“BEWARE OF THEVIES!”
Reviewed 3 May 2014 via mobile

After arriving at the hotel at 11am the receptionist informed us that out room wasn't ready but we were a ale to get changed in the toilet and leave our luggage in the locked room next to the reception which was fine. Upon returning from the beach at 5pm our room was ready (524) we were given our keys and directed to out room. Once on the room I unpacked my suitcase to get a change of clothes to go out a run while my partner decide she would unpack later.
We both left at the same time 5:15pm, through the reception (3 or 4 staff there at this point) and I went out a run will my partner went to the Supermarket to pick up essentials. Once she arrived back ten mind later she could not find her iphone which she left on the table. Once I arrived back I tried calling but no answer. There was no signs of a forced entry. We both went to reception to explain someone had been in our room and the iphone was missing!? The gentleman could not of cared less, wrote down our room number and name on a bit of paper and handed us the phone to call the police!?? Am sure the would understand/care what I would be telling them! I decided to leave it and try not let it bother us as phones can be replaced and we weren't getting anywhere with the unhelpful staff.
We went up to get ready to go out for dinner when I went to put my Omega watch on......... and guess what!? Gone!
Luckily we have friends over in santa ponsa (Spanish) that took us to the police station for crime report! 4 hours later sitting in the police station we got our crime report!
From reading other reviews on here it appears we are not the only ones of the unforced entry!
I highly recommend that you spend a little extra and stay away from this horrible little budget hotel unless you want your goods stolen!
Thank you staff of Jardin Del Mar, enjoy my Omega watch and iphone!

This is the best value holiday that we have had in years. The hotel is a bit dated but very clean. The location is great. Will be back for an off season trip. This is the kind of hotel that you could visit a couple of times a year for off season deals

Room Tip: Higher floors are best

We stayed here from 21 till 29th April over Easter
Stayed in room 325 side sea view nice room ,very clean, small kitchen which had a fridge,2 ring hob, kettle, pans kitted out for 4 people
Last 2 nights we upgraded at a cost of 15 euros per night to 610. This had a full sea view but the room was not in as good a condition...more popular, used more etc
Pools very clean .Deck good supply of fixed loungers and chairs. Nice gardens. Good facilities for children
If you want to eat out try meal of the day at Pacos next to English pub and Pepperpot...9.99 for a good 3 course meal
If you need a toaster/electric kettle these can be hired from reception at a cost of 10 euros per week or bring or buy
We plan to return with family to the 2 bed room

Room Tip: Floors 5,6 &7 have best views but each room has different views best at far end of building If...

I stayed 19-26 April. I wanted a week lying by the pool reading my book. Room 410 had palm tree in front of balcony but could still see the sea. Room furnishing a bit tired but perfectly usable. Decent sized bathroom and mirrored wardrobes in bedroom. Flat screen TV with some British channels. I used the whistling kettle in the kitchen every day. I was half board and really enjoyed the food. I like the European style of eating. The sun beds are uncomfortable but I just used 2 towels to lie on. The outdoor pool is fab with great sea views. You can walk to the main beach from the pool following the coast line which is not far at all. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend a short holiday ,off season, bargain break at this hotel.

Booked Jardin del Mar for a very last minute holiday in Easter. Booked it for the location - just out of the main town of Santa Ponsa - which was nice. Just short 10 minute walk into town. We did not expect much from the hotel in terms of food quality and room comfort etc, but were pleasantly surprised about the comfort and space in the room. Basic double rooms include a living and kitchenette room, as well as utility cupboard and bathroom, bedroom and balcony. We were, however, quite disappointed with the "side sea-view" room. Do not expect much from this. The main view is actually of a hedged wall, and if you turn to the right, you can catch a glimpse of the sea! Also the walls are extremely thin, so expect to hear everything your neighbours are saying, even in whispers. The food was fine with the standard salad, vegetarian, meat and fish options every night. Breakfast was average with basic cooked and continental options, but for us, it did the trick. The pool area is clean and there is plenty space for sun loungers (which are NOT comfortable). There is also a small play park area, volleyball court and table tennis. The views over the sea from the pool are stunning and there is a quaint pebble stone beach a stones throw from the pool. Reception staff were very helpful, although one lady more so than others! Overall, I would recommend for couples/families who are looking for a cheap, last minute get away.

Room Tip: For a really stunning view, get a front sea view room and ask for one on the upper floor level (abov...

Self catering consisted of a 2 ring hob, no toaster, no grill, no microwave with stick every time pots. Could cost you an extra 100 euros to rent a toaster and electric kettle, what a con.. Also the way apartments situated increases volume of noise from kids screaming in pool and even people talking in seatin area below...take your ear plugs!!!

Room Tip: Be careful of translation of sea view, several versions

On arrival the hotel seemed nice. We'd booked a sea view room through Alpharooms. On arrival to the room we discovered it was a side sea view and to be fair you could barely see the sea (just the road really!) ! We went to reception to explain and were told that we had booked a side sea view and that the papers we had were incorrect! We explained we had paid for a sea view and presented our booking info. The receptionist then said that we had to ring the agent and get them to resend a fax. To cut a long story short the receptionist ended up telling us we were wrong or lying about the booking! So so rude and were speaking to other guests whilst in the middle of the conversation with us! The hotel was far from full and the receptionist told us there were 20 free sea view rooms but we couldn't have one!

The following day alpharooms managed to communicate with the hotel and explain and finally we got our upgrade! The staff around the hotel were ok but certainly not overly polite, just ok.

Rooms are very basic and dated but clean enough ( stained sheets on beds though) Quite large rooms. Beds are hard - v hard. No air con (we didn't need it but I bet it's boiling in the summer) I couldn't imagine being self catering though - the kitchen was beyond basic. Our hob didn't work nor did the kettle (in fairness we didn't report this as we didn't need to use them and couldn't be bothered to broach the rude reception staff again!)

Sun loungers are dreadful - hard plastic and not adjustable. Ideal if you want to lie flat on a hard surface! Most have a crack or two at the least.

Food is ok. Limited choice - two cereals for breakfast, one or two fruits, no pastries, toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, bread, cold meats. Evenings there was soup (some v unusual ones!) then salad, 2 meat dishes, a fish dish and some veg. Three choices of Ice creams for dessert which was good for the kids plus other desserts.

Snack bar - fairly sure it was frozen stuff not fresh. Pizza certainly was and I think burgers were too. Not too expensive though and edible.

Drinks - E2 for water, E2.20 cola, fanta etc, E3.10 a pint.

Location - quite good. Near shops and a ten min walk from Santa ponsa beach and centre.

Wifi was expensive - E6 per day.

View of the sea view rooms was gorgeous. But good look getting a sea view room whether you've paid for one or not!!!!

Entertainment - there was none. Perhaps the season? (April)

We got a cheap price and, except the very rude and unhelpful reception staff, it was OK but only OK. I wouldn't recommend.
