“NICE HOTEL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

we stayed for 5 days in april and enjoyed the hotel. we booked a side sea view room and when we went in it overlooked a car par. the nice gentleman on reception said we could pay more for afull sea view - which we refused - so he moved us to side sea view room nearer the sea. the maid service was very good and the dining room was lovely with very nice food. the pool area was loveley and overlooked the sea - it was like being on a cruise ship and the pool snack bar did great pizzas. there was also an indoor pool and entertainment one night

Room Tip: fuul seaview rooms are best but cost more

This was my first trip to Mallorca and was booked for me by from Sky-tours Dublin for 14 nights from 23 April to 8 may 2014 to Santa Ponsa, Fiona (Sky-tours) said considering my age (70) that she would recommend the Jardin Del Mar. Our flight from Dublin was approx 2 hrs 40 min we traveled Ryan-air, Our journey to the Jardin Del Mar was with Resorthoppa our driver was a wonderful rep for Resorthoppa, he helped us with our luggage and directed us to reception (check in). It was now around midnight we left our home in Dublin around 2pm and just wanted to get some sleep. A young gentleman receptionist named Francisco welcomed us to the hotel was helpful in every aspect and completed our check-in with speed and efficiency. We were given a side sea view room, upon entering we were pleased with the room, it consisted of a small kitchen area well equipped (only drawback no electric kettle) we had a separate bedroom with good sized wardrobes and bedside lockers, the dining area had table four chairs and a comfortable couch, there is a 32 inch wall mounted LCD TV with had over 40 channels 5 English ( itv 2,3 , 4 BBC one and two. The bathroom was good sized and had a bath with shower, the shower was powerful and there was always hot water, we got to bed at 1am had a wonderful sleep the beds were very comfortable.
Next morning I called to reception to hire a safe for the two week stay as while I’m away I like to put my car and home keys plus passports away so I don’t have any worries while on holidays
the daytime receptionist was a young lady named Esther , She new we were new Guests and she welcomed us to the Hotel, she suggested places to go and how to get there we found her to be very kind and polite. We dined out most nights, Francisco suggested we give the hotel restaurant a try, we we so glad that we did, the restaurant was large and lots of room between tables and spotless, it was self service, all you can eat for €11 and I did tuck in many times. Really enjoyed our stay in the Jardin Del Mar and most confidently stay there again.

The superior room was quiet small to what we expected although the balcony was massive with fantastic views. Night porter was quite ignorant he was telling us to be quiet everytime we came home and us not even making any noise. The cleaners are really noisy banging and shouting up and down the stairs to each other 1st thing in the morning. The pool was fantastic and so was the location.

We booked this hotel through travel republic 4 nights away for £150, I was worried about some of the reviews but the price too good. When we got there the location was excellent, on a lovely cove and excellent sea views. We had booked a side sea view when we go to our room I couldn't hide my disappointment, the balcony was overlooking a car park and you have to have the ability of stretch Armstrong to bend your neck in a unnatural position to see the sea. I went to see the receptionist who upgraded us to room 712 which we were told the best room in the hotel, it cost us 80 euros. It was worth the upgrade, the view was wonderful, the balcony was massive with your own sunned, table and chairs. The rooms are dated and are in need of some upgrading. Silly little things like the sliding bathroom door had no handle on the inside, it's ok for adults but a child would struggle opening the door from the inside. Furniture chipped and generally tired looking. The beds are far to hard for my personal preference but my friend slept soundly and like the mattresses so it definitely down to personal taste. Breakfast was awful, the selection was very poor. I'm not sure what they cooked things in but the fried eggs and sausages smelt funny but again there were plenty of people tucking in but it wasn't for my taste. I would go to the tuck inn around the corner which have excellent breakfasts and wonderful staff. The pool area is lovely and clean, we went in May and there wasn't many sunbeds I can see there being a struggle getting a bed in the height of the summer season.

Location is wonderful, it was very clean. Points to note its worth getting a sea view room if you can get room 712 you won't be disappointed. If you have booked B& B try it once, if you haven't don't bother it's 14 euros and it's pretty dull. Annoying littles things like paying extra for everything like a toaster, hair dryers, gym. Basically you can get a much nicer looking hotel but you will have to pay for it, for the price I can't fault this hotel. So if you want all singing all dancing hotel pay the extra money for a better hotel, if you aren't bothered about state of the art rooms this hotel will probably suit.

Room Tip: Sea view, room 712 is the best one in the hotel

We did not book this hotel but were transferred here from another place following our complaint to the tour operator. On arrival following a really stressfull 18 hours off hell at our first hotel we were greeted by the smilling face of Esther the receptionist allthough she was expecting us she still had not recieved confirmation of our new booking from tour operator so could not allocate our room she told us to leave our luggage in the locker room and go for a meal and by then she would have it all sorted, true to her word when we got back our room was ready. The rooms are spotlessly clean consisting of bedroom with large mirrored wardrobe, nice bathroom with hairdryer lounge/kitchen area with good sized flat screen tv with selection of uk tv channels we had a room on 3rd floor and our balcony looked out onto the small shingle bay and the sea beyond. We stayed half board and cannot fault any meal we had they are well presented, with a reasonable choice off hot dishes which we saw no repeat during our week there, also nice salad mixes, breakfast is allso nice with proper english sausages.Outside pool area is a really nice place and again spotlessley clean with a reasonable sized pool iff a bit cold however there is a small heated indoor pool. All the staff from reception, cleaners, bar staff, maitre d and restaurant staff were freindly and allways had a smile on their face as for Esther on reception she is this hotels jewel allways smilling allways helpfull my partner even got a big hug a cuddle from here as we left.As for those who say they have had stuff stolen the hotel provides a secure locker very cheaply to put your phone, passports, spare cash why tempt fate?

Room Tip: higher floors overlooking pool and sea to get above palm trees

After arriving at the hotel at 11am the receptionist informed us that out room wasn't ready but we were a ale to get changed in the toilet and leave our luggage in the locked room next to the reception which was fine. Upon returning from the beach at 5pm our room was ready (524) we were given our keys and directed to out room. Once on the room I unpacked my suitcase to get a change of clothes to go out a run while my partner decide she would unpack later.
We both left at the same time 5:15pm, through the reception (3 or 4 staff there at this point) and I went out a run will my partner went to the Supermarket to pick up essentials. Once she arrived back ten mind later she could not find her iphone which she left on the table. Once I arrived back I tried calling but no answer. There was no signs of a forced entry. We both went to reception to explain someone had been in our room and the iphone was missing!? The gentleman could not of cared less, wrote down our room number and name on a bit of paper and handed us the phone to call the police!?? Am sure the would understand/care what I would be telling them! I decided to leave it and try not let it bother us as phones can be replaced and we weren't getting anywhere with the unhelpful staff.
We went up to get ready to go out for dinner when I went to put my Omega watch on......... and guess what!? Gone!
Luckily we have friends over in santa ponsa (Spanish) that took us to the police station for crime report! 4 hours later sitting in the police station we got our crime report!
From reading other reviews on here it appears we are not the only ones of the unforced entry!
I highly recommend that you spend a little extra and stay away from this horrible little budget hotel unless you want your goods stolen!
Thank you staff of Jardin Del Mar, enjoy my Omega watch and iphone!
