Well what can I say, this hotel has had a bit of a slating and I dont know why. We went there in July and was pleasantly surprised. Our room was small but immaculate and just been renovated we had a sea view too. Maid came every day and changed towels and cleaned . Beds changed three times in a week. Food good choice for a 3 star. There was allways something you could choose. The entertainment was the best we have ever seen and held outside. Loads of seats too. Great tribute bands ie; Queen and Michael Jackson. The entertainment staff worked very hard day and night. Great hotel for families. We usually go Adults only but on this occasion had a change. Go all inclusive its a lot better and works out cheaper. The area around is quite hilly but very nice. You must have a walk to the Marina and have a drink there, its lovely and some fab shops too. It was red hot while we were there so didnt venture out much. On the whole its a nice hotel and for the amount we paid, was a bargain. Enkoy!!!

Right where do I start. We didn't get the best of rooms, it was tiny, right next to the lift shaft and above the toilets so you could hear the hand dryers going at all hours in the morning. The door was very difficult to open, but we got the knack in the end. The key would just turn in the lock!

None of the above really bothered us but may bother some people. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and to a very high standard, the maids were all very friendly and did a very good job. The view from our room was great, we could see the beach and the marina and also could see "Cardiac hill" which was amusing to watch people stumble up it!

The food was good, although the Spanish CANNOT do desserts, but thats in general not just at the Bali, loads of choice and the restraunte was clean. The waiters were all very amusing and friendly and took your plate from your table before you had swallowed the last mouthfull.

The pools were clean and plenty of sunbeds, as there is 3 pools there is loads of choice as to where to spend the day.

The bar tenders were also very friendly and were giving me Spanish lessons.

The entertainment team were great, their performaces were excellent compared to the professional ones and you get to play free bingo, although we didn't win it didn't seem too bad as we didn't pay for it.

The negatives of this holiday were "Cardiac Hill" yeah the walk up the hill from shops isn't too bad but when you walk from the beach its a "KILLER". Even my 6 year old niece cried at the thought of having the hike up the hill, so it ended up with us having the get a taxi up, which cost around 5 Euros.

Also we were warned about the stag do's on arrival something that first choice failed to mention when we booked it, which didn't seem to bad as I am only 24 and can pary with the best of em. The noise of people singing, screaming and laughing early hours of the morning is understandable on holiday however on our second night we were woken up by somebody hammering on our door at 3 in the morning, too scared to answer the door we just cowered and evetually fell back asleep however half an hour later we had people ringing the phone. This really scared my niece and she found it hard to sleep for the next 12 nights.

The phone ringing happened a couple of times, my advise would be to disconnect it before you go to bed.

Overall it was an OK holiday but I wouldn't return...

We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the standard of your room at the Hotel Bali. In general our customer feedback on our accommodation standards is positive, and many customers return to our hotel year after year.

We are pleased that in spite of your dissatisfaction with the room the feedback regarding the rest of the hotel, facilities, food and service was positive.

The Hotel Management and Staff do their utmost to try to ensure harmony between our different customers and make every effort to maintain an acceptable level. Have just spent 1 week at the Bali A.Inclusive. What a dissapointment that was. The snacks consisted of a hamburger, hotdog, cheese/ham tostie or plain greesy loose crisps. There are 3 bars, opening times were shared between them, so you had to go all over the place to get a drink or snack. The sunny bar opened at 11am and shut at 5pm.The other outside bar at the other pool shut at 6pm, so the only place to get a drink was the bar inside the hotel. The Hotel was full, so the queues at the bar were very long.
I have never seen such misserable waitors in any other Hotel I have ever been to. This Hotel does not seem to have enough staff to cope with the amount of guests.

Before we left, I spent a lot of time reviewing this and other review sites to check out the area and the hotel. Have to say, was a little apprehensive after quite a few negative reviews of the Bali. I can honestly say that my wife & I and two kids (7 & 9) had an absolute ball – I cannot fault anything about the stay we had. I now believe some of these reviews are the typical British attitude of Champagne Wishes and Beer Money! If you want a five-star hotel, then the Bali probably isn’t for you – if you want a good quality, clean hotel in a fantastic location, then this is the one for you!

Opted for all-inclusive after a few days as it was costing a fortune in snacks, drinks etc – we didn’t restrict ourselves to staying in the hotel 24x7 as the Alll Inclusive paid for itself after only about 4 days!

The food was fantastic – excellent choice for all three meals, (again, British attitude of “I want steak and kidney pie and chips like home” is probably the source of most of the complaints – you have to remember, you are in Spain, not Blackpool) – if you DO want British grub, there are more than enough bars and restaurants outside that will cater for your needs – I, personally, don’t go on holiday for a home from home and prefer to try new things.

