We all went as part of a family group with 2 adults and 3 children on a package holiday booked with Thomas Cook. We flew from Birmingham Airport: the plane took off early which was a bonus as we had to get up at 1 in the morning to catch it. We landed in Reus Airport to be greeted by our holiday rep who was friendly and welcoming. The coach transfer was 20 minutes but didn't feel like that long. We saw the Portaventura newest rollercoaster a few days before it opened while passing on the coach. We got to the hotel and the place was clean and welcoming: 1 one our 2 rooms was ready so we booked in and put our stuff in the room. We changed and went down to the pool. The pool was clean but at that time there was a limited amount off sunloungers available so had to wait for a while while the staff found us some.

There was a small language barrier but we managed to get over it. The restaurant had a good variety of food served in a buffet style so the children could go up and get as much as they wanted. There was a seperate buffet for the adults which was great. We went to see if our room was ready and got our keys to the second room. Both the rooms were clean and a good standard however was a bit squashed with the 3 beds in one. We had rooms next to one another and were overlooking the front of the hotel.
There was good entertainment for children and adults. The adults could do shooting while the children could go and play ball games on the court in the hotel. There was a kids disco in the evening and varying adult entertainment every evening.

There was a bar and an internet cafe which had a good connection but the wifi wasn't the same. There was a jacuzzi on the top of the building and a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a small exercise room right on the bottom floor. The hotel was very close to all the restaurants and the beach which was enjoyed by all. We ate out every lunch time and we weren't disappointed. Portaventura was a short walk.Having said all of this we would definetely go back again.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the pool are quieter as the evening entertainment around the pool can get noisier a...

My husband,16 year old daughter and me went to the Salauris Palace as a package holiday with Thomas Cook, our first of this type of holiday. Let me say that we will use no other company as our holiday was all and so much more, than we expected. Travel was hassle from Glasgow Airport to airport in Reus where our rep was waiting and it was straight on to the bus to our beautiful hotel, the Salauris Palace. May I say that no matter what your age or requirements, this hotel and the wonderful staff who are so friendly and to whom nothing is a bother will ensure your stay is a memorable one. The food was varied and plentiful and our room was spacious and spotless. The entertainment was different every night and the kids club team were great with the kids especially the young man called Fernando who was just wonderful with everyone. Michael, our rep at the hotel couldnt have been more helpful and we met many people who returned to this hotel every year! Now we are booking for next year as we wouldnt consider any other type of holiday or destination. Go ! you wont be sorry!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms get the sun in the afternoon, the rooms over the road have the bonus of a grandstand...

Have just returned from a fortnight at the Salauris Palace and enjoyed every minute of it. I went with my boyfriend and was impressed as soon as we walked in the entrance. Staff are pleasant and very helpful, hotel is spotless and rooms are beautifully decorated and modern. Food is different most evenings and there is plenty to choose from and always loads left no matter what time you go. Drinks weren't too expensive either. We always found a sun lounger around the pool even if we went out in the morning and came back to the pool later. I Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting Salou!

Room Tip: Would recommend pool view rooms

Recently visited this hotel and here are my thoughts.

The Good:-
Friendly staff
Clean
Location
Rooms
Virtua Tennis 2009
Michael(Thomas Cook Rep)

The Bad:-
Zero sunloungers, usually because people found it necessary to have 4 in the sun and 4 in the shade. Quite unbelievable.
I am no Jamie Oliver, but the food was terrible. All hail cheese and bread!
The toasters, very tedious.
The juice in the machines, avoid!
The shear volume of people at breakfast and dinner, ALOT of queue jumping. Seriously people... There is unlimited amounts of food, just wait your turn!
The weather, poor.
The entertainment was disappointing.
The Wi-Fi was abysmal, 2012... Hullo...

The Ugly:-

I witnessed a spitting fight around the pool area, between some French nationals. Yes, you read correctly.

Won't be back and would not recommend.

We arrived in salou at the start of june and stay at the salauris palace which was recommened by my parents who had stayed there previously and were also staying in the hotel next door whilst we were there. Similiar to ours. Checkin was very prompt and the room was fairly stylish and clean. Safety deposit box in the room which is free. The fridge in the room if you want to use it costs 18 a week i think. Rooms were cleaned everyday. We would go down for brekkie at around 10:15 and it finishes at 10:30.
It is a little bit quieter that time. Plus we we not getting in till between 1 and 2 most nights The food was very good a decent selection to choose from and always fresh. Never used the pool as we would go to my parents next door and have a swim in their pool and then head to the beach. The layout in their pool
seemed better than ours.i think you need to be up early to get the bed you want but that the same in all these places.
Excellent location it is away from the town centre so it nice and quiet at night but only 10 min walk from the beach. The beach is very nice. portaventura theme park is great although seems quiter after 3 o clock. The water park in portaventura is very good also. Worth a visit. Down on the promande is where we would go for a couple of drinks. A place called caffe di mare. It has music playing television screens with music vids on them and even a micheal jackson impersonater. What was good about this place was there was a friendly atmosphere there and no drunk louts just people out enjoying a few socialable beers cocktails and even ice creams. The ladies frequenting and passing by the place where very atractive might i ad. Always a bonus. Overall the weather was excellent. So in a nutshell the hotel is clean , food is good, has a friendly atmosphere and the location is excellent.
You cant go wrong.

Arrived home yesterday after spending a week at the Salauris Palace from the 8th-15th July. Upon arrival at the hotel check in was quick and straight forward.

We were given a room on the first floor which was ideal. The room was very modern and spacious with excellent facilities including a free safe. The room and bathroom were of a high level of cleanliness. However, the walls were very thin and this caused a couple of disturbed nights as it sounded as though somebody was in our room (it was the couple next door in their room).

Pool and bar area were also very clean. Drinks at the pool bar were reasonably priced and there was a wide range of options. There was never a problem getting sun loungers on a morning. Roof top terrace was excellent and we spent most of our time up here as it was peaceful and relaxing. There was no problem getting a sun lounger. Jacuzzi was clean and was a good added bonus.

Restraunt was clean. Food was average/good. There was a wide range of choices however most of it was locally sourced fish and as both of us are not big fish eaters there was not an awful lot for us to choose from. We were able to swap dinner for lunch if we were eating out on the night and we found that was handy.

Entertainment was of a very high standard for both adults and children. The adults entertainment was different every night and included a parrot show, fire jugglers, acrobatics and singers. Although we did not have children we thought that the entertainment was brilliant, the best we have ever seen. Fernando and Sara we fantastic with the children.

We would highly reccomend the trip to Barcelona. We booked this through Thomas Cook and it included a tour of the Nou Camp, guided tour of the sights in Barcelona, trip to the olympic stadium and a visit to the fountain show.

Overall the hotel was absolutley fantastic and caters for both families and couples. Would highly reccomend the hotel and would deffinatley return in the future.

Room Tip: Would advise a room without a pool view as entertainment wa on untill late some nights
