“Very good holiday”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Just came home from a week in the Jamie 1 salou, after reading reviews on this site about the hotel I was really worried because this was the first time we we're taking our 3 and 1 year old children abroad, BUT after checking in with the friendly nd very helpful staff and actually seeing the hotel for myself and not listening to picky people on here my worries started to ease. The rooms could do with updating, they got no fridge and only 2 sockets which was a pain for the wife who couldn't dry her hair because of where the sockets were situated, the breakfast, lunch and diner were brilliant, the only hotel I've been to we're they have British sausages for breakfast and not those German ones, amazing lunch and diner choice, cater for everyone. Swimming pools were again really clean and good for the kids, entertainment is more for the Spanish but we are in Spain, overall brilliant holiday and worth a stay you won't be disappointed

We have just arrived back from the Hotel Jaime 1. I read through some of the posts on here and was not quite sure what to expect to be honest. On arrival we were checked in within 10 mins not bad at all i would say, the rooms are basic as others have said but thts what we expected, they were cleaned and towels changed every day. The food we found to be really good with plenty to choose from so there is something for everyone and you can eat as much as you like, it can be a bit busy at times but this didn't bother us to be honest. It is in a good location near to plenty of bars etc and near to the bus stop to go to Portaventura which takes about 10min. The wifi is not free so we used to go to other bars in the afternoon / evenings where this is free. The entertainment is more geared towards Spanish i thought, but so are the shows in Portaventura, remember this is Spain! The staff were really good and helpful we had the family from hell come into the room next to us, shouting, argueing, swearing i asked to move rooms and this was done within the hour which was good, could do with a bit of updating in places but overall for what we paid we thought it was good value, if i were to go back to Salou i would go there again.

Just returned today from this hotel. Why do people feel the need to moan about everything. Room was excellent, lovely food that catered for all every night. Pools were clean and rooms were also spotless once cleaned. This hotel should be 4* if you want an all British holiday I suggest u go Blackpool. This hotel is central to beach and mainstrip. Plz book it it's great , especially if you got kids

We have just come back from a week's stay at Jaime I, we are a family of four, the two boys are 11 & 15.

The hotel is huge but the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are cleaned every day, the pools are great and the location of the hotel is fantastic. You are just 5 mins walk from the main strip and and 15 mins walk up the road is Port Aventura theme park which is a must if you have children.
Yes dinner time is a bit hectic but the food was great there was always plenty to choose from and they really do cater for everyone. We didn't really stay in the hotel in the evenings as there are so many bars just 5 mins walk away.

All in all I think it was a great hotel and we had a great holiday. Also we booked transfers direct with www.shuttledirect.com they were the cheapest we could find and they were very good!

This was on 2nd stay in the Jamie 1, there's 3 buildings in the hotel last visit we stayed in main building which was always so busy but this yr we stayed in the 2nd building which was great so much quiter no waiting for lifts an the entrance for the dinning room on this side wasn't as busy as in main building. Like last yr we jst paid for our room an on arrival u are given a yellow wrist band to wear this I found out is entrance into dinning room for breakfast an either lunch or dinner ? I don't no if every guest gets free meals but I checked our booking an we did only pay room only, anyway we only had breakfast few mornings as we ate out for dinner in the evenings an the pool snack bar and vending machines were fine for snacks true out the day. Rooms are basic but cleaned every day no fridge kettle anything like that which is little annoying with small kids. Pools r great something for every size, sun beds can be an issue if u don't get there early, entertainment fine large area so great with small kids to relax an enjoy an evening drink, playground mini golf good to for evenings wit small kids, wifi is bit much 25e for the week an it wasn't very good, location is great close by to everything, a must for an evening meal is a trip to the Guiness tarvan lovely food great value, overall Jamie 1 is a nice family hotel if a bit dated an large but great price :)

The reception is very busy and dis-organised, every time you want something you need to queue with not much of a first come basis, basically if you speak spanish you are seen too first, and while some are friendly others just speak among each other and leave you wondering whats going on, it is also very hot while you wait. The rooms are basic, but clean, the cleaner does a good job every day. As for the safe in the room a joke, a child would pull the door off, the lock kept dropping off. a deposit is paid, ha ha. The pool side is very noisy a lot of families. so if you want quiet not here. Food always cold. The pools are much smaller than the pic. all in all not great. Moira Ireland

Just returned from a weeks stay at Jaime 1 hotel, its a huge hotel in the centre of Salou. We had 2 triple rooms for our party of six we were assigned adjacent rooms which was handy. Rooms are quite small and very basic, they were well kept though, the maid came around every day to clean and change towels.
The 2 main pools in this hotel are excellent and we never had any problem getting a sun lounger.
The entertainment was very good, mainly Spanish but we enjoyed this!
We paid for half board but ended up eating out most of the week due to the chaos at meal times, this was the biggest downfall of this hotel in my opinion, There was plenty of variety each day we ate there but the queues were terrible and often had trouble getting a table together.
The location of this hotel is excellent it is just around the corner from the strip and a short stroll to the beach.
The size of this hotel was quite off putting for me, it was just so busy all the time and could be very noisy at night time, for this reason I would not choose to stay there again.
