“Wonderful holiday”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Just returned from amazing holiday travelling with husband and 9 year old son. The hotel was spotless as were the rooms which were really spacious. Beds lovely and comfy and maids did a great job. All staff were great. Food was good quality although I preferred the food over at the beach club side, but this was only open for lunch, maybe in peak its open in evening also. Got a bit the same towards the end but maybe that was just my choices. Staff in restaurant were also so efficient and helpful.

The kids club was so good, my son went to nearly every session and did snorkelling, archery, cross bows etc, he loved it made some good friends and adored the staff (he fave's were Ashley and the two Georges). When we picked him up from the final session he was very upset and said it was the best holiday he'd ever been on and made me promise we would return.

Little grips were WiFi was a bit inconsistent, but who really needs that when on holiday and you had to pay to use the indoor pool and gym, which I thought was a bit poor being in a AI Hotel.

My ONLY complaint is the pool was freezing!!! But again, we were at the beginning of the season.

On the whole, great holiday, will return.

Room Tip: We didn't pay extra for Pool view but still got a nice sea and mountain view.

Had a lovely week and would definitely return. The food was fine- I didn't really like the trek to the beach bar each day for lunch with the pushchair but it kept us active.
We had gone with our one year old and had been provided with a travel cot. Unfortunately this was in the living room so at night we couldn't use this room to relax for fear of waking him! But other than that the room was very child friendly.
The crèche was fantastic. We were wary of leaving our son with strangers but the professionalism, attitude and friendliness of Katie and the girls soon put us at ease and it meant we could get a couple of hours peace from a very active boy! They did structured activities with the kids and my son really enjoyed it. Massive thank you to Katie for helping us all to have a great holiday.

Dear Guest,

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your recent holiday.

With regards to the location of the cot in your living room, with a little re-adjustment of the bedroom furniture, we could have placed it in the bedroom if you had requested it.

Many thanks and we hope that you consider us for any future holidays.

What started off a very cloudy rainy week ended brilliantly!! But you can't control the weather, which is always a shame..

The location of the hotel isn't the best, as there isn't anything within walking distance other than the beach, which is nice, but you don't really need it as there's everything you need in the hotel! Arcades, pool tables, bars, shop, all sorts. Which we took full advantage of on the rainy days.. The food is your standard all inclusive buffet, but I always found something nice to eat and I'm a very fussy eater.. The Italian restaurant, where you get one 3 course meal on your all inclusive, was beautiful, I couldn't fault it. But the tex-mex was somewhat questionable :/ I didn't enjoy it at all, but that might just be a one off.. The rooms are kept clean and tidy and all the staff are very friendly and polite..

To sum it up: We both had a lovely holiday despite the weather, and would certainly go back here in the future.