Yeah most of the entertainment was mimed but the specialist shows were excellent (albeit, the Brazilian dancing was a bit pants!), the entertainment staff work really hard – we all had an excellent, relaxing break with a lot of laughter! The Millennium Show was particularly good, we thought.

Reports are now showing people complaining of others getting up at the crack of dawn to secure sunbeds – a bit sad but we never had an issue getting beds later on in the day – it was quite amusing watching the saddos arranging their beds at 0700 whilst sitting on the balcony with a brew!

Benalmadena itself is a great location – after watching some of the TV shows were a bit worried about louts etc but, I reckon you’d have to be around 24hr Square after midnight or so to catch any of that trouble; obviously with two young kids, we didn’t look for this – the Marina is beautiful and the town is ideally located for Fuengerolla and Torriolimos as well as bus and train links to other parts of Spain.

We did the Aquapark – Book a Family ticket with the Thompsons desk – We also went twice – we paid half-price whilst we were in the first time for a re-visit, Palomo Park and the Salwo Marina were also really excellent days out.

The Thompsons kids club wasn’t brilliant I have to say – it’s more about the interest of the kids rather than the staff.

All in All a fantastic holiday and we will definitely return; albeit, I will probably try and do things direct as I’m not sure what value Thompsons actually made to our fortnight. Transfer time from Malaga is only 20 mins – I reckon I can do that cheaper and as easily on our own.

just got back from our second visit to the bali and we had a great time again, although the room was a bit of a nightmare. avoid 2015 if you can.

we had numerous issues with the room including : the bathroom smelled off sewage, the patio door wouldn't lock and then wouldn't open, the air con was barely working, the telephone wasn't working, the toilet broke, the television was constantly flickering and the bathroom was psycadelic, tiled from top to bottom in bright orange.

although we did ask to be moved to a different room, we had travel with some family and were roomed on the same floor, and as the 4 bedded rooms are few and far between we could only be moved to a different floor, but as most of the faults were rectified during the stay, we bit our lip and got on with what turned out to be another great holiday.

we had read before we went about the all inclusive option, which we didn't take up, and would strongly advise against it unless you don't want to leave the hotel. the prices are extortionate, i.e. 500ml water -1.4 euro, shop across road, 1.5litre - 80 cents. there are also limits as to what you can have and when you can have it. there are also some great places to eat and drink. for a great snack or meal, visit chesters, turn right at bottom of hill and about 500yards on the right, also fagins bar at the bottom of the hill on the left. the owners were really friendly and even charged our mobile phone as we had forgotten the charger, while chesters got our booze from the wholesales for us to save us some money.

the hotel is in a great position and has bus stops at the bottom of the hill for both torremolinos and fuengirola, although it is a lovely walk back from torremolinos along the promenade, it takes about 2 hours but is really nice and relaxing. the bali is also a short walk from the marina, which really hots up at night, and a short walk to the selwo marina, which is an excellent half day, be sure to walk through the park where chickens, rabbits and peacocks stroll freely. another place to visit is the crocdile park which is very reasonable and another half day.

all in all we had another excellent holiday at the bali and would consider going again, even after the nightmare room, as we had an excellent room last year and put this year down to bad luck, and all said, we could have moved had we wished.

We stayed at the Bali and overall we had a good stay, there were 4 adults and 2 children aged 2 & 4 years. The flight was good and took off on time which is a good start to the holiday.
We asked and got rooms next to us each other, they were very clean and the balconies overlooked one of the swimming pools the sea and children's round pool. We always managed to get a sunbed around the pool. The round children's pool was excellent for the little ones although it was spoilt one day by about 6 adults with lilos on the pool which left no room for the children to play safely, some people have no manners at all.

Some of the dining room tables were set for larger families which was good for us. The food was fine I am quite a picky eater but always found something to suit me, especially the deserts!!.
We were disappointed with the evening entertainment, the entertainment team put a lot of effort into it but it was quite amateurish with nearly all the songs being mimed.
We went on a trip to Gibraltar, we booked by an agent not the reps, it cost 32euros each adult and we went on a tour of the rock, the caves and saw the apes, it was worth the money as the driver was very knowledgeable about the rock and its history.

The only down side to the holiday was that hill everyone writes about, it wasn';t too bad at the start of the holiday but it was very tiring if you had already walked to the marina and back then carried 2 pushchairs up endleass flights of stairs to get back onto the main road before you hit our hill.
