“Nice hotel, decent food”
Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

I had my fears before coming here, mainly regarding the food but I have to say it's better than I thought it would be. If anything the Mexican and Italian are disappointing but overall not bad at all. Hotel is nice with brilliant staff. After a maid accidentally threw my daughters medicine away they paid for a taxi and the replacement medicine no questions asked. The one grumble I have isn't with the hotel or staff, but the irresponsible parents who blatantly let their kids in the pool without a swim nappy. 4 times in my 2 weeks here this has happened leading to the pool being closed for 3 hours at a time. Please, if your little one isn't toilet trained, make sure they've got a swim nappy on. Other than that I'd happily recommend the hotel to other young families as i don't think you'll be disappointed.

The holiday village is great if you have kids, The food is the best we have had in an all inclusive and the kids club was fantastic for our 7 year old. We are in the process of booking again for August although it is very pricey.

Writing this review as I'm sitting in hotel, it has many good points 1. The hotel staff are great can't do enough to help you also the reps although we didn't have much to do with them. The hotel is great if you have kids under 10 it was of no use to us as our kids are 12 and 14 but that is something we will take up with Thomson on our return. Pool are great but need to get there early as many people put towels down and then disappear for hours be warned there is no one that you can talk to about this. Buses are never on time but are very cheap and very clean. Shop on site is very expensive I know we are a captive audience in hotel but we got bus to local supermarket to get bits and bobs and we still saved money even after we paid for our bus fares. How people can say the food is bad need there head looked at as I am a very fussy eater but the choice was amazing I always found something to eat, the snack bar could do with a change every now and then but that's the only fault about food. The Mexican and Italian restaurant was also very nice. My only grievance with hotel was housekeeping I thought the room cleaning if you could call it that was really bad, been here a week and only just got floors brushed had to ask for toilet rolls twice as they didn't leave any, I understand that they have a lot of rooms to clean but we paid for that service as part of our holiday also left very good tips but still nothing changed, so be warned and get wipes to wash things down.

Stayed here 13th to 20th June and had a really good time. You need to be prepared to take it for what it is, it's not ideal for a peaceful holiday however 3 kids 8,5,1 all loved it. Kids clubs were excellent, also used the crèche which my little one loved, great for him to get out of sun for a while. Poolside and evening entertainment both good, but a week of it was enough.! We didn't plan to leave the complex and we didn't, didn't feel like we needed to tho so can't comment on surrounding areas, other than quick transfer time from airport, ideal when you gave 3 tired kids.

Pros..

Good clean hotel, room spotless, massive bathroom, small kitchen if you needed it. Bedroom good size, kids sofa beds in living area + a cot was manageable with still a bit room to move around.

Kids were entertained as much as they wanted, which was a lot, good range of activities for them to take part in .. They loved it

Pool and water park , both good

Reception staff and first choice reps were helpful and polite,

Cons..

Food does get a bit repetitive, and would recommend eating earlier as quality was better, saying that food isn't bad at all we all found something we liked..

Still need to pay for somethings ... Slushies different ice creams etc... Bit annoying

Queues at bars at night sometimes a bit long

Still had to buy bottled water, 2 complementary bottles for a family of 5 ... Hmmm

All round we had a good holiday and would quite happily go back next year, a few of the first choice team definitely helped make our holiday enjoyable they were brilliant with our kids. Ideal for a family holiday where you are happy to join in with whatever's going on, if your wanting any Spanish influence tho your probably not going to find it here !

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view .. Well worth it

We stayed here for a week with our 2 small children And had a nice time- it was easy and exactly how the website described.
Bad points
-not everything was all inclusive
-menu in Italian and Mexican restaurants was not very interesting and food was a bit bland
-the Biggie-the beach club (which has most of the pools) is actually on the other side of a road which you have to go over a huge bridge to access. You can only get lunch here at 1230pm, not at the main hotel and this made it difficult with small children needing naps after lunch. The snack bar food was poor and unhealthy and unfortunately we mostly had our lunch there to save on tantrums and tiredness.
-the shop was expensive- 26 euro for 4 ice creams, a small bottle of sun cream and a water

Positives
-the pools were great, lots of sun beds and easily accessible toilets etc
-the room was great. We decided to sleep on the sofa bed in the main room and put 2 little boys slept in the main bedroom in cots. The hotel were happy to help with these, our extra room hire on the last day (we had a late flight) and excellent cleaning staff!
- I found the food to be quite varied in the main restaurant and enjoyed the selection although queuing for food gets a bit tedious
- first choice staff in crèche and little stars were lovely and made us feel very confident when we left our children with them
-the massage in the spa was amazing!
-all transfers and logistics of the holiday went smoothly

Would probably go to a holiday village again with the kids . Not something we would have done on our own as a couple but just having a relax was nice!

Me and my partner stayed here for a week. The rooms were very spacious and the biggest balcony iv ever seen! Seperate bedroom was good and the bathroom was great. 2sinks 2showers and a bath. Didnt really use the kitchen much but was nice to have a fridge and a freezer for drinks on the balcony before a evening out. We ate in the resteraunts for breakfast and lunch. Only twice for evening meal as there as so many good places to eat out in benelmadena! Breakfast was fab english bacon and sauage, lots of fresh fruit, breakfast cereal, fresh pancakes and omlets cooked to oreder. Lunch ok samey most days chips, meat, fish, one day they had fajitas which wer lovely shame they wernt there every day!

Pools wer really good although freezing but its hot out so u dont mind. Indoor pool lovely and gym modern, loved to sit in the jacuzzi after the gym. Most ppl outside with kids so gym n indoor pool always quiet. :-)

Drinks wer also good but they didnt make cocktails :-( gutted love a cocktail on holiday, but if u know what goes in ur cocktail u can ask for that and they will make it no problem.
only thing that was bad was charging for slushy drinks. This is ment to be a 4* all inclusive ud think theyd be free. Iv stayed in 3* all inclusives where there free along with the ice creme and lollies. Saying that id definetly stay here again. We had a great time.

Bus stop outside hotel only €1.55 to go I to benelmadina or terromolios really easy. M120.

Go to the old village in a taxi for around €7 for lovely resteraunts. We loved lacapulalounge and restaurante plaza. Fab tapas and good prices. Beautiful place. :-)

Don't usually complain however we did have a nice time but
1. The room was clean except for the floors and the balcony I don't think it had been cleaned for months as the little ones had thick dirt on their feet when they had been on the balcony we told the rep who couldn't apologise enough and would get it sorted however we still waited another 24 hours for the balcony to been cleaned.

2. I have never been to a hotel where the bar and restaurant staff have been so rude and abrupt, you always get one however there were many in this hotel who were damn rude.

3. Having to pay for extras after paying a lot of money to stay at this hotel, for example the trampolines and go carts outside, also we had to pay 10 euros for a kids club party and when I asked what the 10 euro was for they said a party bag however the kids did not come out with a party bag just a toy for them to paint????.

4. I never have high expectations for all inclusive food and normally its ok however I feel that there wasn't much choice at all and it was mainly English food it would have been nice to have some Spanish food on times.

we did manage to get a booking in the Italian restaurant which was ok but we all had a bit of upset tummy the next day
this hotel is definitely not a 4 star I would say more a 3 star

I will say that the crèche girls were amazing in particular Katie she made me feel very comfortable leaving my little boy there.

also the entertainment team were fab in particular Charlie she was very bubbly and friendly

the rest of the hotel was ok the shop was very expensive though !! if you get a taxi or bus Benalmadenas there are plenty of shops and supermarket there.
