We returned from Las Arenas Hotel on 26th May 2009 after a fantastic weeks holiday. My Fiancee booked it for me as a surprise birthday treat and i couldn't have asked for anything better!
The Hotel was absolutely brilliant in everyway possible, we were allocated our room which was on the 6th floor (the top) and it had the biggest sun terrace/balcony we have ever seen, which also had 2 sunbeds, a table and 2 chairs (room 602). The room itself was the perfect size, a large comfy double bed, mirrored wardrobe, tv with satellite, fridge (free of charge) and the bathroom had all the amenities with a seaview window, towels were replaced whenever you wanted and also the shampoo and shower gel.

The Food in las arenas was once again fantastic, a wide variety to suit everybody, fresh steak, chicken, hamburgers and fish were cooked every night and then apart from that they had fresh pizza's, vegetables, chips, wedges, salad, cold meats, cheeses etc, and more, the desserts were also plentyful lots of choice from ice creams, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, rice pudding etc. The restaurant was never overcrowded either at dinner or breakfast so was a lovely place to sit and relax to eat, tea or coffee is also brought to your table at breakfast.

We used the happy hour in the hotel for a couple of nights and it was cheap compared to what you would pay elsewhere, the drinks were 2 x 1 and they were all named brands, for example the real malibu, tia maria, vodkas, wine, beer etc and not the cheap crap that you might get elsewhere. We would definetly recommend it!

The hotel is in a great location for everything, 10 min walk to marina, beach 10 steps across the road, bars either direction when you come out of the hotel, paloma park just behind, the cable car 5 min taxi journey and much more!

We would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone and will no doubt be returning, some people on previous reviews said that the hotel was full of senior citizens but we didnt find this, there were people of all ages, for example we are 19 and 20.

There certainly isn’t any sign of recession at the Las Arenas Hotel which was surprisingly busy for the time of year (early May). The reason is simple – this 4* Hotel provides great food, excellent service and good, clean accommodation at a value for money price. Proof of this is the large number of guests who return time and time again (we spoke to an elderly couple who had been 8 times!).

The hotel is not perfect with no temperature control on the air conditioning or any tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms but this can be forgiven when taking account of the overall cost. There are too many steps getting up to the main bar and especially the pool area for someone like me with mobility issues but these can be avoided by accessing the bar from the outside via ramps and a service lift. Whilst this is somewhat inconvenient the staff are very helpful and so this hotel can cater effectively for the disabled.

The dining room is nearly always busy but the smartly dressed waiters/waitress are extremely efficient and, together with the kitchen staff, mealtimes are run with military precision. There was always a good selection of tasty hot food which were regularly replenished so nothing was left out for hours.

Breakfast was acceptable with the usual choice of cereal, fresh fruit, etc and bacon, sausage, egg, beans and tomato for an acceptable English breakfast. In the evening there was a choice of meats (beef, steak , pork, chicken and veal) and fish (salmon, tuna, swordfish, hake, sardines etc) with various salads, vegetables and potato products followed by a choice of fresh fruit (melon, pineapple, strawberries) deserts, cakes and ice cream. My only criticism was that virtually the only soup available was vegetable and, to a much lesser extent, the menu is on a weekly schedule so it could get boring for long-stay guests.

Whilst we were at the hotel most of the guests were over 50’s (85%) with the majority being over 60, so the hotel was generally quiet during the night. There were some younger couples, a few golf and stag/hen parties but very few children and no teenagers although I’m sure this will change during the peak season. Although the hotel caters for all nationalities at least 90% were either British or Irish.

We now have a problem when we choose our next holiday because we might be disappointed if we go to a different hotel as the Las Arenas has now set a higher standard than we have been used to of late.

Went with my mam for a week of just relaxation. I'm in my 20s and she in her 50s. Suited us both down to the ground, Would go back in a flash!! Place was spotless, food was amazing, staff so friendly and evening entertainment never a let down. Absolutely amazing choice of food for breakfast and dinner. Definitely worth staying half board here.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful and really helped to make the stay an enjoyable experience.
Beach just across the road and various bars, restaurant and the usual gift shops line the streets outside the hotel. But we found hardly any need to leave the hotel apart from go to the local supermarket for water!
Internet provided in the hotel but it is quite expensive, 1 Euro for 15 mins!! Probably to avoid people queing for ages and make sure you get off the computer and enjoy your holiday!
Our room was lovely but we were in room 126, which is near a door outside for staff only so from early on a lot of banging could be heard when cleaning staff used this door i think! But they were only small glitches. Room was cleaned every day spotlessly and bathroom was lovely and had a lovely bath!
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to go away and just relax for the week! Hope to go back again this summer

Stayed for 9 nights at Las Arenas after booking through Monarch Hotels website plus extra discount through Quidco. Lovely clean hotel in good location with good food and friendly efficent staff. Majority of guests were aged 60+. Rooms were slightly on the small side but ok. Hotel on a busy road which can disturb light sleepers. Dining room was too small when the hotel was full and felt like a busy canteen at times. No drinks service around the pool. The vending machine was out of order for entire visit. Lovely beach across the road with a bar for lunch. 2 sunbeds cost 8 euros for the day. The Horizon bar down the road offers happy hour all afternoon and a cheap lunch for 5 euros. Water is cheaper to buy at the small supermarket behind the hotel. On the whole a nice place to stay.

I stayed at Las Arenas with my brother and parents for 5 nights. It was without doubt the best value for money I have had in a long time. The hotel is spotlessley clean, the staff are very efficient and the service is excellent. Some reviews mention the rooms were small, we did not think this was an issue there was enough room for everything, the rooms were clean and the bathroooms modern. The food was the best surprise the choice was excellent and unlike other hotel buffets the food was constatnly refilled so it didn't matter what time you choose to eat. I would definitely go back and recommend this hotel to others. If you get a good deal on the price this is definitely the one to pick.

The hotel was ideally located on the main road through Benalmadena Costa, right opposite the beach. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The variety of food was fantastic for non-vegetarians, but there was limited choice of main meals for those who didn't want meat or fish. The choice of desserts was amazing! We had two rooms on the 6th floor which had fantastic views and were less noisy than those lower down (the main road in front of the hotel is busy all the time). A variety of evening entertainment was provided, but it wasn't really to our tastes. Would certainly consider staying there again.
