“A fab week at Benalmadena Palace Hotel”
Reviewed 30 November 2011

This was our second stay at this hotel and I'm glad to say we weren't disappointed. We remembered many of the staff from our previous visit (two and a half years ago). We had to move rooms after the first night due to a problem with the first room smelling strongly of cigarette smoke (despite being no-smoking room). I have asthma, so this had caused me to feel ill. The problem was sorted without a fuss and we moved to another room and we were then able to enjoy the rest of the holiday. Our room was kept very clean and the Cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. The Reception team are excellent and nothing is too much trouble (especially Manuel and Trevor). It was lovely to see Patrice still running the entertainment with great enthusiasm. My child has outgrown the mini-club (much to my disappointment as I miss joining in with the kid's dances!), but we enjoyed the evening entertainment, quizzes, bingo and shows, as well as nipping into the games room. The hotel has a little kiosk shop which stocks gifts and food basics. However, I recommend the Maxi Dia supermarket nearby (take the path through the hotel gardens during the day) where the 5 ltr bottles of water are much cheaper and you can really do a decent shop for essentials at a good price.

My only area of concern with the hotel is at the Disco Bar, you have to walk through the main Bar area to get to the enterainment/stage part.... the Bar area can get a bit congested when there are large groups of adults - so just keep a check on the kids if they are independant enough to wander between the Disco Bar and Games room/toilets etc. It's sometimes difficult to get through the crowd of adults in the bar area - so a child would struggle to be seen/heard and get through safely. Security staff are present in the evening to keep an eye on things, but we didn't see any problems.

We had a very good Rep for Thomas Cook (Paul) who gave a very informative welcome meeting (and looked after us well on the excursion) and we were introduced to staff from the hotel who told us about the entertainment and therapies on offer.

We would go back to this hotel again, and there's plenty to do in Benalmadena or you can go further afield to Fuengurola/Malaga etc. We only went on one trip this time, to Puerto Banus and Marbella as we wanted a chill-out week.

The hill that everyone mentions is not so bad unless you have mobility problems or pushing prams etc. You can take the shortcut through the carpark to make the incline less of a problem. Otherwise, look forward to beautifully toned legs to go with your tan at the end of your holiday.... and I hope you have as good a holiday as we did!

Be warned the hotel is at top of very steep hill. Also at far end of resort so not much near by. 45 minute walk to marina where most of night life is. Hotel itself is fine, but not 4star. Wont return to hotel or resort.

Went to Benalamdena palace 20-27 November to celebrate my 50th birthday so glad we chose this hotel
We went self catering so I can't comment on the food, The Indoor Pool and Spa facilities are fantastic and we used them every day, The Nightly Entertainment was good something for everyone, The Hotel is kept really clean by the very hard working staff and the rooms are cleaned thoroughly 3 times a week, but towels and bedding and bedding are changed every other day, As for the hill it is not too bad unless you are very elderly or have walking difficulties, The hotel is about a 40 min walk from the Marina but a really nice walk, Can't wait to go back missing it already.

Room Tip: Pay a little bit more and go for a pool view room, you get the sun all day

We stayed at the Benalmadena Palace in August 2010 for one week and found it to be a first-class hotel. Facilities include:

Hotel:
- indoor games room (-pool, video games, etc)
- pay-per-use internet "cafe"
- outdoor courts for 5-a-side, tennis, basketball, etc
- picnic tables/chairs in grounds
- 2 outdoor swimming pools (adult/shallow)
- 1 indoor swimming pool
- fitness suite
- outdoor snack restaurant/bar (by pools) open all day
- indoor restaurant, great value evening buffet meal with loads of choice
- underground car park (pay per day) - but parking spaces fairly easy to find in vicinity

Rooms:
- We had a family room (1 double bed plus convertible sofa for third person)
- kitchen with hobs, microwave, fridge, kitchenwares, etc
- 19" tv.. AV sockets also your MP4 or portable DVD to connect
- balcony with chairs & sea or pool view
- hotel and rooms were very clean and modern

Immediate Location:
- Hotel is situated up a short, but steep hill: may be a problem for the elderly or disabled
- there is a supermarket 5+ minutes walk from the back gate (very reasonable prices)
- the centre of Benalmadena is a 15+ minute walk from the hotel, although the shops and restaurants begin much closer

Benalmadena:
- Parque de las Palomas: nice park with artificial lake, children's playgrounds, bars and cafes, bike hire, animals, etc
- El castello del Bil Bil : a small villa built in the Moorish style, free to visit. Nice fountains - on sea-front... romantic place to eat of an evening

Further Afield:
- Car hire fairly reasonable; the Spanish are generally good drivers (-better than UK) and signage is also very good. Here are some approximate driving times to different locations from the hotel:
- Seville: 3 hours
- Grenada: 1.5 hours
- Gibraltar: 2 hours
- Malaga: 30 minutes

just back from few days in benalmadena palace. Its a lovely place to stay, has a lot of facilities on site and for anyone travelling with children its a great base as you wouldn't need to leave premises to keep them amused. Indoor pool is a godsend in winter, kept spotlessly clean. Games room, internet, mini cinema and kids club that was on day and night make it great for families.can't get beny's music out of my head! Not really suited to noisy groups etc which is good. Patrice is a gem,he was fantastic and very hard working, you can see he loves his job.also the barman-forget his name, was born in uk,he was lovely.nightly entertainment was grand, magician was highlight for us but enjoyed the quizzes and had a great laugh in the pub meeting people. We only ate there once, salad bar was huge and very tasty but hot food is not hot enough and lacked inspiration, wouldn't take much to improve this.say the place is packed in summer so was ideal for us at this time of year. Also cardiac hill is fine unless your elderly or unfit but hotel now runs a minibus for 50cent to take you to beach and the town but its a nice stroll.Overall a great holiday and would love to go back again, lots of regulars stay which is a great sign too.you won't be disappointed.

Just back from another great holiday at the Palace, we were there for 4 weeks this time and going back in Feb for 3 weeks. Our next visit will be our 6th at the Palace.
The staff are a credit to the hotel, especially Simon in the disco bar who always looks after us,he is a star, Simon and Ruben make the best Pina Colada's on the Costa Del Sol.
Looking forward to Feb.Many thanks to the wonderful staff.
