We came 4 adults and a 12, 6 and 5 year old. I don't no where some people are staying with the bad reviews as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay leaving today. There were school parties but if you times it right missed them at food times and we found the food well catered to all our different tastes. The water park was fantastic and it was great to walk up and down to the theme park. We also went into salou for the day on the little train. The staff are so friendly and put a lot of hard work into the entertainment. All the kids had a great time it was clean and we will return. And just because of the post below none of us are on benefits.

I stayed in El Paso for a week in May this year. Taking in to account the expense for a family of twelve, dissapointment was an under statement. The parks were amazing and well worth the money however the hotel was appalling. Firstly we arrived to check in and waited 1 hour and 50 minutes. Avoid reception at every opportunity as the staff are extremely slow. There is a one particular staff member named 'pinghu' who I spent twenty minutes attempting to explain I had lost my handbag for him to return with a theme park map? He understood no English and was about as much help as a chocolate fireguard. The rooms were nice and the maids maintained them well throughout the week. Meal times were horrendous, mile queues behind Spanish school kids, the food was cold and if you like toast for breakfast I would recommend staying in bed. You will stand and wait at least 5 minutes per slice. On an evening there were 8 tables in the main bar area and and about 800 guests so I wouldn't count on getting a seat. The day of a thunderstorm the only bar which was open was the pool bar!!! Can anyone tell me the mentality of that! Avoid hotel el paso, the parks were amazing though and definately worth at visit. Thanks

I have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel and after reading a few reviews prior to going I had started to wonder what I should expect. Well my expectations were well exceeded. The complex is big and is kept immaculate (although I do agree with the previous reviewer that the dust on the bed heads has been there a while, although my partner soon dealt with it). The check in was extremely speedy and I did not witness any long queues, however I am sure if they have a lot of arrivals it would be slow as the receptionists do take time showing you maps of the complex and theme parks and explaining where you can eat. On the check in front, it is true that the rooms where not ready on arrival and as we arrived at 9.30am due to the extremely early flight from Birmingham we were not really expecting this, although the family before us did get access straight away so it depends on each situation. This was for us no problem and our bags were quickly stored and we were free to go. Perhaps it would be worth noting that you should have some lighter clothing and shoes ready for your arrival so you can change and enjoy the day until the rooms are ready. We were also given a pass for lunch in the theme park as our all inclusive said it did not start until 11am however we did not have any trouble with getting drinks and snacks at the pool immediately. We spent our first day in the theme park which was Sunday and it was extremely busy however we chose to just soak up the atmosphere and enjoy lunch until we got our bearings. On return to the hotel we found our rooms ready and on speaking with the porter he said our bags were already in our rooms which I was not expecting. We did book on arrival the Mexican restaurant and then realised that they clashed with themed nights in the main restaurant, however this was not really a problem but if you do want to take advantage of all the different food options through the week check which nights are themed nights and book the Mexican restaurant around these.
They have 4 bar areas two open during the day(alcohol is served from midday to 11.30pm) and two open in the evening and I do not think we had to wait for more than a couple of minutes to get served. I can only say the quality of the drinks and food were extremely good for the whole week and if you cannot find something to eat from what they supply I would be amazed (the coffee alone is Lavazza and is produced via proper bean to cup machines, if you like decent coffee this is really fantastic and available 24 hours . It is true that they serve chips at every meal including breakfast but nobody is forcing anybody to eat these and in all honesty they really are a very popular choice and everyone is on holiday so why not have some chips for breakfast its no different to saute potatoes (just my opinion). The snacks at lunchtime around the pool which are served until early afternoon are ideal for this area and we never made it to the lunchtime restaurant buffet.I did forget to mention pool towels are not around the pool as you would expect and there is no notices telling you about them but they are available from reception and you have to pay 15 euros per towel deposit refunded at the end of your stay and you can change these as often as you like.
As in previous reviews if you are going to do the theme parks to death it is well worth buying the premium fast pass from the hotel reception as it is cheaper than the park as stated in a number of reviews and they just allow you to go straight to the front of the line and some of the rides had over 2 hour waiting times. we certainly got our monies worth.
It is also worth a visit to the water park if you like water slides but there is no all inclusive with the hotel package so therefore if you go for the day you will have to spend a few euros on a ticket to get in and eating and drinking although you can get stamped out and back in to the park if you want to go to the hotel for lunch although for us this was too much effort.
The evening entertainment is geared to children but so is the whole resort so if you are looking for a quiet hotel with adult style cabaret then I do not think this the place for you although down town Salou has everything you could wish for and is only a 15 minute walk.
To sum up we were a party of 3 adults no children and we had a truly wonderful time, I am very surprised when I read that the staff are not friendly, this we did not find, they were polite and efficient. The rooms are not in my opinion dated and the complex is very well cared for.
I rarely return to the same place twice as there are so many places to go in the world but I would consider returning to this hotel.
One final note I did speak with a lady who had four children and they had been a number of times, I said to her that I could not understand what people could moan about and she said it is great most of the time but they had been 3 years running and when the schools are on holiday its absolute bedlam so perhaps its best avoided at these times although of course not always possible if you have to go in school holidays.
On a personal note well done Hotel El Paso we had a really great time.

Still here with two days until we go home, thank god the end is in sight. Started off a good holiday however hotel only a basic 2 star and food stone cold. Stayed here 2 years ago not great then but even worse now. Not sure where the high star ratings are coming from, I think those that are the on benefits are pleased with what the social paid for. The huge problem this time is these 2 weeks have been full of school children, at least 3/4 of the hotel and I mean a few hundred. Meal times horrendous with kids pushing in the queues all the time. Thompson rep Ben was waste of space, no idea what he was doing or how to handle a complaint. Couldn't even speak Spanish and was proud of the fact. Stop hiding behind your desk and get in the restaurant to see what is going on! Told it was due to schools about to break up so be aware and avoid these two weeks in future. Staff very nice, room 1 star, food 0 stars.

I stayed at this hotel with my fiancé' from the 31st My to the 7th June. On arrival of the hotel it looked massive! We went into reception where there was a large queue to check in, we were in the queue for around half an hour which was quite annoying but when we got to the desk the member of staff spoke very good English and proceeded to tell us about all the information we needed while we were there. Unfortunately we arrived at 12ish but could not check in till 3, but they told us we could leave our suitcases in the hotel, 2 members of staff took our room number and put tags on our suitcases and then we were free! We decided to have a walk around the hotel to make ourselves known to where everything was. We sat in the Club Maya where there were sandwiches fruit and puddings on display for you to help yourself and soft drinks, we had some lunch and then decided to go to the theme park. It was a 3 minute walk to the park where we got straight in no problem and no queuing. Around 2 ish we went back to the hotel, we asked reception if our room was ready and it was! We collected our suitcases where a member of staff drove us in a little buggy straight to our block we were staying in! He then went on to take our suitcases to our room! Once settled in we went to the pool, massive pool, lots of sunbeds free and lots of friendly staff and other people staying in the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels, pool always clean and always room to sit, excellent location and finally the food was outstanding! I am a fussy eater, so I always worry about food but there was plenty of choice and never a long queue for the buffet for evening meals or breakfast! I would definitely go back to this hotel :) Don't have a bad word to say about our stay!
