The summa hotel group had sent us originally to a sister hotel which was terrible. Very shabby and with many bugs in the room. Building site directly across from hotel. Very disappointing. We asked to be moved and were sent to El Grego.
My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for one week. On appearence a lovely hotel. Looked well but looked also very quiet. TOO QUIET. We are both 32 years of age. This is a hotel very much geared for OAPs and they were looking at us actually wondering what we were doing here.
Breakfast - Will just about set you up for the day - good choice but tasteless
Room - Comfortable. Towels changed every day. Shower very poor with lukewarm water anytime we took a shower.
Noise - Can hear every movement from your room. Not a great nights sleep
Staff - Ok but with very little english
Overall feel - No atmosphere at all. Just came back there to sleep.
Entertainment - OAP style in SPANISH
Balcony - Tiny overlooking another hotel -- no scenic view whatsoever apart from a little of the sea.
TV - Spanish. Didnt watch it all week - Really missed the telly as there was nothing else to do at the hotel
Internet - NONE
It is not geared at british or irish holiday makers in any way.

Not a lot of choice of hotel for this break as it was determined by the number of points we had available. Lies on the edge of Benalmadena towards Fuengirola and up one of the many steepish hills.
Best described as basic, starting to show signs of wear and tear but cleaned well and daily change of linen.
We are by no means fussy eaters but were not impressed with the fare for breakfast, we did use it, but only for an orange juice.
This is clearly a Spanish hotel, out of around 60 guests when we were there, we were the only Ingles. Lovely people but by god can they talk (and all at once).
Receptionists were quite helpful but all of them could only manage bits of English.
Immediately upon return to England we realised we had left an expensive gift in the room (our own fault obviously) we contacted the hotel via a Spanish friend but they didnt have it, shame, but at least someone over there is smelling nice.
In summary, been there, done it, but not again.

My fiancé and I have just returned from a 5 day stay at El Greco Hotel in Benalmadena. We booked very last minute over the internet with travel republic, and for the price we paid we weren’t expecting much of the hotel. However we were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our stay here. We know Benalmadena well but had not heard of the Greco and could not find any reviews. The hotel is predominantly for Spanish holiday-makers, however this didn’t bother us. In fact it was a bonus as the Spanish do everything so much later than us so the lovely pool area (which was relatively small for the size of the hotel) was always nice and quiet and we always managed to get a sun bed. On check in the staff were very friendly and spoke reasonably good English. The room was a good size, a bit shabby in places but nothing too bad. The balcony was nice and private but a bit on the small side. The room had air-con which we weren’t expecting; this was controlled by the hotel. I think each room was allowed so much a day! Sod’s law it always came on when you were just going out. But to have it in the first place was better than not at all. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of storage and we had a safety deposit box which was 3euros per day. The room also had a TV- all Spanish channels but we only used it for background music. You had to pay 12 euros for a remote which was silly as you can change channels using the buttons on the front of the TV. One drawback was that the rooms were poorly sound-proofed and you could hear guests in the adjoining rooms.
The Spanish style breakfast was average, with a choice of cereals, bread, eggs in different styles each day, meat either sausage or bacon, and fruit. Location of the hotel was good in that it was close to the beach and two supermarkets, and near bars and restaurants along the beach front. It was a long walk (40 mins) to the marina which is well worth a visit, and a long walk to the 24 hour square so we tended to stop for drinks on the way! It’s a 20 minute up-hill walk into Arroyo de la Miel, which has good value restaurants. Highly recommended is El Pairaiso which is 10 euros for a four course meal including bottle of wine. Eduardo’s is also very good, and is 11 euros for menu del dia (three course meal with bottle of wine). Overall the hotel was very good for the price we paid and we had an enjoyable short break.
