My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Jardin del Mar, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were there with 12 other members of our family, to celebrate my Mams birthday.

We arrived a few hours too early to check straight into our rooms. This wasn't a problem, as a helpful lady on reception (one was helpful, the other a bit sulky) said if we can amuse ourselves for an hour or so, she would try and get us into the rooms early, and she did. We made use of a luggage room in the mean time.

The rooms were spotlessly clean, although slightly dated. Some previous reviewers have commented on how the rooms are decorated. Yes, they are dated, but if money was spent updating them, it would be too expensive to stay there!

We had a fantastic view of the sea and Santa Ponsa bay, which was well worth paying a little extra for (collectively, we were in rooms 306, 119, 120, 220, 712 & 713).

We found all of the staff (besides Mrs Moody on reception) to be more than helpful, especially those who worked at the pool bar and the lifeguard, who were very friendly!

The only downside we found is the lack of electric kettle and toaster in the rooms. You get a steam kettle, which was fine, but an electric one and a toaster would have been appreciated, and would have been a nice touch. You can rent these, but we didn't see the point, since we were there to eat out, rather than to do it ourselves!!

I would recommend a foam mat for the sunbeds, as they aren't the most comfortable (although we managed without), and remembering to put the 'Please clean the room' sign on the door each morning.

All in all, you get what you pay for. Although for what we paid, this exceeded our expectations. Would definitely return, and probably will!

Room Tip: My parents paid extra for a Premium Room- Newly decorated, bigger balcony and beautiful view over a...

We booked this Apart-hotel through "on the beach" in January 2013 for a September break the same year. The booking was done on the strength of its location, facilities and reputation, sadly we were to be very disappointed. We had requested and paid for a sea view on an upper floor to appreciate the views over Santa Ponsa bay, what we were given was a ground floor cave that looked onto the pool and received no direct sunlight during the day, I don't think so! We went back to reception and complained to a sullen unhelpful female who said they were full and we needed to ask in the morning to be moved, I don't think so! After much deliberation she offered us a room on the second floor which had huge palm trees directly opposite our balcony that you could just make out the sea if you squinted with one eye and stood on one leg, so we settled for that over the cave as our blood pressures were high enough. Our second disappointment was the room air conditioning (or lack thereof). Air conditioning in the room was one of the main reasons for booking this Apart-hotel but after much tinkering around with the thermostat we could not get it cooler than 19c, which for us was purgatory to try and sleep in and provided us with 11 nights of poor sleep. Our third disappointment was to discover that they did not provide a kettle or toaster in the room, oh no, you had to "hire" that at extra cost, I don't think so! Rip off merchants! We have been to many Apart-hotels over the years of similar or lesser star rating and have never had to "hire" the basics of a kettle or toaster for a self catering holiday. The rooms are small and basic, the plastic chairs on the balcony were cracked and would not have supported an average holidaymaker after a large meal and the balcony table would only suit a pre school child or serve as a foot rest. We have very few if anything positive to say about this Apart-hotel. We did however, find the rooms to be clean with bedding and towels changed regularly and we can't comment about the food as we self catered and ate out everyday. I would recommend this Apart-hotel if you are happy to be talked to in a derisory manner, lied to, asked to fork out for “extras” or happy to sleep in a box room with no air conditioning. The resort of Santa Ponsa is what it is, find other accommodation to enjoy it.

We just came back from a 2 weeks stay and the hotel looks good but is better in pics and the room we were given was falling to pieces and was very disappointing. TLC is forgotten in this hotel. Also everything costs extra at this hotel.
We thought that many had exaggerated when saying negative comments but after a 2 weeks stay I must say that they are true.
Santa Ponsa is a fab resort and very clean with bars and restaurants for all ages. Daniel's Corner is a great bar and has a very good atmosphere. We are going to look to stay at Santa Ponsa, but at a different hotel, next summer.

