We stayed here for a short break at the end of October. Upon arrival, whilst searching for the booking confirmation, we were actually called to the reception desk personally by name. The staff had actually remembered us! We have stayed here a number of times now and have always found the staff to be courteous, helpful and friendly. Incidentally several of the staff have been working at the hotel since our first stay nearly 10 years ago! That speaks volumes in its self. If you treat the staff with respect and not rudeness I'm sure you will have the favour returned!
Again you cannot really blame the hotel or staff for the actions of other thoughtless guests who slam doors and let their children run up and down the corridors shouting and screaming! Although we didn't experience it this time we have in the past but refuse to let this stop our enjoyment of this lovely hotel. We have always found the food to be of good quality, hot and regularly replenished. OK the bacon does sit in oil but if it was in a dry pan it would be dry and shrivelled up then the same people would complain about that too I expect! On the whole this hotel is excellent value for money and we will certainly be returning again.
We were also unfortunate to get some insect bites but these occurred whilst sunbathing outside you could see the little creatures buzzing around and occasionally felt them bite you! Definitely not bed bugs that seem to be mentioned!!

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms seem to be quieter.

I don't believe this hotel should have four stars, but there are some fantastic things about it!
Firstly - location. This is ideally positioned for portaventura, the beach, pubs and restuarants, but is also in a quieter location i.e. not surrounded by bars/pubs etc. All are within a 5 - 10 minute walk, although the hotel does run a bus.
Secondly - value. We were less than £15 per head per night for half board. Even if I hadn't eaten any of the food it would have been good value. The food was actually pretty good, and given that most of the pubs and bars in Salou are "roast dinner" british pubs the hotel food was better than most. All of us managed to eat well in the hotel for both breakfast and dinner.
Thirdly - cleanliness. Yes, some of the decor is a little tired/dated, but I don't think I have any seen any hotel cleaned quite so often. Whatever time of day you were around, somewhere was being cleaned. Our room was spotless and all cleaned thoroughly evey date.

What made it not 4 star? - the general decor and surroundings are a little dated. The outdoor pool was nice to look at but absolutely freezing. Thought the rule around no drinks to be taken from bar to restuarant and vice versa was odd! General facilities including room are nice but basic. Staff were mixed - some were exceptionally friendly (generally those in the dining room) but a few at reception were less than friendly.

Overall - if you want a base to spend a few days at Portaventura this is an excellent choice. Given that you won't be spending much of the time in the hotel, this gives you all you need at a great price. It also means that if the kids (and you!) are tired after a day of trailing the theme park, you can get a decent meal on your return to the hotel without having to watch eastenders or coronation street at the same time.

we spent 8 days here at the end of October 13, so it was nearly ready for closing, we paid £470 for full board for 8 days for 2 adults and 2 kids.....KIKa the entertainment manager was professional fun and great with the kids, the outdoor pool is lovely but cold...brrrr the indoor pool is nice and the spa is clean and smells lovely, indoor games room great when the kids get bored, some reception staff very helpful some not so! this hotel is great value for money with the food being a bit hit and miss, sometimes lovely sometimes not..... one waitress was nice and helpful we ordered picnics for a few days out and they were nice! mini Disco was GREAT! and mini club they were always making things with the children.... the drinks were expensive but we made use of happy hour and we also went to the local shop to fill our mini fridge in the room. Great tip is ask for a room over looking the Portaventura Park as they have fireworks at night....OVERALL we had a great time and so did the kids ! and thats all that matters.... if your after a luxury 5* holiday you will not get that here.... if your after great location for the Park and train to barcelona, cheap flights to Reus and make the most of your holidays this is for you and you will have a great time, if you are whingy and look on the dark side of life then i suggest you pay 3k for holiday you will be happy with, where you will still probably moan! hope this helps some people :)

Room Tip: I was biten....check beds and sheets !!! and use repellant..... ask for a room over looking PARK you...

This was one of the best holidays i have ever had! All the staff are very friendly, theres free wifi, short distance from the beach and portaventura theme park with shuttle buses going to them aswell, fun entertainment all day woth really friendly entertainers, good variety of food including a spread of salads, most staff could spaek english and french aswell as spanish, very clean, beds were comfy and the bath was lovely, a irish style bar with a live singer in some nights, indoor and out door pools including jacuzzies i actualy cant think of any faults! Recomend this hotel especialy to those with a family, you will love it. One thing though that I didnt like was that the price of the drinks, i forgot about that, thy were quite pricey and you didnt really get much but that was my only problem. The hotels friendly atmosphere has left me wanting to go back, i seriously did not want to come home!

Recently stayed here, very clean throughout, staff helpful and friendly. Food good choice, freshly cooked and very tasty, only complaint you cannot take drinks purchased from hotel bar into dining room or bring unfinished drinks out of dining room which is a bit silly. Children's entertainment mini disco very good, shame it is not on longer than 1hour. Lovely clean pool area, although swimming hats are required for indoor pool and not outdoor pool, not sure reasons?? Pool was cold during our week long stay. Very comfortable room, very clean and nice view overlooking hotel pool. Overall A very good holiday and would return to this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel after a weeks cruise - for 4 days - it was enough. Perhaps we picked the wrong week - the hotel was full of French(very noisy) and also 3 coach loads of would be footballers from Norway and Sweden participating in competitions - the noise was horrendous from 8.30 in the evening to 1.30 in the morning we hardly had any sleep at all. We asked for a high floor, they obliged by putting us on the 5th(top floor)so it would be quieter - I wish we hadn't bothered. The hotel is very dated and needs a up dating- however it was very clean,,, towels changed every day, and although we were there only 4 days the sheets were changed on the 3rd morning. The food was not good- breakfast was ok but there was some weird and concoctions that looked disgusting - the bacon was swimming in fat - bread yoghurts and fruit were ok. Now dinner was something else- perhaps they were catering more for the French guests - but it was pretty disgusting - we ate there for 2 nights - no change - so we ate out. The hotel is in my opinion not suitable for disabled- or people with walking difficulties - its to far out - ok its near the Adventure Park , but to far to walk into town. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Stayed here for a week, 4 of us in a room, a really nice hotel in a good location only 10 min walk to theme park and beaches. Really nice staff especially entertainment team. Our room was cleaned everyday and towels changed everyday. Read some revieuws criticing the food but compared to others we have stayed in it´s very good. Big and clean pool area, there is also a indoor pool and jacuzzis.
I think this hotel is great value for money. We will return.
