“Soul in salou party.”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Just back from week in the Jaimie 1. This was my second stay at this hotel and stay because it is the the HQ for the soul in salou weekender. Much the same as last year, room very clean and cleaner everyday. Was again in the Dali building which is at the back so nice and quite(apart from the noise upstairs from moving furniture!!). Great pools ,plenty sun beds. Be aware this hotel has a capacity of 1500, and don't u know it at meal times! They even gave us timed slots!! It's functional feeding of fifteen hundred. Lucky to get salt on the table let alone any condiments! Queue to get water bottle for the table. Wait for tables! Hideous! Food ok, brekkie nicest as fresh eggs, omelettes and pancakes to die for...only one per plate! Cold food, salads nice, bit same ole,Rock hard rolls, non working toasters, only coffee machine at breakfast!!? Why? So you don't stay at the table, that's why. Do not expect a relaxing table to leisurely eat your food. More canteen eat and go. Just so you know that's how it is.
Staff in the main ok, coffee is 1 euro 90 for a small cup, short and mixer and beer 8 euros so go all inc or will cost u mucho denero! Great location, great swimming pools, great for families!

Room Tip: Dali building at the back is great!

We have just come back from a week at Jaime 1. We had paid extra for a pool view and were all inclusive. On arrival they gave us a room at the back of the hotel but swapped us over in the morning when the manager had arrived. Both rooms were clean and tidy and a good size. The maid was in everyday to change the towels and clean the rooms. The food was ok and the restaurant did its best to cope when it was busy. Usual choice of food you would have expected for a Three star. As we were all inclusive you could go up to the bar that is located in the restaurant and get any drinks to have with your meal, otherwise you would have to pay. My only suggestion would be to turn the coffee machine on, so you can enjoy a drink after your dinner without having to go to the bar to get one.
The pools were both lovely. The maintenance team were always busy around the pool collecting the used cups and plates and keeping the area tidy.
We saw a few shows and they were the usual holiday entertainment you would expect... I am the music man, karaoke and a few other entertainers. There was day time entertainment for adults and kids, volleyball, water aerobics etc.
I would say it was not the grandest of hotels I have stayed in but was good value for what we paid and the service we received.

We took our holiday here 25th August - 1st September. We arrived to be greeted by a particularly grumpy receptionist, who looked like she really wanted to be somewhere else. There were four in our party, and the room was adequately fitted with four single beds. The room was very tired looking, but seemingly clean. However, all three adults were severely bitten by what looks like flea bites - so not as clean as it looked. We went full board, but only ate in the restaurant for the first two days. It was chaotic and the food was not very tasty. We were watched over by several staff at all times, who would swoop in and clear tables around us in a rushed manner - not very relaxing. We were also reprimanded by a supervisor for bringing a bottle of water to our table rather than pay the exorbitant prices they charged. I can say it was the worst hotel we have every stayed in - anywhere in the world - and the worst experience of a holiday overall due mainly to this. The only plus point was the close proximity to the beach, and easy access to some great eateries - where we would have breakfast and dinner - but we will never ever stay in a 3 star Spanish hotel again - and certainly not this one!

Just came home from a week in the Jamie 1 salou, after reading reviews on this site about the hotel I was really worried because this was the first time we we're taking our 3 and 1 year old children abroad, BUT after checking in with the friendly nd very helpful staff and actually seeing the hotel for myself and not listening to picky people on here my worries started to ease. The rooms could do with updating, they got no fridge and only 2 sockets which was a pain for the wife who couldn't dry her hair because of where the sockets were situated, the breakfast, lunch and diner were brilliant, the only hotel I've been to we're they have British sausages for breakfast and not those German ones, amazing lunch and diner choice, cater for everyone. Swimming pools were again really clean and good for the kids, entertainment is more for the Spanish but we are in Spain, overall brilliant holiday and worth a stay you won't be disappointed

We have just arrived back from the Hotel Jaime 1. I read through some of the posts on here and was not quite sure what to expect to be honest. On arrival we were checked in within 10 mins not bad at all i would say, the rooms are basic as others have said but thts what we expected, they were cleaned and towels changed every day. The food we found to be really good with plenty to choose from so there is something for everyone and you can eat as much as you like, it can be a bit busy at times but this didn't bother us to be honest. It is in a good location near to plenty of bars etc and near to the bus stop to go to Portaventura which takes about 10min. The wifi is not free so we used to go to other bars in the afternoon / evenings where this is free. The entertainment is more geared towards Spanish i thought, but so are the shows in Portaventura, remember this is Spain! The staff were really good and helpful we had the family from hell come into the room next to us, shouting, argueing, swearing i asked to move rooms and this was done within the hour which was good, could do with a bit of updating in places but overall for what we paid we thought it was good value, if i were to go back to Salou i would go there again.

Just returned today from this hotel. Why do people feel the need to moan about everything. Room was excellent, lovely food that catered for all every night. Pools were clean and rooms were also spotless once cleaned. This hotel should be 4* if you want an all British holiday I suggest u go Blackpool. This hotel is central to beach and mainstrip. Plz book it it's great , especially if you got kids

We have just come back from a week's stay at Jaime I, we are a family of four, the two boys are 11 & 15.

The hotel is huge but the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are cleaned every day, the pools are great and the location of the hotel is fantastic. You are just 5 mins walk from the main strip and and 15 mins walk up the road is Port Aventura theme park which is a must if you have children.
Yes dinner time is a bit hectic but the food was great there was always plenty to choose from and they really do cater for everyone. We didn't really stay in the hotel in the evenings as there are so many bars just 5 mins walk away.

All in all I think it was a great hotel and we had a great holiday. Also we booked transfers direct with www.shuttledirect.com they were the cheapest we could find and they were very good!
