We have just come back from a week here. It is a clean hotel, the staff are lovely, very large so keeps you fit as the water park is across the road over a very winding footbridge at the other end of the complex.
The water in all the pools was very cold you had to be brave or a child to go in, but there are a variety of different water pools and spray areas which did look good fun but there was not enough signage telling you what you could and couldn't go on eg: the rapids in the cavern that nobody knew if they could go on. The slide was only open a couple of days and you had to pay to rent the inflatable ring needed to go on. There were plenty of sunbeds we never had a problem getting them.
The food was Luke warm at best it was tasty but the veggie choice was sparce at best, even a lot of the salad dishes had meat or fish in so some meals a bit tricky, rest of family always managed to find something.
The hotel itself is situated in between two towns neither were in walking distance which is what we enjoy, the buses are easy to catch right outside, but you have to run the gauntlet with the timeshare reps and trip reps, which no one warns you about before hand. The bus is cheap and clean and benalmadena harbour was lovely.
The local beach is ok, about 5-10 minute walk away, if you keep walking along the beach you will eventually find some nice shops.
On the whole not a bad holiday a bit big and overpowering for us, but if you want to stay on site and have a lively venue it might suit you.

We spent 7 days at the Holiday Village and chose the hotel particularly for the children. The transfer from airport was quick and easy. April appealed to us as the weather is great but not too hot for our baby.
We were staying in room 550 on the top floor which overlooked villas and the sea. The room was spacious and perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. The added bonus of a kettle and microwave really helped when it came to preparing baby food etc.
The hotel itself is huge. We did use the indoor pool on the one morning it was a little overcast outside. It was heated but remember to buy swimming hats as they must be worn in this pool. The on-site shop was great. You could buy snacks, gifts, papers, inflatables and they also had a range of baby food, nappies and juices.
We didn't use the Irish bar so cant comment on that but the piano bar was great to grab a drink and the main bar where they held the entertainment was excellent.
Also inside was the kids clubs. Our 5 year old did attend a couple of sessions like 'sweetie bingo' and searching for mini beasts which she absolutely loved.
They also had a cinema where they played some football matches and an internet suite.
The main buffet restaurant had a great selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No one will go hungry! We did use the Italian and tex mex restaurant once each. We favoured the food in the Italian.
All pools were great and I would definitely recommend the beach club for the children!
The entertainment was second to none and I cannot even choose a favourite entertainer as they were all equally excellent with the children. We particularly enjoyed i5live!
We did get a bus to the Marina one day which we thoroughly enjoyed. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and its about a 10-15 minute ride.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely use this hotel again or even try another holiday village elsewhere. We were incredibly looked after by reception and I must mention Mel from the first choice team who bent over backwards to ensure everyone had an enjoyable time and worked flat out all hours!

Room Tip: Sea view was great.

This is a fantastic place to go for a family holiday. It's clean and very welcoming with excellent staff. Everyone was friendly and the entertainment and Kids' Club team were superb. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves by the pool while the children played and were entertained by the First Choice reps. The Kids' Club is fantastic and our kids went to different events every day. In the evening the adult entertainment is good and is still suitable for the children if they're getting to stay up late on holiday. The rooms are good and spacious enough for four and the food was varied and enjoyable. I thoroughly recommend this holiday for families and commend First Choice and the hotel on a job very well done. We'll almost certainly go back to the Benalmadena Holiday Village again, I want to try the others too, but they've now got a lot to live up to!

We are lucky enough to visit Benalmadena a couple of times a year. My husband and I 40 and 39 and we have 2 children age 16 and 9 we thought they this year we would try the holiday village. (2nd visit-last went 4 years ago)
The flight over was over very Quickly and the transfer was also quick.
We arrived at the hotel and had our all inclusive bands on, was given a tv remote, vouchers for free pool towels and we purchased a safe.
Polite kind reception staff, a great staff. And a wi fi code which can be used on the bottom 2 floors.
We were room 359 - 3rd floor looking over the hills at the back towards Toremulelle where our parents live and also had a sea view. Large spacious room, temperate bedroom with 2 double beds, a loving room with a sofa bed that converted into a double bed, table-chairs tv, 2 huge double wardrobes, a kitchen, balcony with table an chairs and a huge bathroom with a shower over the bath and a seperate walk in shower, bidet and 2 sinks.
There is plenty to do for all ages here, activities from early morning to midnight, kids clubs that go on to 11pm and most are included on the price. Food is good, plenty of choice. Areas around the hotel and pools are kept clean and tidy.
There is a water park over the bridge with a soccer school and swimming lessons, spa an gym downstairs with an indoor pool.
There is a show bar, the piano bar, an outside snack bar and an Irish huge bar open to 2am but you pay after midnight which is fair enough.
There are free shuttle bus's taking you to benalmadena - we went to
The market had a great time.
Not far from the train station either to get you all over.
The best part of our holiday apart, from seeing our parents as they live there was the entertainers. They just could not do enough for you, they work flat out to entertain and get you to join in, never pushy! We played mini golf, skittles, raft building, circus skills water polo. The list was endless. There was a panto, bingo every night, kids mini disco. Pool party was amazing we all dances in the pool 87 of us!
Thank you to all of the reps, just a few, Charlie, Rich, Emma, Paige, Tom, Ben there were so many. These guys made it for us.
However, the pool was closed off one day an all activity stopped. The pool is checked regularly and the life guards said "everybody out"
When you go to the welcome meeting, everyone is told if you need the loo go to the toilet, babies must be in swimming nappies. If tests show poo on the water the pool closes for the east of the day an everyone suffers.
Well that's what had happened an the pool was closed. Never mind the reps did all sorts out of the pool.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone, it's fab. :-D X

We went here summer of 2012 not 2013 as in description as wouldn't let me put 2012 !!!, hotel was busy but with the water park just across the bridge we always got sunbeds. Hotel staff were nice and entertainment team were good, Beach was across road but not very nice there is a better beach if you travel up the road towards the main street with restaurants and the marina. You can quite easily get a bus to and from here which stops right outside the hotel on the main road.
We went to selwo dolphin show and that was very good for a small charge we could get in and touch the dolphins and learn a few of their tricks.
Rooms were nice we had a room on the top floor which i was a little unsure of because of having a 5 year old at the time but the view from the balcony was staggered down with the other floors so wasn't a sheer drop if that makes sense although from the front of our room was and there a number of glass lifts that take you up and down. There is an inside pool but we never used it so cant comment. We booked self catering but then upgraded once at the hotel to all in as this was quite a bit cheaper than booking all in with first choice. Reps were nice but they definitely picked their favourite holiday makers if you know what i mean. All in all it was nice and i would return there.
