“Still A Very Good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

There have been some changes since we last visited this hotel mainly to the evening entertainment programme. This is the first time that we have been in July and the entertainment was now geared towards the Spanish guests. There was nothing wrong with it but it wasn't all to our taste. We enjoyed Ricky who still gives a great show and also the Spanish dou who played on Friday evening. Apparently the English based entertainment will return later in the year.
That out of the way we still really enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very good. I would particularly like to mention Eva on reception who, even though it was late when we arrived, helped us with our room and very quickly sorted out my Wi Fi.
The restaurant is very well run by the head waiter who greeted us with a hand shake on our arrival. This really does make you feel at home. The tables were cleared quickly and we only had to wait once to be seated at the weekend when it was very busy. There is an excellent variety of food, something for all tastes, well cooked and well presented.
The bar staff were also excellent, we hardly had to wait at all to be served and always with a smile.
The rooms are typical of a hotel. They were well cleaned every day, had a fridge and a hair drier in the bathroom.
The only thing that stops me giving it a 5 rating is the main road at the front of the hotel. I stress that this did not bother us but it is very busy.
We will be back again.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool get the sun in the morning and on the other side get the sun in the afte...

Stayed for two weeks half board middle of June, hotel was very clean , staff are very polite , entertainment was v.good every night. There are two seating areas at the front of the hotel , one outside of the indoor bar where you are served drinks, then what we called the relaxing area by the entrance where you can sit and relax and people watch. The Hotel is across the road (which can get busy)from the beach . To the right of the hotel there are plenty of food and drink to be had and the usual small holiday shops.
If you have odd numbered rooms you are poolside with morning sun, even are late afternoon sun and overlooking offices . Neither side is noisy and you get side sea views .
Taxis are easy to order from reception but do not try to figure the pricing out , to the harbour less than 10 mins down the road we were charged 5 euros to 8.50 euros , I think it depends on the drivers mood. Buses are roughly every 30 mins to an hour depending where you are going.
One thing to mention on your drop off by coach from the Airport is because there is only a small pull in area by the Hotel the coach drops you off 100-150 yards away from the Hotel. If you have a taxi ( 28 euros as of June 2014) you will be dropped off right outside.
Our two weeks holiday was very enjoyable and a quiet Hotel and the staff are some of the best we have come across, they do not linger for Tips or ignore you at all.
The food was very good , hot at all times , but the salad bar is in front of the main meals and it can cause queues.
There is a great park behind the Hotel where you can have a walk and stop for a drink, lovely in the evening.
Thirty minutes to walk to the Marina if you are fit where there are plenty of shops, but on the way there are plenty of bars with entertainment as well.
Lovely area and will return .

Room Tip: Towards the front of the Hotel third or fourth floor even numbers.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE just invest a little something into taking the chill off the pool its such a shame that it hardly gets used and the recurring thing after talking to regulars is the coldness of the pool. I came January and April this year and looking at the hotels in Benalmadena except for the Sahara behind the Las Arenas and the Benalmadena Palace on the hill the facility for indoor / heated outdoor pool are seldom in the area. Do us a favour and take the chill off and not only will that appeal to a huge more of your clients old and new but give you another selling point in the "colder months".
Nothing to say really about the 2 stays this year excellent as usual and returning 4-18th January 2015 - cant wait - hopefully to a warmer pool as well that would be awesome.

My husband and I have just returned from two great weeks at this hotel and cannot find anything to complain about, room spotless, shower best we have experienced, food delicious and a good location for beach which was just across the road in front of hotel and a great promenade.

My wife and I, plus our three children 17,19 & 21 have just returned from a brilliant two week holiday at the Las Arenas. We eventually chose after reading the excellent reviews here on Trip Advisor and am pleased to say that I too can now write an equally enthusiastic one.

As many have commented, the Hotel is clean and very well maintained. Everything such as taps, toilet, locks, lights etc. worked as they should. The rooms are cleaned daily and the communal areas kept just as tidy. One day we even witnesed one of the staff cleaning out the dust and dirt in a groove at the bottom of one of the lift doors -great attention to detail!

We had rooms on the opposite side to the pool on the third floor, which overlooked a pleasant courtyard and with side views of the sea and in the other direction the mountains. This had the sun in afternoon which was great for drying the swimming towels and costumes. The room had its own air-con unit with a remote control, a nice flat screen TV (go to higher number channels for English programming). We rented the large room safe (plenty of room for a SLR camera and lots more!) for 2 euros a day, plus a 5 euro returnable key deposit, which I didn't think was too bad. The beds were quite large singles, and note that the mattresses were quite firm.

The pool and deck was clean and tidy with plenty of umbrellas and we never had any problem finding five sunbeds in a row at anytime of the day. Make sure you bring your own swimming towels though, you can't use the room ones.

The dining room was really pleasant and the choice of food both for breakfast and evening meal quite vast! In the morning you could have a good old fry up or choose from a great selection of fresh breads and rolls, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, pastries and cakes. You could have a selection of fruit juices from the dispenser and tea/coffee was served to your table almost as soon as you sat down, which was great. In the evening, the menu was varied everyday and I particularly appreciated the good selection of fish and sea food. You do have to allow for the cost of drinks evening time, and most people seemed to go for bottled water at 1.50 euro for 50cl, so remember to budget for this. Also, we found that the dining room was really quiet before 9 am and before 8/8.30pm, but got quite busy with some queing thereafter.

The Hotel staff were all very polite, friendly and efficient. We didn't have a bad word to say about anyone.

Having walked past many others, the Hotel's location is probably one of the best in the area. Although next to the main road, we didn't find this to be a problem. On the contrary, it afforded us quick and easy access to the beach and promenade, with a pleasant walk to the lovely Marina. Bus stops were very close and we used the local buses several times, buying a discount card from the nearby tobaconist, which saved 30% on single fares -any journey was just 1.08 euro - even to Malaga. Paloma Park was just a few minutes to the rear of the Hotel which was a terrific place to wander around, particularly in the cool of the evening.

Don't hesitate, book your holiday at the Las Arenas, you will not be disappointed.

Thank You very Much for your great comments and review, I am so happy that Las Arenas fulfilled your expectations of a wonderful holiday, I hope that, if you decide to come over to Benalmádena, you choose us back again!!

Just one little concern, I have read in your review that you advise future guests to bring their own towels for the pool…. The thing is …. We offer this service at Las Arenas!! It´s a matter of asking at reception for your pool towel… ;-)

Looking forward to welcome you back in a future holiday.

Best Regards

We stayed here last year during a family break. We thought it was a very nice hotel, very clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful, especially those working in the restaurant. Our rooms were nice, had great sea views. The food was lovely, a great selection each night. I would recommend.