My husband and I took a late deal to this hotel in the Easter holidays. We knew it would be full of families but needed a break and went as it was a good deal.
WE arrived to a warm welcome, staff always welcoming and helpful on reception, and ensured when we also had a problem with the air con that it was rectified within the hour.
The room was great for two people as it had a bedroom, 2 large beds lounge area with pull out bed, huge bathroom and kitchenette with fridge and hob( plus all crockery needed). Lots of cupboard space and a large patio area with table and chairs - we had paid extra for sea view and I would advise this as every morning we woke and looked out at the sea one morning seeing dolphins!
Shower gel, shampoo, comb, hairdryer all provided. Towels changed as you requested. Sheets changed twice in the week.
The dining room was so well organised - the maître de's need medals - serving staff cleared tables quickly and pleasantly. The food was of good quality - always something to enjoy - lots of salad choice too - we ate carb free so we could enjoy the alcohol ha! Food was provided in our room as we arrived late on the evening - so thoughtful!
As a couple and worrying about lots of children we ate breakfast about 9.30 and it was very quiet. We ate our meal at 8/8.30 and once again quiet! Much better than other non family led holidays!!!!!!!
We also found a small beach on walking out of the hotel and down to the left (not right where the reps suggested), it was empty apart from Sundays when locals appeared there! So a lot of peace and quiet.
We also found that he amazing children's water park (with pirate boats, water sprinklers, lots of pools, wave pool and slides, with rings) was quieter than the main pool area, and could always find a quieter spot with sea views.
For children there is everything - mini golf , fly jumps, high ropes course, football academy, slides, pools, all aged clubs and on an evening after 11pm the Irish bar offers teens a good 'disco' with music where the reps get everyone involved.
The reps were amazing with the children - really lovely and appeared good fun! The reps had loads of local knowledge and thanks to Mel and Rich we were able to visit lots of different areas and they had lots of helpful tips.
Evening entertainment is ok - Irish bar good. There is a bar where musicians play and sing - good but all the artists all sing similar things and it does get a bit tedious - but ok.
The main area is good for children. The rock night was good - other entertainment not so great - but maybe not our thing at this resort??? usually enjoy though.
The Mexican restaurant is worth going to, as is the Italian but the pizza bases are like frozen dough and tough so do not expect it to be like home and we would avoid it !!!!! You can go to these two restaurants once each week you stay!
Beach towels are provided and you get to change them twice a week!!!
Gym ok. Indoor pool lovely.
Very very clean hotel!!!
Location wise - it is out on a limb - halfway between Fuengerola and Benalmadena, however we walked down to a nice little restaurant on the edge of Fuengerola - 15 mins away, coming back is up hill. The buses are excellent - cheap and easy to use. Loads of taxis outside the hotel - but not cheap 15 - 18 euros to either resort (sorry cant spell them!)
Ideal - we would go back - even when there are lots of children.

Room Tip: Definitely pay extra for a sea view - we were on the top floor fifth! two blocks of rooms that overl...

Upon arrival we thought this was a great place, giving value for money and good facilities. Rooms were excellent, spacious and clean as was the rest of the hotel spaces we saw. Staff were friendly and helpful and the kids entertainment team were exceptional. However it soon all went wrong for us. All three of us, including our 5 year old son came down with violent sickness and diarrhoea which lasted days. What do we put this down to? The food standards and cleanliness of the eating areas and serving equipment/crockery/cutlery/tables, etc. upon first glance you think everything is fine, but look a bit closer and you will see it is not as it should be. Finding a clean plate in the restaurant is not easy, food stuck to bottoms of plates, food stuck to tops of plates. The table cloths are not changed or even brushed down so you sit on a tables with the previous persons mess on them. The cups/glasses were all stuck together in the restaurant you had to pull them apart. The tongues for serving were all over the place not in the dish they were intended for. The snack bar had a bread bin which looked years old, the plastic cover was mottled and had a big crack down it, it was also full of crumbs which could not have been just from that day. The food was luke warm and the serving dishes were not clean. You may only notice these things if you look really close, but I assure you it is the case. I am sure lots of people have enjoyed their holiday here, not everyone is going to get ill, however, an immediate inspection is required and it needs bringing up to standard. Our rep was informed of our illness and took our details and he also informed me that there had been problems in the past and that they had been asked to report each case individually. If this standard continues it will only get worse of the season continues.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time and reviewing our hotel.

We are sorry to hear that you were ill whilst at our hotel. May we take this opportunity to inform you that all our installations are inspected fortnightly by two seperate Health and Safety Agencies and they have never found anything that could be hazardous to our guests.

What you may have suffered from is Norovirus and as many people know, this can be picked up very easily from other passengers at airports, on planes, buses, etc. It is a virus that attacks the stomach and intestines and gives the same symptoms that you explained earlier and is at it´s highest in hot temperatures.

We hope you feel better soon and that you may consider us for any future holidays.

