were friendly and efficient. There was a lot of groups of middle aged men staying at the hotel as apparently there is good golfing in the area ! But the atmosphere was happy with no problems.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front of the hotel so we got the sun on the balcony and a view of the beach.

just back from a 4 night all-inc stay here and have no complaints. the hill is quite steep but its short!

the food was great which was a pleasant surprise. lots of variety, salad bar, several meat, veggie and fish dishes along with soups, bread and desserts for both lunch and dinner. we were not keen on the breakfast buffet but there was a lot of choice.

the staff were friendly and rooms cleaned daily.
pool area was nice and spacious with lots of loungers, tables and chairs.
rooms were basic but clean with a balcony with table and chairs and a tv with radio.
few minutes walk to the beach and lots of cafes and bars close.
