We have returned from a short break to this hotel which has recently been taken over by MedPlaya.Com in April 2011. We stayed on the sixth floor with prebooked seaview rooms which had hairdryer, flat screen TV with British channels. Our room was spacious accommodating three. We even had complimentary toiletries. The public areas were spotless clean. The pool is a few steps down from the lounge area but a nice peaceful terrace with plenty comfy loungers and parasols. You could sunbathe until 17.00 which is sufficient. The lounge area had plenty books, newspapers and magazines for guests perusal. We booked half board but I would recommend room only I am not a fussy eater and will try anything but we ate outside, better choice of food. There is a luggage hold room but no shower room if you have a late return flight. We used the public toilet which served its purpose and was kept thoroughly clean by housekeeping. This is a small quiet hotel ideal for those up in years or those with families but bear in mind the pool is not divided between shallower end and deep end so for safety of youngsters keep this in mind. If you wish to travel around the Costas the public transport service is literally outside the hotel door. Nice promenade for evening walks. Visit the Star Bar where Sharon will make you most welcome!

Room Tip: Because of its excellent location you should upgrade to seaview prior to booking. All rooms have se...

Nice small hotel, pleasant staff in restaurant, did not use bar as we never stay in hotel on an evening. Always go out to bars outside. Food good but everything done in sauces, nothing plain for a plain eater like myself. Always chips, potatoes, rice, pasta, soup, and numerous meat or fish dishes. Breakfast was excellent, real sausages!! Good bacon, beans, potatoe slices, eggs, melon, toast, yoghurts (I asked for a strawberry one but said none) However next morning, the lovely waiter had put two on my table which I thought was a nice personal touch!
Good bedroom at the side but overlooking sea also, cleaned excellently every day and clean bedding middle of week. Always smelt nice afterwards. Air con which we used as even in September, it was 33 degrees every day.

For good cheap bars, head up the Cardiac Hill to Bonanza square , all bars cheap, 1 euro a pint or bottle of san miguel. Go to Marily Monroes bar, prob have to ask somebody where it is because quite hidden under block of apartments, lovely decor and couple who run it. Nice and relaxing and even cheap in there.

Room Tip: We were on floor 5 out of 6, very good views, busy main road but arent they all in Spain. I am sure...

just enjoyed a one week stay at the Villasol.
locals told us that the hotel was taken over by med playa in april and they had soon started to make improvements.
location is perfect, sea view rooms well worth the extra with amazing views across the marina and beach which is literally 50 metres away although 20 of them are down steps ;-)
staff were always attentive and helpful.
both hotel and room were clean and comfortable.
meals were lovely with plenty of choice.
pool although small was clean with plenty of sunbeds and bed mats.
bar is very nice and terrace bar is very popular with excellent service, prices are also better than on the seafront.
overall, we have stayed at similar hotels which were rated higher yet would not compare with our experience at Villasol....really good value for money.
would definately be happy to return.
.

Room Tip: sea nview rooms overlook the beach and sea, with a side sea view, you may get the noise of traffic f...

Myself and a group of friends stayed in the Villasol in July 2011. We stayed half board and was impressed with the breakfast and evening meal. Although the head waiter could be very grumpy!! The hotel compromises of a welcoming entrance hall and reception desk with polite and well manured staff, always happy to help. A coffee bar down the side of the hotel ( cant comment on this as we didn't use it) medium sized fresh water swimming pool but is very deep so no good for smaller children. The bedrooms i would give 8/10 they were kept clean and towels and linen was changed but were a little dated, the bedrooms we got were of a decent size as well. What I did notice in my stay at the Villasol was that it seem to attract stag party's and younger groups more then couples and families but don't let this put you off I am going back for my second time in September with my partner and 3 year old and I don't think any problems will acer. For what there is to do in benalmadena, well there is lots. i have been coming for 10 years and never get board. there is the Puerto marina which is a 7 minute walk away (turn right at hotel until you get to MacDonald's then turn right down the hill and your there) there is the crocodile park in torremolinos , Aqua land in torremolinos, Tivili World, Paloma park is one of my favourite's as you can go for romantic walks, drink and sunbath with your friends, or enjoy with your family seeing the animals run round loose or go to the parks. All in all I really enjoyed my stay at the villasol and i am returning this September!!!

Room Tip: Try get a sea view

Got a very good deal on this hotel for 4 days in July decided to pay the little bit extra for the option of taking evening meal and with two kids the buffet style was well worth it. Recently modernised, very clean and no chintz, its on the main road but no traffic noise whatsoever with windows shut and excellent, quiet aircon. Reception area nice with access to bar and views of pool. Restaurant was good lots of choice some spanish, english and other stuff found it well stocked and bar prices very resonable. Good location not too far from port in benalmadena, Paloma Park and beach. Only down sides are pool is small but perfectly formed and not ideal for kids and is down lots of steps so it was a struggle with 2 kids and a pram but clean and plenty of sunbeds, it also looses the sun by 3-4 ish. Access to beach which hotel is right on top of is also down lots of steps but take a left out of hotel and walk up road and there is a street that goes down to front with no steps. I definately stay here again for a short break.

I just spent 10 days in Villasol and very much enjoyed my stay. It is a relatively small three star hotel in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk to the sandy beach and the lively promenade with its bars, cafes and shops, ideal for an evening stroll or early morning jog. Also within 15 minutes walking distance was the marina with bars, restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors and opportunities for boat trips.
I had a lovely room with sea view and at night I left the balcony door open and could hear the sea! The room was a good size, clean with a comfy bed and decorated in warm appealing colours. To protect the environment you could decide when you needed fresh towels- I thought this was a great idea and very considerable and eco- friendly.
All the staff in the hotel were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was good, an excellent breakfast buffet with something for everyone, from full English to more continental and Spanish gazpacho and bread rolls with olive oil. The dinner buffet also offered a good variety of food, though being a vegetarian there was not much veg. However I never fell hungry as I had a big salad as a starter, then rice or pasta with the veg offered and cake and fruit as a desert. So if you are not fussy it is okay for vegetarians. The prices for the drinks in the restaurant were also very reasonable.
The bar was very nice with a good choice of drinks for very reasonable prices and lovely bar staff.
The pool was quite small but I thought it was okay as I usually used the beach anyway and just occasionally relaxed on a free sunbed by the pool. The pool was always very clean and the lovely flowers around the pool added a bit of colour.
Right in front of the hotel you could find the bus stop with frequent buses to Torremolinos and Malaga (absolutely worth a visit).
Most guests in the hotel were Spanish which I found very pleasant. I definately want to learn Spanish now as I think it is always nice to speak a countrie's language and be able to communicate with the people.
Overall I had a fantastic time and will definately come back.
Thanks for a great holiday.

Having arrived in Benalmadena on an unscheduled trip we spent a couple of hours searching for accommodation. The Villasol was suggested by a local shopkeeper and they were happy to give us a room. Only problem was this faced the main thoroughfare and the large windows were not doubleglazed so we had a very noisy night. Apart from that, staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Considering the cost the room did not have a fridge and water was not on offer in the room.

Room Tip: book early if you want a choice of rooms
