“well maintained”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

The hotel is located close to the beach. The rooms are large, clean and well maintained. The staff was always there and friendly. From the promenade road regular buses headed towards Cambrils and Tarragona, the enough variety is offered here. A variety of shops, bars, etc. offer a nice atmosphere here.

A modern hotel with minimalist decor . The rooms are extremely spacious with large bathroom/ shower area . The hotel is well appointed as it is seconds from the sea front, good restaurants and the smarter shops on Carer Barcelona. Spacious balcony with good side on viewers of the Mediterranean .The staff were all helpful well presented and friendly .
Though the breakfast was the usual varied buffet, the quality of everything from the bacon and fried eggs to the various fresh fruits etc were of a high quality .

I arrived in Salou at the peak of the season without booking a hotel beforehand,a big mistake as I tried searching for a hotel room for a weeks stay online at one of the local internet cafes, very few rooms available,of those that were they had very few ameneties essential for that time of year or were hideously exspensive enormous hospital like hotels.
I chanced upon the Magnolia and expecting nothing more than dissapointment I entered the pleasant cool reception area ,it felt like a haven after trapsing round Salou ,the staff were impeccable and the price for my weeks stay was a surprisingly reasonable amount, much less than I had been quoted for far inferior hotels.

If you want a good nights sleep followed by a decent breakfast (which after all is the purpose of a hotel) this is not the place to stay.

Looks wise, this probably is the best hotel in Salou, the rooms are spacious and stylishly decorated; which is why when I stayed here in 2010 I was prepared to overlook the minor defects (also at that time the breakfast was more than adequate) However on this occasion (October 2013) I found that the hotel had gone downhill greatly. For the price of a room at this hotel you don't expect to be staying at the RITZ, however, one does expect a certain level of comfort and cleanliness, I am afraid that this hotel (on this occasion) fails badly on both these counts. I am baffled that some reviewers have rated this hotel as excellent, I can only conclude that they don't get out much. I could honestly, in all good conscience, not recommend this hotel to anyone, the walls seemed to be paper-thin and were totally inadequate at eliminating all sorts of noises from the room next door (including snoring) When I discussed this with management, they acknowledged that this was a known problem with the hotel. The rooms, although stylish, are somewhat grubby and the bedlinen is in dire need of being replaced, the cleaning staff are very friendly but they are obviously over-stretched. The breakfast was poor, and although the staff were attentive, I can honestly say this was the worst breakfast experience I have ever had, even the McDonald's round the corner was a better option.

On a positive note, I can't say that our trip was ruined by our unsatisfactory stay at the Hotel Magnolia; the weather was perfect and Salou was a very pleasant surprise, there are some lovely long quiet walks in the area, the beach was clean, quiet and well maintained. The people in Salou are very friendly and accommodating, there are a number of good restaurants (that don't have karaoke) and Farggi's ice cream shop is worth a trip in itself....

Your unwillingness to address problems when they arise.

Room Tip: Don't.

Unfortunately our good stay was spoiled on departure by the credit card payment being collected in my home currency rather than local and therefore a punitive exchange rate. The machine was whipped out of my hand before I had the chance to select the correct option myself (or already having been pre-selected). Dear Manager (as apparently this is your policy) please note this is very annoying and probably a breach of your card merchant terms. The client must be given the currency payment choice themselves. The rest of this review is positive.

Had a short out of season break here in November. Nice quiet hotel with good size rooms (superior). The shower is particularly impressive, although if you are concerned about water conservation you will be shocked!

Of particular note was the breakfast - a very good spread indeed, and impeccably presented. It certainly kept us fully fuelled to lunch!

Salou is a typical Costa resort, although with a more Spanish feel than some. The promenade walk is fantastic, extending uninterrupted well over 6 miles down past Cambrils. Out of season Cambrils was more alive and has some good restaurants, and an interesting fishing harbour.

Room Tip: Select the superior rooms, these have the largest shower I have ever seen!

Dear UKMuddyBiker
Thank you for having your time to post your opinion about our service.
Regarding your complaint, I have just spoken with reception staff to prevent this happening again, and to remember them, that they should always ask the client before to accept the currency for the payment (which is the usual procedure).
Thank you once again for your comments and for your kind attention.

will recomend, very good, Lovely rooms, very modern - great powerful shower, fridge in the room. The room is big, with balcony on a side, view to the sea. Air conditioning but only one hour in the evening.
