“2 great weeks”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

We arrived at Las Arenas on may 22nd for 2 weeks this time and things haven't changed at all still friendly people on reception .We had asked for room 209 but we were unable to have it so we had room 211 smaller but much the same.
Food was still as good as before and so was the service, must say on some very busy times you had to que for the salad prob was you didn't know if it was for the salad or the main course.
This time we took the bus to Mijas we were so surprised as the last time we went we didn't go up to the town centre,so pretty up there all blue tubs on the walls with pretty flowers in
We got the bus to Malaga bit of a mistake as it took 1hr to get there so we would suggest the train at Benalmadena as it only takes about 20 mins and costs about 2 euros.
On a Wednesday there is a flea market next to the park just like our car boots and I loved it strolled around for 2 hrs on my own.
Cannot wait to come back again cannot fault this hotel at all..
Only put 4 rateing for sleep quality as there were some gentlemen golfers staying at the same time as us and one was in the next room to us and unfortunately I could here him snoreing kept me awake some nights.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay at this hotel. This was our first visit and we enjoyed our stay. We had a sixth floor room overlooking the sea and this was clean and it had everything we needed, including a handy fridge to keep water etc cool. The staff were all attentive and friendly throughout the day. We found the selection of food at breakfast and dinner plentiful and varied. On the evenings we saw the entertainment, we enjoyed what was on offer and our favourite was Mr Peng, a Lionel Ritchie tribute act - excellent.
The pool, located on the roof of the bar is not the prettiest, but we found it a good place for us to cool off in the afternoon. The hotel's happy hour from 5-6pm is extremely popular and proved very enjoyable.
The hotel's situation on a busy main road is not the best of locations, but it clearly does not put off the high number of guests who turn on a regular basis.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms on floor 5 have a view of the sea rather than the pool and get sun in the aftern...

We stayed at Las Arenas at the beginning of May and had a very enjoyable stay. When we arrived the receptionist at the hotel was rather brusque but perhaps she was having a bad day! All the other staff however were very friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant staff were very pleasant, attentive and hard working. The room we were allocated was not the most spacious we have stayed in but was adequate except for the amount of wardrobe space which was a bit on the small side.
We thought the variety and quality of the food in the hotel was very good. We have stayed in many 4* hotels and the Las Arenas restaurant was certainly up there amongst the best. The evening entertainment in the hotel was very good with a variety to suit most tastes .Around and adjacent to the swimming pool and also in front of the hotel are very pleasant areas for sitting out. . The position of the hotel, despite being on a dual carriageway, is very convenient for the beach across the road, shops, restaurants and bus services to places like Torremolinos and Fuengirola.
We made the mistake of going on the “free blanket trip” to Malaga. This involved being split into groups of about a dozen people, each group in a separate closed, windowless room to endure a VERY LONG session with a high-pressure saleswoman selling mattresses and bedding. Not a recommended way to spend the last day of one’s holiday! We were not amused!
Having to trundle our cases 100 yards to and from the bus to the hotel was a minor inconvenience but not enough to make a fuss about. What WAS an inconvenience was that when waiting for the return bus to take us back to the airport, people and their luggage were getting soaked by the sprinkler system in the grounds of the adjacent apartment block.

I can only reiterate my previous comments on how good this hotel is in every way. The staff are the most friendly I have ever come across and nothing is too much trouble. Special thanks to Ava and Stephanie at reception who went out of their way to accommodate us. Can't wait until our next visit.

Just returned from 2 weeks holiday at this hotel. When we arrived we were given a room on floor 1 which was not what we wanted however nice man on reception gave us another room on floor 7 which was brilliant we had a lovely view and would ask for this room again!! The hotel was very good all the staff in the restaurant were all happy and greeted you cheerfully as were the waiters in bar . The food was fine something for everyone However perhaps the salad bar could be put somewhere else because you had to queue even if you didn't want salad that's just a small point. Pool area was ok but the beach was across the road so we went there because the beds were more comfortable, there is no pool bar you go and get drinks from bar.
When we wanted a taxi staff on reception ordered for us which was very helpful. Most guests are couples over 50
We will return to this hotel maybe later this year and hope we find the hotel just as good.
Thank you staff at las arenas.

This was our second visit and once again we had a room with the most terrible smell of sewage. We did not believe it would happen again So we will not return .We where told they have a problem with drains and nothing can be done. The staff where very good. But if you book this hotel you may have to put up with this really terrible smell. We had to buy 3 cans of air spray to freshen the bathroom.

Room Tip: rooms on both sides have terrible smell

Very run down from my last visit. staff extremely helpful but in my view over worked. This hotel needs a complete urgent update. The entertainment is nothing compared to other hotels and the selection of foods in the restaurant is of a poor quality and very basic. Glass doors in the bathroom are very dangerous especially for senior guests and rubber mats are a requirement in the bath to prevent accidents. Rooms are clean and bright with good sea views. The only bonus at this hotel is that the beach is directly across the road. Very disappointed from what I had expected, nothing there to entice me back again. Only a taxi is allowed to stop outside of this hotel and coaches do not pick up or drop off at the entrance. One needs to walk a short distance with your luggage to and from the nearby bus stop which is a slight inconvenience.

Room Tip: request a poolside sea view room on the fourth floor.
