Holiday Village
Ranked #18 of 45 Hotels in Benalmadena
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Stayed here a week from the 29th june and was very excited. Travelled with my partner and son (11 years old).
Positives; Weather was fab, quick transfer, amazing size rooms (we had a 1 bed apt for 5 with sea view) so very impressed with those, Kids facilities were fab-as standard with all the Holiday Villages and these are run day and night-son loves them! however im not one to palm him off al the time haha. Kids entertainment on an evening good if your under 9. Hotel staff, Cleaners and all other bar staff and entertainment were lovely and polite.

Negatives; apart from kids clubs, entertainment wise not a lot on for kids over the age of 9 and once entertainment on evening is finished their is not a lot to do-saying that it is the same staff that do activities all day so credit to them where it is due however maybe should have a rota for other staff to be animation team only for a family as a whole?
Food, altho it was edable and fine as were not so fussy, it was very bland, repetative and not hot, i think a decent meal should be hot. A la carte restaurants, not great. I could have made better myself.
The pictures online and in brochure are misleading as the complex itself is not as big as it is made out, the pools are very shallow which i suppose is great for those who have small children or those who can't swim (so a partial positive in that respect) the beach club can be done in a day, the rings their are 20e deposit for a single one for the day and cost 6e-i think this cost should be stated in brochures, i know it mentions supplements payable locally but for a big family that could add up and they may not have enough money if their all inc and on a budget, something to think about. Pools could do with a bit of a clean, drink selection was not great nor was the snack bar by pool, flies on food....still, we didn't take bad so it wasn't too damaging and cant be helped, people just need to be aware and cover the food back up properly after making use of something.
Overall lovely holiday and enjoyed time in benalmadena, would i go back? no. Maybe i have been spoilt by other Holiday Villages, defo the worst one i have stayed in...Would i recommend? I would mention the bad points however would advise to those with small children who may be in bed early and not bothered about certain things however as i also work in Travel i definately think it is overpriced and could get better for your money. Fortunately i got a good deal with working in travel without naming company, but it didn't justify what i paid let alone a standard paying customer.

I stayed at this holiday village 30th may 2014 - 13th June 2014. Wow they were an amazing 2 weeks! I was very apprehensive as this was my first time abroad alone with my 5 year old daughter but had no need to be. From the moment we got to Gatwick to fly out everyone was excellent. Once arrived at the hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped me to take the luggage to the apartment & provided all necessary information. The facilities are excellent & my daughter loved kids club, they staff were brilliant and it was very safe with a sign out system. This also gave me the much needed break every few days to have an hour of peace! We went on lots of excursions like the Gibraltar shopping trip and visited the monkeys which was only €10! We visited the butterfly park, crocodile park, bus tour and many more! We also went ourselves to explore nearby towns and day and evening and staff were very helpful with bus times and directions. We met lots of families here who we're lovely and even went for dinner with one which made a nice change from it being just us two! In all it was am amazing holiday and will be coming back next year :D thank you to everyone at the hotel both staff and holiday makers for such a wonderful holiday!

Stayed in this hotel at the end of July. Lovely large room which was very clean. All staff were polite & friendly. Food was very fresh & plenty to choose from. It's a 5 min walk for the lunch buffet as it's on the other site - but we enjoyed the walk. Plenty of pools to choose from. Good entertainment for the kids both during the day & in the evening. Would definitely stay again.

Just returned from Holiday Village, Costa Del Sol. Hotel was lovely and clean, check in was fantastic had our keys on arrival (was on a 6.00am flight from Gatwick). Had room 143 with sea view, our room over looked the bar but noise was not a problem as music stopped by 11.00 every night, and the bar shut at midnight. Maids tidied our room every day and made the beds, however the sheets were not changed at all in the 7 days we were there.

The food was much better than expected, breakfast was everything you could want ,but be warned, get there early unless you want to queue to get in. Lunch was basic hot dogs, burgers, chips chicken nuggets and maybe a pasta dish unless you wanted to walk over the bridge (which is nothing major and will take less than 10 minutes) to the main lunch restaurant. Dinner was nice with a different menu every night.