We stayed for our anniversary in sept , pleasantly suprised with the hotel but the town it is stuck in a sadly mild magaluf type resort , it is our first experience of an "apart hotel" style accommodation, and based on this we would use one again,

The hotel is clean , the rooms are adequate and generally clean and comfortable , the room had a cooker and fridge/freezer and supplied plates and pans cups and glasses and cutlery / utensils,

The restaurant is clean and well services and stocked for a self service buffet although the choice was limited , especially on the fresh fruit in 5 days we only saw melon and grapefruit , this is the only let down we encountered with the food and the restaurant, decent choice of hot / cold buffet style food with rice and vegetable choices and selections of processed meat and cheese, desert choices were limited to generic cake and ice cream with 1/2 variable dishes ,

The gym and sauna were not available when we went , the gym is limited to a static cycle / weightless weight bench ,

Check in and out was easy and hassle free ,

Location is near lots of restaurants (and poor quality tat shops) selling "ray benni" sunglasses and various tourist aimed straw donkeys and crap of the like ! Walk to the beach takes 4/5 mins and is not strenuous , close to jetty for boat trips , the best part of the hotel is the balcony with a fab view (spoiled by groups of semi drunk youths) in the pool below , acting like a sun trap from 11am till 6 pm with furniture supplied to enjoy a sangria and a sunset , I would use this hotel again if it was in a different resort, I was dissapointed at the "ex pat" quality of santa ponsa and this will probably stop me from returning to the resort , it's just full of migrant British cafés and bars making a living of fried breakfasts and English type lager, I'm no snob but santa ponsa is basically magaluf for the less promiscuous , to summarise , hotel 7/10 and resort 4/10

We had a one bed-roomed apartment on the 5th floor which was okay. Trouble with the cooker was resolved reasonably quickly when we complained. The kitchen could do with an electric kettle (they had to be hired at reception) as the kettle on the hob took ages to boil. Sheets and towels were changed regularly. The reception and public areas look very tired and could do with a makeover. The reception staff were unsmiling and not overly helpful, except for one young man. Security was poor. One evening we sat in a nearby restaurant and watched the staff (?) coming and going through the staff entrance which had a keypad entry system but the door was just left open.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms on a high floor seem best.

This hotel is in a good location for sure-- very near the Square and far enough away from the night clubs.
Don't believe the location on its site. Yes it is near the SEA but I thought it was near the beach. Steps off the poolside take you to a little beach but no sand !!!just pebbles and rocks.
The pool area is nice but the beds are very very uncomfortable. Tied down so you could not lift them up to read.!!! Also most people bought lie-lows to put on beds so as to lie with any comfort. Pity !!!
Pool bar had very nice snacks and very friendly staff.
Staff very friendly. Hard to believe we has to hire a kettle though !!! TV with English channels. Apartments small and basic but clean.
We didn't eat in Hotel but there are plenty of very good restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms on 5 or 6th floor overlooking the pool . Do not take room with side view of sea. Not what we...

Not a bit pleased, we got a studio when we had paid for a one bed room apartment. I went down to get it sorted and we then got a one bed room apartment in a worse position. Our view was of a large wall and a scruffy yard with an alley way running alongside it. The staff will describe this as a street view. We had to put up with the constant noise of the main air conditioning machines. The guy on reception I can only say was very, very economical with the truth. Others would most likely describe him as a liar. To say there were no pool view rooms available was most doubtful, when you see how many they have. It boils down to this, if you are not willing to pay 4 or 5 star prices you will get a crap room. If you consider that this hotel barely makes it past 2 star standards I think you get a bad deal for your money. I do not recommend this hotel and I gave the reception the chance to act on my concerns and told them I would write this review, but they were happy to continue to put a dampener on our holiday. AVOID THIS PLACE. BTW two young girls were screaming blue murder at the reception as we were leaving. The gist was, "False representation, looking at a bloody big blank wall, we want to speak to the manager, we are being treated like sh#t " etc!

Room Tip: Rooms in another hotel are much better
