“Better than expected!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

My boyfriend and I (both 20yrs old) stayed here from 8th – 15th june. Our holiday was amazing!

The hotel is really nice and clean and the food isn’t bad as there is a variety of different things.
Our room was 217, right at the end of the corridor which was nice and peacefull, it looked out onto the road and was the opposite side of the hotel bar so it was always quiet which was good and we got some of the best sleep there! Really nice, spacious, newly decorated, nice bathrooms as well with a bath and shower. We didn’t really use our balcony as there wasn’t much of a view but there’s a clothes airer which was helpful- also, bathrooms are equipped with a hair dryer.

The maids always cleaned our room around lunch. Also, breakfast is serves 7:30-10:30 I think, so we always had a lie in and went around 9:30. Dinner is 7:30- 10:30 too.
On the first night I was a little disappointed as there wasn’t much food I liked, however I am fussy anyway. All other nights I loved! There’s always pasta and meat, cheeses, salad and the counted at the back where everything is cooked fresh was my favourite. Grilled chicken, pork and steak- definitely try it out. Also, for breakfast there were cereals, fruit, cooked breakfast and again, the counter at the pack did fresh pancakes, eggs and omelettes.

The pool area is very lively and you have to be prepared to not get the best sun bed spot. We found it very annoying that every day about 20 sunbeds right next to the pool in the sun (and the rarity of umbrella’s) had towels on and the beds where folded over as somebody was ‘saving’ them, but nobody was on them. This ruined parts of the relaxation and enjoyment as we then had to sit in the shade all day, or around the kiddies pool, or under the trees, which we then became annoyed with ants and spiders riddling on us and occasional wasps hanging around- wasps weren’t too bad but im petrified of them and found I was safer away from the bushes. Because of these things we often went to the rooftop. I thought this was going to be really busy but it wasn’t. My other half preferred the action of the pool but I like the roof because there weren’t any bugs or wasps around due to there not being any bushes, you can still hear music from the pool area and watch the events over the side, and it was peaceful as its adults only. There’s a small Jacuzzi which was really nice for a cool down also. Defiantly try the pool area, but id say morning and late afternoon as between 12-3 its so noisy and busy. – in saying this, there are activities in the pool if you want to join in.

We went on the Barcelona zoo and free time, the zoo was great and the dolphin show is just beautiful! We aren’t very good at navigating however and the weather just overcame us so we didn’t enjoy the city that much. However, if you are a big shopper and can easily direct yourself then it is perfect for you!

Definitely visit port Aventura! We paid for two days passes, its approx. 45 euro for 1 day and about 11 euro’s more for two. You will not be able to do the rides and shows in one day! – we recommend getting two day passes OR paying for one day and forking it for an express pass. We waited in a cue for one of the smaller rollercoasters for 2 hours when the wait time said 30 mins. We didn’t stay all day the seconds day as it was too hot to be queuing for hours. – even with two days we didn’t get on all the rides. Its worth getting the express pass- even though its more expensive than a two day pass- you wont want to go for a second day because you have to go on to consecutive days and WILL be hot and bothered. Get the express pass for one day, and if you see a show, go to the Bang Bang West stunt show, its hilarious! And children will love the horses and woody wood pecker!

We wanted to spend a day at the beach, but its gets VERY busy, and is hard to find shade. It was disappointing as we were both fair haired and weren’t buying beach umbrellas just for the week. However, we wented to go on the beach and sunbathes etc but we had to walk around a lot of people just to be able to paddle in the sea.

The town is nice, plenty of shops along the beach front for little gifts. Also, you get people promoting bars and places to eat, but we recommend a little restaurant called ‘Jack’s Place’. It’s a jack daniels restaurant and is so nice and cosy and clean. Its not too prices and there food is delicious. So nice- that we planned to go to two different places, but scrapped that and went to jacks place for the two nights we ate out. The staff is lovey and you will be so satisfied with the food.

Overall our holiday was amazing! We wish we had gone for 10 days rather than 7 because we got the early flight, so on the first day we waited for our room to be ready for 2 hours (only downside) and then slept all day. The flight time is great we landed early both times, and the hotel is really nice, all the staff are nice, and one of them was bar staff, he always greets you and is very polite. I can’t remember his name but you will meet him and he is lovely. The entertainment varies, the fire dancers were good buy apart from that it’s mainly aimed towards families and children.

Great holiday, we will definitely be coming back in the future!

Room Tip: if you are a couple and want some peace and quiet, ask for a room away from the pool area, in truth...