Drinks were all local brand, if you want anything else it is chargeable. Soft drinks are free and on tap, but only come in small plastic cups. If you want bottled water you have to buy if from the shop at almost 2 euros for a small bottle.

The First Choice reps and entertainment team are fantastic, there is always something going on, however by the 5th day I was going stir crazy being stuck in one place and needed to get out. Outside the Hotel there is absolutely nothing, not even a shop, so if you want to go shopping you will need a bus or a taxi.

This was my first All Inclusive holiday and sadly my last, but this is not due to a bad holiday its just that I prefer self catering. If you like a busy holiday with great kids clubs then this is not a bad place to be.

We travelled as a family with children aged 5 and 3. We had a fantastic time! The positives are as follows: rooms are spacious especially the balcony and bathroom; the hotel complex feels safe and afforded the kids much freedom, as it is enclosed with a guarded entrance; the large shallow pool is great for young kids; the outside entertainment area is great because it is open - we could watch the entertainment while our son played football near by and our daughter played on trampolines / cars. Staff were great, worked tirelessly and provided endless entertainment. The kids club was faultless and James was a firm favorite of our son. He worked so well with the kids, genuinely cared and constantly instigated fun!
On arrival I was a little disappointed as the hotel doesn't really have a luxurious feel, but that said, what really makes a holiday for us is when the kids are happy and entertained allowing us to relax - and they certainly were and we certainly relaxed! The food is fine - a huge choice of salad and fresh fruit and unlike many other hotels a variety of fresh bread was always available, pure juices, familiar favorites like jacket potatoes and pizza mean if you are not very adventurous or keen on the cheaper cuts of meat you can always find an alternative.
The water park has some great pools for all ages and being able to and the ease of visiting here really helped to add variety for us and excitement for the kids.
We went on a trip to Gibraltar - I'd highly recommend this - and had an evening at Trivoli World which is great for little ones.
Overall - a class holiday. As ever people complain and no it's not perfect, but if you want to have a good time - this hotel and it's staff can certainly help to do that!

Room Tip: Don't worry about the train track, it is still an impressive view of the mountains and the train...

Not the hotel you will think you paid for. The food is so bad for the entire meals. Do not have any taste, burn and no good selection
The room was very dirty during the whole stay after I spoke to the reception team I thought something will change but nothing did.
I ask to speak to the general manager but the staff told me he is very busy in meetings really all week he could not find the time to speak to his guests?
Ice cream selection and quality was none.
The hygiene in the restaurant was so bad the plats are stick together from food when I show to the staff they didn't care much.
All in all very bad experience we will never go back and the customer service of first choice do not care so we will go for holiday next year with a different company.
The only good thing is the entertainment team, swim academy and the kids club staff.
They should get 5 stars.

I have just returned from here withe my husband and my 6 yr old son and we all had a fab time. The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and the staff worked really hard to help you out and attend to your needs. We had a side view and could see some sea however we're mostly looking out onto the crazy golf area, this was not a problem to us as we don't spend much time in the room anyway, the room was spacious with v large bathroom with two sinks shower separate bath etc. The restaurants were what I would expect from all inc. always found something to eat and was good food however becomes samey after the first 5-7 days. The Mexican was good, but the Italian was not, I would have been disappointed if I had to pay to eat there. Entertainers brilliant our son was in the kids club a lot through choice and met lots of friends around the pool to play with. Me and my husband felt a little redundant at this but 3 books later happy days!!! Visited Gibraltar with first choice this was fantastic both interesting for adults and children our boys was v interested and the shopping was v cheap especially the Smirnoff vodka at £6 a litre!! Also went to benalmadena marina and ate one night at the Angus restaurant which was superb and not expensive, the marina is well worth a visit it's like a mini version of Puerto Banus. Only issue we had is the location as you are well out of the way and there is nothing really around you. Also the water park isn't really a waterpark and we only visited once in the whole of our ten day stay.

Room Tip: Block B as not near evening entertainment
