“Great....if you like All Inclusive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

Just returned from Holiday Village, Costa Del Sol. Hotel was lovely and clean, check in was fantastic had our keys on arrival (was on a 6.00am flight from Gatwick). Had room 143 with sea view, our room over looked the bar but noise was not a problem as music stopped by 11.00 every night, and the bar shut at midnight. Maids tidied our room every day and made the beds, however the sheets were not changed at all in the 7 days we were there.

The food was much better than expected, breakfast was everything you could want ,but be warned, get there early unless you want to queue to get in. Lunch was basic hot dogs, burgers, chips chicken nuggets and maybe a pasta dish unless you wanted to walk over the bridge (which is nothing major and will take less than 10 minutes) to the main lunch restaurant. Dinner was nice with a different menu every night.

Drinks were all local brand, if you want anything else it is chargeable. Soft drinks are free and on tap, but only come in small plastic cups. If you want bottled water you have to buy if from the shop at almost 2 euros for a small bottle.

The First Choice reps and entertainment team are fantastic, there is always something going on, however by the 5th day I was going stir crazy being stuck in one place and needed to get out. Outside the Hotel there is absolutely nothing, not even a shop, so if you want to go shopping you will need a bus or a taxi.

This was my first All Inclusive holiday and sadly my last, but this is not due to a bad holiday its just that I prefer self catering. If you like a busy holiday with great kids clubs then this is not a bad place to be.

We travelled as a family with children aged 5 and 3. We had a fantastic time! The positives are as follows: rooms are spacious especially the balcony and bathroom; the hotel complex feels safe and afforded the kids much freedom, as it is enclosed with a guarded entrance; the large shallow pool is great for young kids; the outside entertainment area is great because it is open - we could watch the entertainment while our son played football near by and our daughter played on trampolines / cars. Staff were great, worked tirelessly and provided endless entertainment. The kids club was faultless and James was a firm favorite of our son. He worked so well with the kids, genuinely cared and constantly instigated fun!
On arrival I was a little disappointed as the hotel doesn't really have a luxurious feel, but that said, what really makes a holiday for us is when the kids are happy and entertained allowing us to relax - and they certainly were and we certainly relaxed! The food is fine - a huge choice of salad and fresh fruit and unlike many other hotels a variety of fresh bread was always available, pure juices, familiar favorites like jacket potatoes and pizza mean if you are not very adventurous or keen on the cheaper cuts of meat you can always find an alternative.
The water park has some great pools for all ages and being able to and the ease of visiting here really helped to add variety for us and excitement for the kids.
We went on a trip to Gibraltar - I'd highly recommend this - and had an evening at Trivoli World which is great for little ones.
Overall - a class holiday. As ever people complain and no it's not perfect, but if you want to have a good time - this hotel and it's staff can certainly help to do that!

Room Tip: Don't worry about the train track, it is still an impressive view of the mountains and the train...

Not the hotel you will think you paid for. The food is so bad for the entire meals. Do not have any taste, burn and no good selection
The room was very dirty during the whole stay after I spoke to the reception team I thought something will change but nothing did.
I ask to speak to the general manager but the staff told me he is very busy in meetings really all week he could not find the time to speak to his guests?
Ice cream selection and quality was none.
The hygiene in the restaurant was so bad the plats are stick together from food when I show to the staff they didn't care much.
All in all very bad experience we will never go back and the customer service of first choice do not care so we will go for holiday next year with a different company.
The only good thing is the entertainment team, swim academy and the kids club staff.
They should get 5 stars.

I have just returned from here withe my husband and my 6 yr old son and we all had a fab time. The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and the staff worked really hard to help you out and attend to your needs. We had a side view and could see some sea however we're mostly looking out onto the crazy golf area, this was not a problem to us as we don't spend much time in the room anyway, the room was spacious with v large bathroom with two sinks shower separate bath etc. The restaurants were what I would expect from all inc. always found something to eat and was good food however becomes samey after the first 5-7 days. The Mexican was good, but the Italian was not, I would have been disappointed if I had to pay to eat there. Entertainers brilliant our son was in the kids club a lot through choice and met lots of friends around the pool to play with. Me and my husband felt a little redundant at this but 3 books later happy days!!! Visited Gibraltar with first choice this was fantastic both interesting for adults and children our boys was v interested and the shopping was v cheap especially the Smirnoff vodka at £6 a litre!! Also went to benalmadena marina and ate one night at the Angus restaurant which was superb and not expensive, the marina is well worth a visit it's like a mini version of Puerto Banus. Only issue we had is the location as you are well out of the way and there is nothing really around you. Also the water park isn't really a waterpark and we only visited once in the whole of our ten day stay.

