“what a let down”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

room was good, bathroom was out of this world, food was horrible, we only ate breakfast for two days had been booked for 10, couldn't get our money back, we found the staff not friendly or helpfull untill we complained, then whenever we walked by reception always got a hello and any questions we asked of where somewhere was always willing to show us on the map.
glad we left when we did as a very large noisey hen party arrived. i wouldn't go back there again

Room Tip: if you want the sun on your balcony in the daytime you need to book southside

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, that we'll learn from and we'll use to improve. We work hard to deliver a good guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. We hope you give us a chance to earn back your trust, and we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of.

It is one of the best hotels I ever stayed!
Location of the hotel is just perfect - second line from the sea.
Can't not to mention relaxing smell of flowers in the hotel and rooms!
Spacious and very clean rooms. Bathroom is something that is worth to book this hotel for - huge shower room!
Bed is just amazing big. You have a choice of 5 different types of pillows.
We stayed 8 nights and had just amazing experience with the hotel.
Members of staff always helpful.
Breakfast was good but there is place for improvement for variety of hot food.
There is a nicest waitress name Marusya is working and all our special requests for breakfasts (like pancakes, omelets etc) was no problem!
10 euro parking is a bit expensive but there was always free space outside of the hotel and at the time parking was free all time.
Swimming pool area just all you need when sea is cold and it is windy on the beach.
Sauna, jacuzzi and steam room is a nice addition to relax time. There is also smallish gym available.
Table tennis, table football and billiard available in playroom downstairs.
Supermarket is just across the road for those who want to buy something.
Girlfriend and I travelled with her parents and on behalf of us I would like to THANK YOU Magnolia hotel staff for amazing experience we had with you!
Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relax place in Salou!
We will stay in Magnolia on our next trip to Salou.
Thanks!

Room Tip: Ask for room 508 or 608 for the wider view on the sea!

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here recently (May 2014) and had a great time! As soon as you jump on the transfer and other people are being dropped off to their hotels you can see the quality of hotels in Salou, most of which seem to look a bit grubby. As soon as you pull up next to The Magnolia you can see it looks far more modern and well kept than its competitors. The hotel is in a great location for most peoples needs, supermarket across the road, beach 2mins away, endless pubs and bars and small shops. Also as a general location, not too far from Barcelona. (We would recommend one of the guided tours available). The hotel itself is clean, modern and friendly. Maid service every day in our room with fresh towels etc. The facilities were fantastic, nice size outdoor pool, indoor games room for those rainy days or lazy evenings and a small spa / gym which when we visited was empty! We opted for the bed and breakfast option and weren't disappointed. It was the same each morning but there was enough choice to not get bored over the week that we stayed. Finally, the staff were very friendly and spoke good English which helped us only being able to speak very basic Spanish. Definitely the place to stay for an adult couple wanting a nice quiet holiday with many options of entertainment and adventure nearby. If we ever vista Salou again, we'll be staying here.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Salou ( 17th May - 24th May ) where we stayed at the Magnolia Hotel and could not fault it. The hotel is exactly as advertised in the pictures and descriptions and we were lucky enough to have a room with not only a view of the pool but also the sea. The staff were friendly and although we only chose to bed and breakfast the buffet provided was of a very good standard.
The spa in the hotel is something that isn't very well advertised but is defiantly worth a visit and is good value for money, the gym and the jacuzzi is free to use . Overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday and would defiantly use this hotel again for our next visit to Salou.

We stayed here from 12th-16th April. The hotel is well positioned a block or so back from the beach and about a 10 minute walk to where the main cluster of bars and restaurants are in front of the sea. The Magnolia really is a smart hotel, with a modern, contemporary feel, and a friendly, helpful reception team. The good thing about Salou in general is that within about 30 minutes of your plane landing at Reus, you can literally be checking in at your hotel. It’s so convenient, and the chances are, your flight will pretty much be the only one in and out. I can’t remember the taxi fare to the hotel, think it was about 27 euros.

We had two rooms on a high floor; we travelled with our ‘kids’ – both adults now – and they had a room next to us. Our room was at the end of the building so the balcony was huge as it wrapped around the side, perfect for the extra couple of sun loungers which were there. We could see the beach from one side of the balcony and over to PortAventura from the other. The wifi worked in the rooms and throughout the rest of the hotel and garden.

The bedroom was a decent size with lots of wardrobe space and a comfortable sofa. The bathroom was huge and light, with a massive double area walk in shower, which was so big it felt almost like a separate wet room. There was a heat lamp just outside the shower entrance. The front of the large wardrobe slid across creating some privacy for the bathroom. And the safe? Yes, that was big too. There were a couple of things lacking from the rooms: a mirror at the dressing table and tea/ coffee making facilities, so bring a travel kettle if you want a hot drink in your room. A bonus was the mini fridge, which had some complimentary water in it, when we arrived – a welcome touch.

Breakfast had all the usual stuff you would expect from a decent hotel in the Med, but special mention for the scrambled egg, not dry and tasteless but absolutely properly done. Compliments to the chef. We checked out the dinner menu, and it looked pretty good, although we prefer to eat out in the evening.

The bar situation was a little strange. There was only a pool bar but this wasn’t opening until June, so if you wanted a drink you had to ask at reception, and one would be rustled up in the area between reception and the dining room. I only knew this because I saw someone hand some glasses and an empty bottle of Estrella back over the counter. There was a fairly formal seating area by the dining room, which seemed more suitable for their business guests rather than holiday makers. There was a games room, which looked to have a high quality pool table and other games tables, however before we had a chance to check it out properly, it was closed off for a business function or seminar. A shame really. The pool area definitely did not have enough sunbeds, I counted 16, but there was some funky seating on the astro turf garden to make the numbers up a bit.

We wanted tickets for PortAventura and we got them from the hotel reception. A two day pass from the Magnolia was the same price as anywhere else. Taxis to and from the theme park were about nine euros. We did a similar long weekend a couple of years ago, principally to visit the park. It really is a good park and the addition of the highest drop rollercoaster in Europe – Shambhala – takes it up another notch. If you like thrill rides, PortAventura is a must do.

The beach at Salou is lovely. We spent a couple of afternoons on it, and even in mid April it was hot. The restaurants along the sea front are all quite similar, the food is decent and quite well-priced. Go to this area for the best sunset views across the bay, simply stunning. Away from here, our favourite restaurant is the El Torro steakhouse, having been there before, it didn’t disappoint this time either. You’ll find it facing the beach not far from the hotel. Awesome ribs, a rack and half = one portion. Fine by me.

Finally, just be aware of the SalouFest tour if you are visiting the resort in April. Hhhhmmm, the initiation ceremonies on the beach were quite interesting…

We would definitely stay here again.
