We have just returned from a one week stay at the salauris palace half board. I really can't understand the criticisms about this hotel, because we couldn't find any!!

We arrived at 11amish. Our room wasn't ready but we were shown to where our bags could be kept until then. We walked into Salou and then came back to the bar for a drink and something to eat. The pizzas are really very good, I would definitely recommend them. There is a huge indoor and outdoor bar area. There is a computer room, which also had 2 big screens with xboxes, there was a games room and also a shop. What I really noticed was that people were constantly cleaning everywhere, which is definitely something I like to see!
We went up to the room around 1pm. Two big beds, flat screen Samsung TV on the wall. There was a big selection of channels in a variety of languages. English ones were just news channels, but we were in Spain so I didn't expect to get many! Big balcony, big bathroom. All was very very clean, and continued to stay that way. There was a hairdryer, safe, fridge, plenty of extra pillows and blankets.

Salou itself was only a 5-10 minute walk away. We walked down a couple of times. There are a lot of market type stalls selling a variety of souvenirs. We only went onto the beach once, which seemed nice enough. Port Aventura is also literally a 10 minute walk away. Great themepark, even if you're not into the rides there are loads of shows going on and generally lots to do.

The food, we thought was brilliant, so much choice. Now I will eat anything so always found plenty to eat, mussels, pork, fish etc. Lots of salad and fresh fruit to choose from to. My boyfriend is much fussier and also found more than enough, at the grill area in particular. There was also always chips so even the fussiest of eaters could live off chips and bread. Breakfast was great. I particularly recommend the omelettes, made to order. The pancakes were also great. There was the standard bacon, sausage, and more often than not green beans?

We only used the pool one day of the week, which was lovely. The reps started a game of waterpolo while we were there (which was in English, not Russian) for the older kids and adults. For the rest of the time we used the roof top terrace, which was amazing. You could always get a sunbed not matter what time of day and it was really very quiet, mainly just couples. There is also a jacuzzi and some cold showers. You can buy a 1.5l bottle of water for 1.60, and it does get very very hot up there. There is also an indoor pool, which we didn't actually use but looked very nice. There was also a gym down there, a sauna, steam room, a lot of spa treatments (massages, manicures etc) a tv room and then something to do with the kids club.

Evening entertainment was like most other spanish hotels I've been to. Again, I'm not sure about it all being in Russian, I certainly understood it and I don't speak Russian? They did a minidisco for the kids, with a mixture of English, Russian and Spanish songs and also some games. Again everything seemed to be being explained to the kids in English and Spanish and then sometimes Russian. The waiters were really efficient and you could always get a drink very quickly. The adult entertainment was a mixture, the Michael Jackson tribute act were very good but some of the others weren't to our taste.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and we shall definitely be returning next year!!

Just returned from a 2 week stay in the Salauris Palace. In a good location within walking distance to portaventura and the promenade. Great pool area and lots of sunbeds with a lovely foyer area. Rooms are very big and exceptionally clean. Food is ok, good choice of breakfast (try their waffles) however the evening meal food isn't the best. Pork every night gets boring eventually. However, I felt that the hotel is catering more to the increasing number of Russian tourists (Russian only kids club) visiting Salou. Overall I would return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try the waffles at breakfast time and the free pastries on "Catalan Night"

Good afternoon,

Thank you very much for your comment.
Every 2 weeks we change the 2 week menu and daily we have different types of meat and fish,we always try to have as much variety as posible for any country.
About the minclub there must have been a misunderstanding, because we have 2 types of miniclubs, one for the russian speaking children and one for everybody else as we have profesionals speaking at least 4 different lenguages to entertain the young ones and the adults.
We really hope to see you again in another ocasion!
Kind regards

Arrived on the 6th July for a one week stay. Writing this review whilst sitting in the bar. Overall hotel is great, staff are efficient and polite and the food is good. Only a couple of areas that could do with improving, firstly maid service, we were there for 3 days and the room was not swept also one day she did not leave us any toilet paper. I had to ask at reception. Secondly, sun beds what a joke, if you r not out at 8.30 you will not get one. Some of the ones that are taken are left vacant all day, then people return in the afternoon. Supposed to be no reserving sun beds. But all in all great hotel.

We arrived at the hotel at 12.30pm & were taken straight away to our room which was very spacious & kept spotlessly clean throughout the whole stay. We had 2 large double beds & a flat screen tv mounted on the wall although the only english channels you can get are the news channels but that didnt bother us as you dont go on holiday to watch tv.
The bathroom was large with a shower which was powerful with plenty of hotwater.
We stayed half board & the food was fantastic every day with plenty of different choices for breakfast & evening meal, lots of hot & cold food & plenty of fresh fruit.
The swimming pool area was one of the best pools we have ever been too with a lovely waterfall feature & plenty of room to swim about in.There was never a shortage of sunbeds when we were there but i could see this being a problem in the height of summer.
The staff were very helpful & all spoke good english & the Thomas Cook rep called Michael was excellent even if we did watch England loose the football together.
All in all this is a fantastic hotel & we will definately be going back for another stay as it is situated perfectly for the resort centre( 5 mins walk away) & Port Aventura theme park (10 mins walk away)

...The standard of this hotel exceeds usual 'abroad' standards (unless you stay in a 5* in some Sandals type resort obviously). The room was gorgeous - a massive bath and clean; in fact the whole hotel is clean. We also had thick double curtains that shut out all sunlight so we slept properly - we were also grateful for the air con considering it was 37degrees. Room had a fridge, hairdryer, towels and little bottles of shampoo/shower gel. Lovely pool area and the staff are friendly. The food - well first i must admit i'm a fussy one and am not a foreign-food fan YET I found something delicious every night - one night it was the best ham (roast) i've ever had and another I had the pork (which many reviewers have mentioned). My partner, whose not as fussy as me had the mussels and the make-your-own kebab (both specials) and he loved them too. The only thing I didn't fancy gambling on was the hamburger! (bit grisly and red!) and the fried breakfast wasn't the best but they also did pancakes which were lovely. They have a proper childrens food section which wold suit fussy kids and they had childrens entertainment - I think it may have been in German?! but the kids still loved it. I would DEF return and you can book this hotel with complete confidence. Oh and its about 7 minutes walk from the centre (about 10 to the seafront)- down a main road (safe area). We went to an Irish bar called Danny Boys which was friendly and had some really good singers.

Although our room was not ready when we arrived, our
luggage was taken to the luggage room and we were shown to the where we
could get changed. We thought this a lovely service and meant we were able
to go out for a walk rather than having to wait around.

We found all the staff pleasant and helpful throughout our weeks stay.

The buffet food was more than acceptable, just remember they are catering for hundreds of people of different nationalities so be prepared to try something different.

There are plenty of sunbeds to go round, however it does mean that on busy days the beds quickly take up the available space. But don't let this put you off. There is as an alternative that we used, a sun terrace and jacuzzi on the roof, so you can escape to a quite
often very peaceful location, there are drinks machines up there for water and fizzy drinks, just bear in mind there is very little shade from the sun.

We found this hotel to be in a perfect location for getting into the resort and also to Port Aventura, you can get to both by a small train that stops outside the if you don't want to walk (3 euro's per person)
