“Spring break”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

This was our second stay at the Doromar Apartments and found it to be clean and comfortable with the added joy of having air conditioning, which was needed a few nights as the weather was warmer than expected. Bonus. It is in a very convenient position for the beach and Ibenza Square/Bonanza Square for eateries at very reasonable prices. The pool area is clean and pleasant but you do have to pay for the sun loungers as this is under different management to the apartments. Overall even without balconies it is a very pleasant Apartment complex for the price. Would return again.

I had read the reviews on here and plumped for this place. THEN I read reviews on another site and they were less complimentary. I was worried. I needn't have been. Transfer to the airport takes about 15 minutes with light traffic. Reception is small, manned whenever we passed. Checkin friendly, a euro a day for safe and forty quid deposit on remotes. Stayed in 310, facing the sea and sun, two walls of windows providing great views. So far, so very good. Main living room-kitchenette was big enough, sofabed, table, chairs, counterspace etc. Double bedroom had large wardrobe and a double bed with bedside cabinet. Again, so far so good. Shower room, no bath, no problems. No beasties, whole place was clean, dry. Kitchen equipment was all there. All equipment worked fine. No complaints about the apartment at all. Aircon worked well. Room was quiet during the day, not much traffic below. Night was noisier, but not by much. Few bars in the area with folks milling around, nothing you wouldn't expect, given the location is pretty central with bars on the doorstep! Wee tip...if you are concerned about noise and local bars...get on google maps street view before you go. You can tour the area and draw some common sense conclusions yourself. :) So the apartment itself was basic and nice. I have paid more for less space and comfort. Area is mostly apartment and hotels. Bars restaurants and shops are close by. World-class award winning Benalmadena harbour is ten minutes walk away and is stunning, a must see. Loads of wee shops, bars, restaurants etc around the area. You can be at the bus stops on the main road in two minutes. The 120 one way ends up in Torremolinos...busier, more things to see and do than Benalmadena, nice place. The revelation for me was going the other way to Fuengirola...fab place for a day out. End up at cosmopolitan town centre with quality shopping in beautiful streets. Get off the bus and in for a coffee in cafe andalini. Tucked in the corner. Fabulous coffee. So, for me, on a budget, I can recommend the Doramar. Nice staff, nice place, clean, bright, comfortable, good location. No downsides, would stay again. and cheap. :)

Room Tip: Get a sea facing room to the right side of the apartments. Open the curtains...two walls of glass, f...

As preious person below. We booked a three night stay at the Doramar. The apartment was filthy. We had to make our own beds on arrival, the matresses were dirty, the sheets and blankets were stained, you could barely see out of the windows. We stayed one night and found somewhere else to stay. There is a 50 Euro charge for the remote controls, which dont work. And when I reported this (along with broken toilet) it was shrugged off. Needless to say we will not be going back!

Room Tip: Try another place!

We booked a three night stay at the Doramar, but wished I had read the reviews first. The apartment was filthy. There is a 50 Euro charge for the remote controls, which dont work. If you want a sunbed by the pool, there is a 2 Euro charge for those. You could go out and buy better sunbeds for 2 Euros. I would urge everyone to avoid like the plague!!!

Having read some of the reviews I was prepared for the worst. This was part of a very reasonable package deal. Yes the place is dated but it is clean. It is up a steep hill but everything is either up hill or on the beach. We had room 610 and as noted by other reviewers this is one of the best rooms. View is lovely. Handy to have a place with refrigerator, electric kettle and stove to make breakfast or lunch. The rooms are small by American standards but they were clean. We had an issue with the door on arrival and this was taken care of by the staff in a friendly and speedy manner. All of the staff were lovely. We booked two tours with the desk and Belaire was exceptionally helpful. Nadia and the staff in the bar downstairs were wonderful and welcoming. We were there 7 nights and on day 4 the towels were changed. For 5 euro we bought toilet paper, paper towels and supplies to wash up. Glamorous this is not, elegant this is not. If you are looking for a hotel experience this is not the right fit for you. We were here in the off season and it was quiet, clean, friendly and very inexpensive. Great access to all that the Costa has to offer. Used the public bus to get from Malaga airport with ease and to travel around the Costa. Tours pick up and drop off from the Hotel Tritton a 3 minute walk to the bottom of the hill. Lots of shops in the area to pick up food etc. Homey feel to the place but may be different in the peak season. We did not encounter any of the party crowd described in other reviews. One caveat TV has 4 very basic channels but with that view who wants telley.

Room Tip: As noted rooms with a 10 i.e. 610 have a nice view. Higher up even better. Funky hall lights are ope...

I've stopped here before as it's a good location and the staff are friendly - the bar underneath is handy for when you come back at night the only quibble I have is I was there for four days they never change the towels and you only get one complimentary toilet roll!! Apart from that recommended :)

In late November we stayed for the third time in the Doramar. As before , we found it to be a good choice , friendly staff and near to all the amenities. Up a slight hill ( which might be a drawback for some) free WIFI in the reception areas and downstairs pool bar , next door to two good bar /restaurants also with free wifi! The main road , about 50 yards away , had bus stops going either to Malaga or Fuengerola direction with great links to other destinations. Temperatures at that time of the year suited us - 18 to 21 degrees and we had one rain shower in 2 weeks that hardly settled the dust! Brilliant ! The Marina was stunning ( although with the recession hitting badly in Spain lots of the boats were up for sale) and was votes the most beautiful in the world a few years ago! We will certainly be back again in the Doramar - the break there shortens the winter for us and the weather was lovely!

Room Tip: The top floors are the quietest - there is entertainment in the Pool Bar every night So I wouldn...
