Review of Casa de la Cultura

Casa de la Cultura
Reviewed 29 October 2013

We always visit the Casa de la Cultura when there is an exhibition on. They vary between the type of art that we like, and art that challenges our perception. All of them are of interest and are well displayed and free.

The photos shown are not of the Casa de la Culture in Arroyo de la Miel as the venue is a white building of a different shape.
Get a programme for April/May and you will be pleasantly surprised by the local talent. I saw a junior production of The Pied Piper of Hamelin and the performance brought the house down, especially the energetic rats! I also saw an enjoyable production of The Mousetrap. Both were in Spanish but the plots were easy to understand.
Throughout the year there are cinema events always in v.o.
Although I was on holiday these visits made me feel part of the Spanish community.

Exhibitions, theatre, cinema, tourist information all housed within this beautiful building. Come in and enjoy the beautiful galleried entrance hall with amazing coloured glass windows which reflect the sun.

I had been to the casa cultura to make a complaint about a car hire firm, and i had been to a showing of local artists. BUT on 18th feb we went to an amateur production of sleeping beauty, the panto. We were shown into a hall to the right of the door and then into the theatre. What a surprise,a proper theatre, with sound and lighting. We were expecting folding chairs, but no, cinema type seats, very comfy. And the panto wasnt half bad either. We shall definately look out for future shows here and go again.