Having never been to Spain before, I didn't know what to expect. We arrived and had a prompt check in service and were directed to our room. You need to pay for a key for the safety deposit box, you need to get vouchers to get pool towels, and the rooms do not have a TV remote, all these need to be got from reception - I would advice asking for them at checkin. The room was light and spacious, with a kitchen, that equipment for 4 people, hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. I would maybe suggest Kitchen towel and a cloth in the kitchen for when you have used the facilities. We only used the kettle, cups and glasses but I do like to clean up after myself. On arrival there were two bottles of water in the fridge, a welcome gesture especially if you arrive at night. The bathroom was large , a bath with shower over, two basins, a toilet, bidet and a separate shower cubicle. The main area had a sofa bed, table and chairs tv etc. We did have to make up the sofa bed ourselves, but im sure if we had rung reception they would have send someone. The bedroom was large with two queen sized beds. Both the bedroom and Lounge area had large wardrobes. Our room overlooked the mountains and the railway line, trains seem to go past every 20 minutes from 6 am - 11pm, but they werent overly noisy and didn't disturb us, but they may some people.

The food was excellent and there was a wide variety to choose from, however at lunchtime and in the evening there didn't seem to be an option to have coffee after your meal. Wine, beer , soft drinks were available from the self service bar area. The day we arrived the lunch location was change to the beach club, it was quite a walk, but well worth it, if you didn't fancy the walk, there was a snack bar close to the pool. The only downside with the lunch at the beach club was on Easter Sunday, it rained extremely heavily all day and it wasn't a pleasant journey there and back., the day after (another rainy day) lunch was in the main restaurant which was much easier. Getting a booking in the themed restaurants wasn't particularly easy and at both we ended up with a 9pm slot, and not on our days of choice,

My children were disappointed to find the waterpark wasn't open everyday and i had got the impression it would be. I must also say that having to pay to use the rings is something we have never experienced before. The pools and surrounding areas were kept clean at all times, and I found the astroturf a good idea, so many holidays someone slips on the area around the pool or your feet get burnt. There was one downside the pool was closed on a couple of occasions due to 'bodily waste matter' Why on earth people don't use swim nappies I don't know, however rumor did have it that a pool attendant said that on one occasion, there was no way it was a child's production. I believe on one of the rainy days, there was also and incident in the indoor pool.

We did a couple of trips, one to the crocodile park and one on the cable car ride, booked with First Choice and got the usual good service and value for money. The cable car didn't include transport, but the hotel receptionist was really helpful, directions to the train station, etc. Information on how much a taxi would (should) cost.

I have left the best until last The First Choice Team, the are relentless, they never seem to stop, on the go all day, nothing is too much trouble, activities and fun around the pool all day, kids clubs, climbing, football, swimming. then in the evening they transform kids show, bingo, quiz, themed show. Rich (aka Kenneth from Benidorm,), Paige, Ben, Charly, Emma to name but a few .They are fantastic x

Overall we had a fantastic week, it rained for 2 days, this was bad luck, and certainly NOT the fault of the hotel or First Choice staff (you would think so listening to some people), would go again but maybe a bit later on in the season when the weather was more stable.

Room Tip: if you are a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room away from the railway line

The food and accomodation at this hotel were of a good standard. The food on offer provided a wide range of tasty dishes and there was no need for anyone to complain about variety or quality. If you want roast and three veg, fish, chips and burgers etcetera stay in the uk. I am, however, still on my eternal search to find an overseas holiday caterer that can offer cakes to the same tastes and flavour of northern european countries. The general appearance of the hotel was attractive. However if you chose to use the stairs other than those leading to the central lobby instead of the lifts then the stairwells let the place down .They were tired and parts of the stairwells had large areas where the ceiling had fallen down through an apparent lack of maintenance. The only complaint of real significance was the Waterpark. This dates of this holiday were specifically chosen on the dates because the website stated that the Waterpark would open on the 1st April !!!!! When we spoke to the First Choice representative it was their understanding that it would open mid April. When she was shown the web page she was surprised and told us that they were only expecting it to open mid April, in line with the brochure. The unavailability of the Waterpark was a MAJOR disappointment as the children had been promised that facility.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for reviewing our hotel.

With regards to your comments about our Beach Club, it did open on the 1st of April and as advertised on the website, the Wave Pool and slides opened mid-April.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding and we hope to see you again in the future.
