We arrived at the hotel late morning and were the only couple to have to wait for the room to be cleaned. Reception failed to check the progress and eventually we asked. A quick call to the room and we were able to go up!! We had been up all night, were very tired and could have done without this. Not a good start to our holiday.

The positives of this hotel: Very large rooms and generously large en-suites. Massive, extremely comfortable, beds and bedroom furniture. Exceptionally good double glazing which cut out all road noise. Effective and quiet air conditioning. A complimentary bottle of water on arrival. Very clean throughout. Lifts that didn't break down - which is always a plus - and also a lift down to the beach which stops at two other lower levels of the hotel. Furniture on the terrace is also designed with comfort in mind and you can lie in the shade and go to sleep for hours. Daytime activities, for those who wished to participate, were plentiful and the Entertainments Team - Danny and Laura - worked very hard to ensure that as many guests as possible enjoyed themselves. The quizzes and riddles were also very well organized and fun to take part in. Very relaxing in many ways.

The negatives: No vanity mirror above the dressing unit in the bedroom. Not all rooms have walk in showers. We had a bath shower which had been altered to 'shower' only. Elderly or infirm guests would have difficulty with this type of bathing facility, having to climb in and out. Tea/coffee making facility in bedroom, but don't expect any biscuits or any other beverages. Dining room clean and comfortable but the food left a lot to be desired. Out of the half board option breakfast was the best meal of the day. The evening meal left a lot to be desired. I felt that providing Cava at breakfast was a complete waste of money when we were expected to pay for water at evening meal. Why not dispense with the Cava and offer guests at least one glass of water at evening meal instead? The charge for water was extortionate. Evening entertainment also left a lot to be desired, where visiting acts were concerned, lacking atmosphere and audience. Ten of us went out every night to a bar across the road from the hotel where we all really enjoyed ourselves. There certainly was no generation gap as our ages ranged from 18 to 84.

This hotel is in a marvelous location but we wont be returning.

Room Tip: If you like to switch off the air conditioning and sleep with the verandah door open then ask for a...

We stayed at the hotel Rviera this week 4th visit to Benalmadana & 2nd visit to this hotel. We Are discerning travellers with a sharp eye for detail.. Last time we stayed here a few years ago it was like being in an O.A.P home . This time completely different smart/modern decor laminate floors/flat screen t.v's glass & stainless steel balastrades walk in wet room ,super king size bed ..the list goes on etc etc
Situated in the heart of the bars & entertaiment area of Benalmadana this hotel is ideally situated for night life yet is not affected by any road noise due to brand new double glazed windows & doors.

We stayed on a room only basis knowing that we can eat out cheap & convieniently when we want to eat.. Breakfast at miday etc - nice.

Sunbeds were available all the time we were there never a time without 2 being available for us to chill out on , Some reserving did go on by the inconsiderat minority but most guests showed due consideration for others.

We will definately return.. hopefully this year as this hotel would be very hard to beat.

Top tips book online room only & eat out - works out as cheap as half board & gives you freedom of choice. Rodeo steak house rump steak for 2 & a bottle of wine only 25 euros.

Do not book a transfer from airport collet cases & catch a 128 bus from just outside terminal building which drops you off just accross the road from the hotel at only 3.60 euroes each.

Room Tip: Choose an even number - pool view

I have just returned from a week at the Riviera Hotel with my boyfriend. We booked a premium room with sea view. The room was large with a fantastic balcony which got the sun all day. The bed was massive, you could have fit a family of six in it! But very comfortable. We received a bottle of cava and gorgeous fruit basket on our arrival. We also got the fridge for free. We only stayed on a b&b basis but could not fault the quality of food and the wide choice. We ate out at the marina most nights which is only a short walk along the seafront. I recommend spending the extra and opting for a premium room.

This was our first visit and we are thinking of returning. Room was spacious, clean with great walk in shower.
Adults only which was very restful.
There is a lift down to the promenade which runs along the beach edge. Turn left out of grounds and it is a short walk to the wonderful marina which a great place for morning coffee. Turn right and there is a great selection of restaurants.
I was using a mobility scooter and it was easy to get around the hotel and the promenade. We did not go up in to the town area as it is very hilly and the beach gave everything we needed. To get to the hotel restaurant there are some steps after getting out of the nearest lift but there is a longer way around using the promenade lift which also stops at the different levels of the grounds.
We only ate breakfast in the hotel which was adequate with a lot of choice.
All staff are helpful, friendly and efficient.

A good two week stay
This time we stayed on the street side of the hotel and like others have said the noise from the traffic isn't any good if you want to sit on the balcony and watch the world go bye
When the balcony door is shut the noise is thankfully kept out
No English tv other than sky news and CNN news on the usual half hour repeat
Would have been nice to watch a hour of tv before bed
42 € for the safe same for the fridge is a bit of a pants down experience
Food was ok ish but after 3 days we ate out every evening
Will we return???
Probably not there are better and cheaper options

Room Tip: Don't go to the dark side Luke
