Beautiful rooms, generously sized and cleaned thoroughly each day. Hair dryer was in the bathroom which was a nuisance since the mirror was usually steamed up- so Id advise to take your own for the bedroom. Kitchenette was useful and included two bottles of water in the fridge.
Friendly and helpful staff from cleaners, reception, bar and waiters. So much choice in the buffet restaurant and all delicious. Children's buffet area had all the usual favourites too. Absolutely great. Generous helpings at the bar too. Soft drinks on tap for easy self service for the kids, or could order from the bar staff. Excellent in every aspect. We were in a large group with children of ages from 3 up to 11. All were catered for. There were so many things to do. The entertainment team and kids club staff were brilliant. I can't stress that enough. Absolutely brilliant! Entertainment and activities for all ages from 10am up until 11pm should they want it. Our kids did an hour of so each day and all was free. They did canoeing, archery, snorkelling, water- walking, games, raft building and an Adventure climbing ropes activity (like Go Ape). The little ones in the group did all sorts too eg. Pirates & princesses , bug hunts, mask making, jousting etc. For adults around the pool there were quizzes, water polo, aquafit and other things too. All good fun to watch or take part in.
Beach club across the bridge was a good day out or half day out. Wave pool, pirate ship, water slide, paddling pool, water jets etc. all inclusive drinks more limited over there though.
Fab holiday. Have been twice now. Would go again. Great holiday.

Felt I needed to just add a quick review having seen how many people are slating holiday village costa del sol. We went as a family of four with two young children . Our kids absolutely loved all aspects of the holiday the beach club splash park with pirate ship was fab the lunch in beach club was amazing fresh fish lots of salads ,chicken dishes ,paella. Our children always found something they liked to eat. ( big variety) the waiting staff on both sides main hotel and beach club are lovely always friendly even though hard working. Yes there were incidents of poo in pool but this is at the fault of the parents who do not put swim nappies on there babies which is unthinkable to me ?something maybe the reps could bring up in welcome meeting ?even though parents shouldn't have to be instructed to do this . My chidren preferred the days to the nights as they love being in the water ( splash park ) but they really enjoyed going on bungee jump / trampolines and doing club dances etc. on the night time. one thing I would like to pass on to entertainment team is maybe they could bring forward the club dances for around 9 ? Before main act so all the children still lively enough to want to dance etc as most nights took place around 10.30 or 11pm .The pantomime for children was great and my daughter enjoyed the club rep talent contest. I think some bigger better professional acts need to be booked though one Tina turner impersonater was terrible way to loud scared all the kids off I think. Sorry I haven't came on here to moan. We really enjoyed our holiday we went on several excursions which there are many off in benelmedina by the way and were fantastic ! Money well spent. I think these days people don't want to pay for there holidays begrudge having to pay the pennies but the money is for flights for all and hotel and all food and drink which is a reasonable price to pay. If you are coming to hv costa del sol to have fun family times with your children they and you will have a fab time. Don't listen to the moaners !!!

Room Tip: If you have young children request a low / ground floor when booking or email hotel .

It's 'OK' would sum it up I think. Having been to other holiday villages this one is slightly disappointing.

Staff - always friendly and helpful
Hotel - ok but needs modernising
Food - pretty good for mass catering
Meal times - absolute chaos. Too many people loading up 3 x as much as they should!
Drink - soft drinks good, beer average, wine average, plenty of baileys etc..
Entertainment - my kids loved it
Hotel Pool - good, shallow areas in main pool for kids
Beach Club - good pools but I agree with other reviews about hiring rubber rings
Holiday Reps - excellent, always there and always knowledgable
Sunbeds - available unless you want parasols - if so get them reserved by 7.30
Kids club - excellent

It's a big complex so I guess there is only so much they can do - yes certain areas could be improved. If you are reading this because you are about to travel there - don't panic! You'll have a good time. After reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit apprehensive about going but I don't think there is much to worry about.

Beach is about a 10 minute walk and a trip to Benalmedena Marina is worth the taxi fare (around 15 euros each way). At the Marina there are plenty of shops and some good boat trips - We paid 20 euros (for a family of 4) for a 30 min boat trip which I though was good value. There are also 2 hour trips to see dolphins etc..

This was our 4th year in a row at the H.V. We travelled self catering but upgraded to All Inclusive on arrival. As we had been there 3 years previous , they gave us free upgrade for our daughter. (saved €350).
In general we don't have much to complain about, we know that its in the middle of nowhere and you have to get the bus to either Benalmadena or Fuengolia. This is clearly stated on the info before you book it.

Food is fine, after all it is Spain, and they do seem to cater mostly British food, didn't see any Irish dishes - bacon and cabbage..(ha ha..)

There is a trek over to the Beach club, but some days you are glad to be out of the sun for 30 mins. Great choice of food there.

Snack bar- some of the staff could do with smiling now and again,

While we were there the pool was only closed once.

Entertainment team are great, my daughter thought James was brillant, although the evening entertainment has gone down big time since we started going there. Need more outside entertainers, need a few new acts.. (maybe some Spanish dancing etc, does not always have to be English acts),

Rooms- they could really do with been upgraded, bedspread and curtain are very outdated. I see from posts from management that this will be all done during the winter.

Next years booking are only for All Inclusive as First choice are not doing self catering anymore.

I have booked for next year but it has worked our more expensive and hope this is something that can be looked into . What perks will I get now for been a returning guest.

Returned from Holiday Village Costa del Sol last week with my daughter and 2 grandsons aged 6 and 3 and we had a fantastic time. It was their first holiday abroad and they loved it. The choice of meals in the restaurants was great for both children and adults with plenty of variety for everyone's taste. Loved the variety of pools to choice from for the young children to feel safe. The beach club over the bridge was ideal as everyone has access at the same time of 10 o clock so no early morning securing of sun beds! It is a short 2 minute walk from main hotel and not a "hike" like others have stated. The toddler area is very safe for little ones who love the water jets. Drinks and ice creams are readily available on the All Inclusive. Our room was very spacious with separate kitchen with fridge, kettle, microwave etc. ideal if you need to make bottles up for babies. Table and chairs out on large balcony. Bathroom had 2 sinks, bath an desperate shower, ideal for family of four. The kids club was very cool safe and secure to offer children a haven from the mid day sun and parents a well earned rest from them lol. The first choice staff work extremely hard to keep everyone entertained and the local hotel staff all speak perfect English and are very friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for 5 star luxury then you may be a little disappointed but if you looking for a fabulouse All Inclusive family value for money holiday then this is it. We are already looking to book for next year.
