fairly deserted in December, but lovely and sheltered in places where you can relax in the winter sunshine. Nice after dinner walk but steep steps in places

Located at the very end of Fuengirola beach, where it joins with Benalmadena Costa, this is a lovely beach with many chirunguitos / beach bars and restaurants but no road access unlike Fuengirola so much safer for children.
One of the largest "Gentlemans clubs" in Malaga is located on the N340 main road at carvajal with over 300 gorgeous girls working, many of whom choose to relax on the beach during the day which makes this particular beach an amazing spot to enjoy a different style of bird watching.

Nice quiet beach area at the eastern edge of Fuengirola. The Carvajal beach is ample and not too overcrowded.

We park as close to the roundabout at the end of the Fuengirola Paseo Maritimo as possible so access to the car is easy. Carvajal is a favourite for Spanish families, weekends are very busy making it difficult to find a parking space. There is a wall which is about 3 - 4' high, there are about six metal steps which take you over the wall from Fuengirola to Benalmadena. On the Benalmadena side there is a fabulous wooden chiringuito, perfect for a spot of lunch, a cool drink and some shade. There is a sign next to the roundabout stating the start / end of the Fuengirola Paseo Maritimo, at 7km this is a great run which I regularly completed in August, the Spanish appear to cope with the heat and are still running at midday, there is a lovely mix of nationalities of runners and walkers early in the morning, it's great to take in the changing landscape from one end to the other. There are two great places for coffee once the run is complete. The first, a lovely cafe next door to the Blackberry Cafe, which I do not know the name of, there is always a real mix of nationalities and lots of outdoor seating, it is certainly not a full english type establishment and serves the most fantastic strong coffee. The second is Antonio Canon on Avenida Santa Amalia, popular with the locals, full of Spanish, the coffee is as it should be, a great place to absorb the atmosphere and improve the 'holiday Spanish'.
