Up at 4.30am for an early morning flight from Newcastle to Malaga, followed by a 20 minute taxi ride to arrive at 11am (ish) and when the taxi pulled up outside and although we'd only paid £75 for 3 nights bed only, I thought we 'd been ripped off. The door was squeezed beside a small tat shop and an Asian "Massage" parlour. No we didn't try it!The rest of the shops spread out either side so there is no grand marble entrance with a Bell Boy waiting for you. I can be accused of expecting a lot but this looked poor. I WAS WRONG. Inside the receptionist sorted us out a room for 8 middle aged (we still look good though!) men to get into shorts for a lunchtime beer (we had 6) whilst the rest of our 4 rooms were getting cleaned. And cleaned they were, every day for 3 days, you don't get that in some 4 star pads! The rooms at the back of the hotel overlook the pool and are quieter, ours had 2 balconies. The pool itself is a decent size and has a snack bar, but you do pay for your beds 1.8 euros a day. The rest of the hotel is of a similar standard and I CANNOT complain (& I DO like a moan) the staff were friendly, helpful & remembered my room number for me, which is handy at 3 in the morning after a 12 hour drinking session! The location is great as its 5 minutes from the Marina, Beach or Bars. The Marina is top class if you want to avoid the louder bars in the squares and very chill out. We went to Rena's Bar near 24 hour square (I think, I had a few beers by then so memory a bit hazy) which is the Sunderland FC supporters bar and was great watching SAFC (except the result was a defeat and Di Canio got sacked). We also went to the OLD Town (Peublo) which is very quaint and Spanishiy! All in All a great Trip and MS ALAY played its part, well worth staying.

Room Tip: Try and stay at the back as its quieter

We arrived at the reception to be given the choice of two rooms pool or road; strange ?? no deposit box in room reception said the key was taken home with the last persons ??? they must have taken all the pictures off the walls and the toilet roll holder plus some of the skirting .all the coat hooks and mirrors the curtain across the bed. as well . no tin opener no iron the patio door did not lock had to repair the bolt to lock the front door marks all over wall and floor loose electrical fittings .and how the room 315 the Bermuda triangle stay well clear of this room .

Room Tip: do not have room 315

We were a party of 12 family members who had booked for the weekend. When we arrived we were told by an exceptionally rude receptionist that there were no rooms available and our only option was to move to a nearby hotel for 2 of our 3 night stay and move back for the final night! This wasn't acceptable as we didnt want to start moving again midst our stay, especially as a member of our party had mobity issues. After a lot of

We have just returned from alay apartments after a 10 night stay,we couldnt wait to get home.My husband and i booked at these apartments in Jan 2013 after reading some of the reviews, all i can say is the people that wrote the reviews must of been staying somewhere other than at the Alay.i am 63 and he is 56 we requested an upper floor preferable at the back away from the road.we were allocated a first floor apt at the front above a supermarket, and were told this was all that was available needless to say we havnt had 1 good nights sleep. This is the only hotel where we have had to pay daily for a sunbed, the throw on the beds were dirty and all clicked the lock was brocken on the balcony door, and 2 days running we couldnt get into our room as workmen were in the bathroom in the loft, the toilet seat was also broken, the maid knocked a 6pm to clean. The whole place needs a full revamp, this is 1 place i would not recommend, the only thing going for it is thats its local to everything.

Room Tip: Dont go.higher floors at the back of the hotel,if you must
