We stayed here on 11th May for 10 nights - 3 adults and 2 children aged 1 and 3. All staff were terrific. Ana in restaurant was always smiling and helpful as were the reception and bar staff. Hotel was spotless and in an excellent and convenient location. Food was delicious, with plenty of choice, and no queues, hurrah! Jonny of the entertainment staff was always full of energy and enthusiasm.

We were in a 2 bedroom suite which was ideal for us in terms of the space available. 2 x bedrooms both with twin beds, plus a double bed in the "lounge" which also had a separate sofa/living area and small kitchen area. Also a big balcony that stretched along the 3 rooms and loads of storage space. It was beautifully decorated and really felt like a home from home. TVs in all 3 rooms and disney channel for the kids. We did have a lot of bother trying to book this room via Thomsons as nobody in their branches or pre travel phone team could identify it from their own system, but when I contacted the hotel reception direct they explained the rooms available and I eventually got them to book the "sleeps 4-6" room type which is the 2 bedroom suite. So if anyone else is having similar problems I hope this helps you: the hotel advised that they have the following room types; 1 bed apartments (which you get if you book self catering), 1 and 2 bed suites and double duplex rooms which are at the top of the building. The 2 bed suites are all road facing. The noise did not bother us at all, and was really only at the weekends late at night for some reason. For us, well worth the trade off for the extra room/ privacy.

We will definitely stay here again when we return to Salou. Oh and the Port Aventura theme park was great. As others have said, there are strict height restrictions on the rides which meant there were a lot of things our kids couldnt go on. However entry for them was free due to their age, and actually there was still plenty that they could get on. In the end, we were annoyed we had not booked the 2 day pass as we didnt get round everything in 1 day even though it was really quiet the day we went. My wee boy was on the mini roller coaster 5 times and the mini log flume 4 times, we couldn't get him off it.

If you book this hotel I am sure you will be pleased.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom suites are worth the extra money if you have a large family. The living area contains...

We stayed here from the 18th to 25th May and have nothing but praise for the whole holiday. Service from each and every member of staff was unremarkable, on previous holidays there has always been one staff member that has spoilt things by having a rude manner etc but not here, everyone was smiling and helpful. We upgraded from half board to all inclusive when we arrived and this cost us 399 euro for a family of four (2ad 2ch) whch we felt was great value for money and cheaper than upgrading in the UK with Thomson. The room was spacious, spotless and had a microwave, fridge and kettle which we didnt expect due to booking half board. Food was really good, i am a really fussy eater when we are abroad but i found something to eat everyday and couldnt complain, champagne on ice at breakfast, marvellous deserts and a continental breakfast from 06.45 on our day of departure, which we were really happy with as previous hotels haven't provided this so well done Avenida! Must also mention the restaurant manager Ana who was lovely and fantastic with every child that walked into that restaurant The reps worked very hard day and night to keep all guests happy, kids activity programme was excellent. We will certainly return to this hotel in the future. Also a mention the the lady on recpetion called Sarah, couldn't do enough for guests, a lovely lady. Highly recommended by a very satisfied family!

Room Tip: we stayed on the second floor with a pool view, corner room with large balcony. perfect.

Have recently booked our summer holiday for this year, we are returning again to Golden Avenida Suites Hotel in Salou, having had such a wonderful holiday at this lovely hotel September'12 last year, we decided to book again and take our 5 year old grandson back there, who thoroughly enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer, especially the Thomson Reps who were brilliant with him and kept him entertained from day one. Last year we went only for 7 days at half board, this year we are going all inclusive and for 11 days. The holiday was booked mainly with our grandson in mind, he is quite energetic and needs to be kept entertained at all times, but we thoroughly enjoyed it too, with great food, great staff, great entertainment for children, so looking forward to this year also.

