My boyfriend and I (both 20yrs old) stayed here from 8th – 15th june. Our holiday was amazing!
The hotel is really nice and clean and the food isn’t bad as there is a variety of different things.
Our room was 217, right at the end of the corridor which was nice and peacefull, it looked out onto the road and was the opposite side of the hotel bar so it was always quiet which was good and we got some of the best sleep there! Really nice, spacious, newly decorated, nice bathrooms as well with a bath and shower. We didn’t really use our balcony as there wasn’t much of a view but there’s a clothes airer which was helpful- also, bathrooms are equipped with a hair dryer.
The maids always cleaned our room around lunch. Also, breakfast is serves 7:30-10:30 I think, so we always had a lie in and went around 9:30. Dinner is 7:30- 10:30 too.
On the first night I was a little disappointed as there wasn’t much food I liked, however I am fussy anyway. All other nights I loved! There’s always pasta and meat, cheeses, salad and the counted at the back where everything is cooked fresh was my favourite. Grilled chicken, pork and steak- definitely try it out. Also, for breakfast there were cereals, fruit, cooked breakfast and again, the counter at the pack did fresh pancakes, eggs and omelettes.
The pool area is very lively and you have to be prepared to not get the best sun bed spot. We found it very annoying that every day about 20 sunbeds right next to the pool in the sun (and the rarity of umbrella’s) had towels on and the beds where folded over as somebody was ‘saving’ them, but nobody was on them. This ruined parts of the relaxation and enjoyment as we then had to sit in the shade all day, or around the kiddies pool, or under the trees, which we then became annoyed with ants and spiders riddling on us and occasional wasps hanging around- wasps weren’t too bad but im petrified of them and found I was safer away from the bushes. Because of these things we often went to the rooftop. I thought this was going to be really busy but it wasn’t. My other half preferred the action of the pool but I like the roof because there weren’t any bugs or wasps around due to there not being any bushes, you can still hear music from the pool area and watch the events over the side, and it was peaceful as its adults only. There’s a small Jacuzzi which was really nice for a cool down also. Defiantly try the pool area, but id say morning and late afternoon as between 12-3 its so noisy and busy. – in saying this, there are activities in the pool if you want to join in.
We went on the Barcelona zoo and free time, the zoo was great and the dolphin show is just beautiful! We aren’t very good at navigating however and the weather just overcame us so we didn’t enjoy the city that much. However, if you are a big shopper and can easily direct yourself then it is perfect for you!
Definitely visit port Aventura! We paid for two days passes, its approx. 45 euro for 1 day and about 11 euro’s more for two. You will not be able to do the rides and shows in one day! – we recommend getting two day passes OR paying for one day and forking it for an express pass. We waited in a cue for one of the smaller rollercoasters for 2 hours when the wait time said 30 mins. We didn’t stay all day the seconds day as it was too hot to be queuing for hours. – even with two days we didn’t get on all the rides. Its worth getting the express pass- even though its more expensive than a two day pass- you wont want to go for a second day because you have to go on to consecutive days and WILL be hot and bothered. Get the express pass for one day, and if you see a show, go to the Bang Bang West stunt show, its hilarious! And children will love the horses and woody wood pecker!
We wanted to spend a day at the beach, but its gets VERY busy, and is hard to find shade. It was disappointing as we were both fair haired and weren’t buying beach umbrellas just for the week. However, we wented to go on the beach and sunbathes etc but we had to walk around a lot of people just to be able to paddle in the sea.
The town is nice, plenty of shops along the beach front for little gifts. Also, you get people promoting bars and places to eat, but we recommend a little restaurant called ‘Jack’s Place’. It’s a jack daniels restaurant and is so nice and cosy and clean. Its not too prices and there food is delicious. So nice- that we planned to go to two different places, but scrapped that and went to jacks place for the two nights we ate out. The staff is lovey and you will be so satisfied with the food.
Overall our holiday was amazing! We wish we had gone for 10 days rather than 7 because we got the early flight, so on the first day we waited for our room to be ready for 2 hours (only downside) and then slept all day. The flight time is great we landed early both times, and the hotel is really nice, all the staff are nice, and one of them was bar staff, he always greets you and is very polite. I can’t remember his name but you will meet him and he is lovely. The entertainment varies, the fire dancers were good buy apart from that it’s mainly aimed towards families and children.
Great holiday, we will definitely be coming back in the future!