My husband and I are currently staying here for a 10 day holiday! The hotel itself is nice and rooms are looked after well BUT the food is absolutely AWFUL! The choice is awful and everything no matter which time you arrive for your evening meal it is cold! There is no hand gel on entrance to the buffet which means that other guests are constantly touching the food and equipment! This is not monitored closely by the hotel! Unfortunately we have spent the last few nights going out to get something hot and nice to eat!
The evening entertainment is also very poor and very noisy which means it is difficult to escape it as even in your room it is so loud and disturbing!

Mostly good points but a couple of bad too. 1st the good:
Pool is excellent and so many sunbeds that you don't ever need to get up early to place your towel on one. Staff around pool are great fun and friendly with lots of entertainment like water polo etc. Towels supplied with a 10 euro refundable deposit.
Rooms are well kept and maids excellent and helpful. Free air conditioning. Shower Gel and Shampoo supplied as is hair dryer. Room safe is free too. Get a road view if you want quiet evenings. The Hotel opposite (Villa Romana) is very noisy if you are on the Pool View side as is the Hotels evening entertainment until midnight. Evening entertainment at the Hotel is just ok.
Bad points:
Food is questionable. You cannot get a decent fried breakfast. Girl that cooks the eggs, pancakes and omelettes is very unhelpful and you take what you are given then throw it away. She needs help to do all three and cannot cope on her own. Evening meal is terrible. The hot food is cold or luke warm. Only chips served with no other type of potatoes. Very little veg. Lots of sickness still at the hotel with several guest unable to eat anything for 3 or 4 days. We were very careful after reading earlier reviews and only ate the veal or beef cooked meats with chips every night. You can queue for fresh cooked meats but this involves another wait and queuing and no guarantee that it is cooked thoroughly. All the burgers were raw inside was a common complaint.
There is a fridge in the room but cost 3 euros a day just to use it pus a 5 euros deposit. This is penny pinching.
Overall the hotel is good though but a good 15 minute walk to the beach where cost of a sunbed and umbrella is extortionately high. I would recommend this hotel but sort out the restaurant please.

Room Tip: Get a road side view as high as you can on 3,4 or 5 as the pool view is very noisy

Just got back from staying at this hotel .The hotel itself is in a good position just 10minutes from the beach and the center of town .The room itself was clean as was the hotel generally. Most of the staff were pleasant and could speak English they also worked very hard to keep the quests happy .The entertainment at night was poor the acts we saw weren't very good which didn't bother me an d the wife as we went into town most nights. Now to my major gripe which is the resteraunt and the quality of the food.Breakfast was OK if you didn't go to early but the evening meals were poor.It reminded me of my school canteen where everybody was trying to get at the food the same time causing queas which meant when you got back to your table the food was cold. Also you have to remember that this hotel is popular with families with young children who seem to run riots at meal times. Also the lack of dress code at the evening meal has to be addressed with a lot of people wearing vests and shorts which they were wearing at breakfast time. Finally Salou itself is a nice place to visit with plenty to do at night and in the daytime.

Room Tip: Try and get a quiet room

We stayed at this hotel for a week in June 2014 as a party of six and omg the hotel itself is fantastic, pool is lovely and very clean ( cleaned every day) ample amounts of sunloungers so no need for the early getups to get one, although they didn't unlock the poolside door till 08:15. They have a sun terrace on level 6 which is very quite and as no bar, this as a small jacuzzi. The entertainment team was good spoke different languages and activities allday. Can't say much about evening entertainment as we only stayed to watch it one night. Rooms cleaned everyday and are modern and spacious. Friendly staff who are willing to help. The location is good too, your out of the noisy parts but it only a 10-15 Mon walk away from shops, bars, eateries and from the beach. The food is the only thing I wouldn't give 5 stars on as there wasn't much of a variety, don't get me wrong it was edible and we didn't go hungry but it could of been better. Would defo recommend a night to house of illusion's this was well worth the money for and fun for all the family. Transfer time from airport was about 20 mins. I would defo come back to salou and to this hotel again.I wouldn't leave getting anything from reus airport though, very small only 1 small duty free shop and a little cafe bit where u can get food and drinks from.

Stayed here 8-15 June with family, cannot really complain as was kept very clean rooms were nice enough and pool area and pool itself very nice although did get bit cosy with the amount of people so would not like in height of season. The entertainment staff worked tirelessly and were brilliant for the kids and also the adults. Yes some of the adult entertainment was not the best but you could go out if you wished as not far from the town. Food better some nights than others would advise heading down to the chef cooking the fresh omelettes and meats (in evening) as then you knew it was hot though I will admit that I do like my food piping hot and have not stayed in many hotels with buffet style that can do this. You definitely would not starve there though. For the money you pay as a package tour really good value for money compared with many other countries although must admit was not a fan of Salou felt a bit like Blackpool in the sun but the hotel was very good and was glad we were staying a few minutes away from the town. Lovely beach though.
