We have just returned from a one week stay at the salauris palace half board. I really can't understand the criticisms about this hotel, because we couldn't find any!!
We arrived at 11amish. Our room wasn't ready but we were shown to where our bags could be kept until then. We walked into Salou and then came back to the bar for a drink and something to eat. The pizzas are really very good, I would definitely recommend them. There is a huge indoor and outdoor bar area. There is a computer room, which also had 2 big screens with xboxes, there was a games room and also a shop. What I really noticed was that people were constantly cleaning everywhere, which is definitely something I like to see!
We went up to the room around 1pm. Two big beds, flat screen Samsung TV on the wall. There was a big selection of channels in a variety of languages. English ones were just news channels, but we were in Spain so I didn't expect to get many! Big balcony, big bathroom. All was very very clean, and continued to stay that way. There was a hairdryer, safe, fridge, plenty of extra pillows and blankets.
Salou itself was only a 5-10 minute walk away. We walked down a couple of times. There are a lot of market type stalls selling a variety of souvenirs. We only went onto the beach once, which seemed nice enough. Port Aventura is also literally a 10 minute walk away. Great themepark, even if you're not into the rides there are loads of shows going on and generally lots to do.
The food, we thought was brilliant, so much choice. Now I will eat anything so always found plenty to eat, mussels, pork, fish etc. Lots of salad and fresh fruit to choose from to. My boyfriend is much fussier and also found more than enough, at the grill area in particular. There was also always chips so even the fussiest of eaters could live off chips and bread. Breakfast was great. I particularly recommend the omelettes, made to order. The pancakes were also great. There was the standard bacon, sausage, and more often than not green beans?
We only used the pool one day of the week, which was lovely. The reps started a game of waterpolo while we were there (which was in English, not Russian) for the older kids and adults. For the rest of the time we used the roof top terrace, which was amazing. You could always get a sunbed not matter what time of day and it was really very quiet, mainly just couples. There is also a jacuzzi and some cold showers. You can buy a 1.5l bottle of water for 1.60, and it does get very very hot up there. There is also an indoor pool, which we didn't actually use but looked very nice. There was also a gym down there, a sauna, steam room, a lot of spa treatments (massages, manicures etc) a tv room and then something to do with the kids club.
Evening entertainment was like most other spanish hotels I've been to. Again, I'm not sure about it all being in Russian, I certainly understood it and I don't speak Russian? They did a minidisco for the kids, with a mixture of English, Russian and Spanish songs and also some games. Again everything seemed to be being explained to the kids in English and Spanish and then sometimes Russian. The waiters were really efficient and you could always get a drink very quickly. The adult entertainment was a mixture, the Michael Jackson tribute act were very good but some of the others weren't to our taste.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and we shall definitely be returning next year!!
