This was our second stay at this hotel and I'm glad to say we weren't disappointed. We remembered many of the staff from our previous visit (two and a half years ago). We had to move rooms after the first night due to a problem with the first room smelling strongly of cigarette smoke (despite being no-smoking room). I have asthma, so this had caused me to feel ill. The problem was sorted without a fuss and we moved to another room and we were then able to enjoy the rest of the holiday. Our room was kept very clean and the Cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. The Reception team are excellent and nothing is too much trouble (especially Manuel and Trevor). It was lovely to see Patrice still running the entertainment with great enthusiasm. My child has outgrown the mini-club (much to my disappointment as I miss joining in with the kid's dances!), but we enjoyed the evening entertainment, quizzes, bingo and shows, as well as nipping into the games room. The hotel has a little kiosk shop which stocks gifts and food basics. However, I recommend the Maxi Dia supermarket nearby (take the path through the hotel gardens during the day) where the 5 ltr bottles of water are much cheaper and you can really do a decent shop for essentials at a good price.
My only area of concern with the hotel is at the Disco Bar, you have to walk through the main Bar area to get to the enterainment/stage part.... the Bar area can get a bit congested when there are large groups of adults - so just keep a check on the kids if they are independant enough to wander between the Disco Bar and Games room/toilets etc. It's sometimes difficult to get through the crowd of adults in the bar area - so a child would struggle to be seen/heard and get through safely. Security staff are present in the evening to keep an eye on things, but we didn't see any problems.
We had a very good Rep for Thomas Cook (Paul) who gave a very informative welcome meeting (and looked after us well on the excursion) and we were introduced to staff from the hotel who told us about the entertainment and therapies on offer.
We would go back to this hotel again, and there's plenty to do in Benalmadena or you can go further afield to Fuengurola/Malaga etc. We only went on one trip this time, to Puerto Banus and Marbella as we wanted a chill-out week.
The hill that everyone mentions is not so bad unless you have mobility problems or pushing prams etc. You can take the shortcut through the carpark to make the incline less of a problem. Otherwise, look forward to beautifully toned legs to go with your tan at the end of your holiday.... and I hope you have as good a holiday as we did!