Room Tip: Try to book a room overlooking the swimming pools although this is not guaranteed

We stayed at the golden avenida for a week 11-18th of may. Myself, my husband n our 3 year old son.
From the minute we arrived to when we left the staff couldnt have been more helpful.
On the first night we were in a room overlooking the pool which we had requested but it was above the main bar so was very loud until late. In the morning i asked if we could move rooms which the staff happily did within 10mins without any fuss to room 325 a 3rd floor roadside room.
I was a little worried as had read previous reviews saying roadside rooms were noisy. I am an extremely light sleeper and didnt find this room noisy at all.
The rooms were spacious and spottlessly clean as well as being nicely decorated.
We went half board and thought that the food and amount of choice was fantastic. Im vegetarian and never had trouble finding something to eat.
Ana the restaurant manager made everyone feel welcome.
The hotel has great facilities and my son loved the 2 playgrounds and that there was a football pitch and mini golf.
What really made our holiday was the thomson reps and their entertainment. They worked so hard doing long hours and were still really enthusiastic. T time live was the highlight of my little ones day. Emma, shanice and johnny were great and they always had me n my hubby laughing.
Didnt use the kids club as we wanted to spend time with my son being it was a family holiday but im sure they were fab too.
Now knowing what this hotel is like we would have happily paid double what we did!

All in all an amazing holiday, will definitely return.

Myself, husband and 2 children (4 year old and 10 month old) have just returned from 2 weeks at the Golden Avenida Suites.

The room was lovely, we requested a pool side room and got just that, we were on level 3 which was perfect. The room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed (fridge, microwave, plenty of glasses and plates), we didn't realise the room would be as big as it was, the children had the bedroom which contained 2 single beds and a cot that we had requested. The lounge area had a sofa bed (which was extremely uncomfortable hence the 4/5 rating) and the balcony was bigger than I thought it would be. As previous people have mentioned, it would be nice to have a full length mirror or another mirror as there was only 1 in the bathroom.

We went self catering but decided to eat at the hotel restaurant on 2 occasions, both were nice but nothing amazing. There was plenty to choose from including curry, chicken, burgers, pizza, salad and seafood, the bread rolls were stale both times though. The desserts however were lovely!

The bar staff were very friendly and drinks were reasonably priced. Happy hour is 8.30pm-9.30pm and most drinks are half price. The bar itself looks more like a social club though.

Within the hotel there is free wifi in the reception area and an arcade room, also in reception is a baby and toddler room which was nice, it had a changing area, toys, books, soft play mats and a TV with english channels (Disney Junior and BBC). There are 2 secure play parks which my 4 year old loved. There was also a football pitch so my son played there for hours on end, this was also the volleyball pitch which the adults could play with the reps.

The pools were lovely but freezing, considering the weather wasn't fantastic, you expect this though. The indoor pool was good for the rainy days but it was very small so don't expect to do a lot of actual swimming in it. One of the childrens outdoor pools is up a flight of steps which was a bit strange and not very accomodating for pushchairs.

The Thomson reps were fantastic and all of them were great at their jobs. Jonny Rocks was by far the best of the reps and ensured all of the guests were having a good time. He puts on a brilliant show at T Time Live every evening, making sure all the children are up and dancing. My son thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment!

Overall we all loved our stay and can't wait to return, we are already making plans!

My wife and two young kids (22 months and 6 months old) stayed for 7 nights at the Golden Avenida in Salou from 14th May and we loved every single minute of our break. Even though the weather was distinctly average (only two days decent sunshine all week) this didn't put a dampener on our stay. The staff at the Golden Avenida ensured that we had a fantastic week. They all worked so hard, from all of the Thomson reps in the hotel ensuring all of the little ones had plenty to do all day to the staff at the hotel, ensuring the rooms were spotlessly clean, the tables in the restaurant were clean and cleared quickly and reception was manned with a smile, with nothing too much bother.

The hotel is in an ideal location - 10 minutes from the beach and markets/shops. I have seen reviews from some people saying that it was noisy in the evenings, but this wasn't an issue for us as we were on the 6th floor (roof) in an absolutely stunning room split over two floors with an absolutely massive balcony. The room was cleaned daily and was really modern and tasteful. We had a flat screen tv in both the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms with English and Spanish tv available.

With the weather not being the best for the week that we were there, we didn't make it to the pool but our eldest loved the two play areas in the hotel grounds and spent a lot of his time there.

We went all inclusive, which was superb. Drinks were served with a smile and service was extremely quick. The food was very varied and not at all repetitive and the Chicken Tikka Massala and Chicken Fajitas were awesome. I do not eat fish, but I am reliably informed by my wife that the prawns that were available one day, were superb.

The hotel is mainly geared for families with young children, which was ideal for our needs. if we go back to Salou, we would definitely return to this hotel. All in all, a brilliant holiday so thank you to everyone at the Golden Avenidas for this!!!! :o)

Room Tip: If you have young children and don't want noise, aim for a higher floor. We stayed in room 625...