Room Tip: Block B as not near evening entertainment

Hotel lovely, room was lovely clean and spacious.evening meal started off good but got a bit repetitive..pork pork and pork.nice to have English pototoes on the menu.if you have children under 10 im sure you will love this hotel.evening entertainment was poor,i dont mind kids club or bingo but after i do expect something decent to watch especially for about of money i paid for hol!bring in some tribute bands etc
Also having to pay for kids slush is abit of a con.only reason i wouldn't go back is because of poor entertainment..not my cup of tea.the irish bar was always empty when i went in with nothing going on

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time and reviewing our hotel.

We appreciate all feedback both positive and constructive as we can use it as a tool for measuring where improvements are necessary.

With regards to the Irish Pub, we are currently trying to change its identity and use the space as a Sports Bar and as we are at the end of most sports seasons, we are limited to what we can televise there. Hopefully with the football season starting soon, we should see this pick up.

Thanks again and we hope that you consider us for your future vacations.

Warning - don't pay a lot of money for this holiday!! It's massively overpriced. It's a 3 star at best and if you pay 3 star prices then maybe ok! Everything is done on the cheap!

We have just returned from 11 nights at the holiday village travelling with family (8 in total including 4 kids aged 1, 7, 7 and 8). We have all stayed at several all inclusive resorts before (not First Choice). On arrival the hotel was very disappointing. The whole place needs an overhaul. Our room was dirty, floor gritty, curtains didn't shut properly and we're hanging off, bathroom had a sewage smell that developed overnight, noisy air conditioning, balcony dirty, stained table and had obviously not been cleaned in a while. It was very dated. In the fridge was a vile looking microwave meal, some kiwis and some Melba toast - all of which remaining in the fridge for the entire 11 days. There was also 2 bottles of water which were not replaced meaning to have drinking water in your room you have to buy it from the shop! After complaining the hotel did properly clean the room and repair curtains. The space is good in the room which makes it a shame really.

In general this is not a true all inclusive hotel:
1. Limited cocktails at the bars (only 2 available on all inclusive) even though brochure says local alcoholic drinks included,
2. Slush puppie, crisps, ice lollies at bars chargeable,
3. Rings for slides at beach club 6 euro each per day plus deposit, not funny with 3 kids!
4. Room safe 2.30 euro per day!!! We got this for free after complaining about the cleanliness of the room.
5. Trampolines 3 euro each turn.

The main restaurant felt more like school dinners than luxury dining! We managed to sit outside every night which did help. Breakfast was the best meal, nice and fresh, lots of choice. Tea and coffee was always cold though. Evening meal food quality was fine, plenty of choice and hot. Not special or fabulous but ok. Lunch at the snack bar was fine too, repetitive but ok. Drinks quality was also good. Italian restaurant was very disappointing but the tex mex was good. Service however both at the bars and reastaurants was very poor. Unfriendly staff, no conversation, no smiles (except one nice lady at the piano bar) the worst I've ever known!! By the end of last years holiday the kids were having photos with the waiters, no chance of that here!!!

Main pool was good. Pool area cleaned every morning. Sun beds were cheap, fixed so they did not adjust up or down. Main pool is surrounded by green astro turf not tiles as shown in the brochure. The other pools are across the 'coastal road' as stated in the brochure. This is actually a very busy noisy dual carriageway and it is about 10 mins walk across there. Too far to easily pop back to your room during the day. All the pools are nice though. The slides were disappointing, 2 in total both needing rings (which you have to pay for). One for children over 1.4m (lands in deep water) so that meant only one of our kids was tall enough even though he's the youngest and they can all swim equally well. The other was not exciting at all. We went to the Mijas waterpark for the day which was fantastic, but more cost!

Positives:
First choice reps were great, worked really hard, always helpful, basically doing their best with what they've got.
Entertainment was good around pool and in evenings.
Not noisy at night like some reviews state. Not silent either as it's busy but nothing unexpected at a family hotel.
Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Amazing weather!
Aerial adventure good fun.
Free Wi Fi.

I've never complained on trip advisor before but just felt compelled to warn people as it's so disappointing!!

Room Tip: Pool/sea view is nice. Busy road is not visible from 2nd floor.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time and reviewing our hotel.

As our hotel has recently celebrated its 10th birthday, you may have noticed that we have undergone some refurbishments. The pool area has been completely covered in artificial grass, the exterior has been repainted, we have begun the rooms and they will be completed this winter for next season.

We are always trying to make improvements so feedback is useful and we appreciate this.

I have just returned from the hv costa del sol with my husband and my 6 year old son and my 1 year old daughter. What a fantastic time we all had the food was great good variety the breakfast was the best meal with omelettes cooked to order. Lunch at the beach club was good too. We where spoilt for choice on the pools there where pools perfect for my 1 year old. The first choice team where really friendly and helpful if we had any problems. The entertainment team where very good and for everyone involved and kept them entertained even the children loved it the I 5 live dance at the end of every night got evey one up dancing. Th hotel and rooms where clean on arrivial and cleanliness was maintained throughout. The location lets the hotel down as it is far away from town but this did not stop me going to sewlo marina must go!This was my first hv and I would like to experience more and who knows may return here again!!
