just come back from 7 nights stay at bahia del sol. we were first booked into trh torrenova in palma nova sorry did i say magaluf but thankfully were told overbooked in magaluf so were given choice of santa ponsa hotel bahia del sol.had reservations as german owned but found staff and food great location even better an hotel worthy of 4 star. hotel spotless but always ask for front view overlooking pool area fantastic if you dont ask you will get put in back of hotel as germans get priority i guess. found a mixture of all nationalities as well as english. night life only a stones throw away as great beach' mostly arish and english nightlife but well enough away from hotel so you can enjoy a peaceful stay and relax.evening entertainment ok what you would expect from spanish hotels.pool area safe for kids as lifeguard there.would go back next year and would recommend to couples or families.sorry to go back to the hotel trh toorrenova in magaluf but stay well away and enjoy this great hotel in santa ponsa worth paying that little extra for fantastic

Room Tip: ask for pool view at front

Thank you very much for your nice comments and your time on sharing. Please do not say that Germans have priority, it is more a matter of: “first comes/reserves, first serves!
Looking forward to welcoming you back next year.

Just arrived back from another week at the Bahia Del Sol Hotel having stayed there on four previous occasions over an eight year period.
We found the standard at the hotel as good, if not better in most areas. The food we found to be of a higher standard, particularly the evening buffet menu which had an excellent variety of fish & meats together with a fantastic salad bar and desert selection not to mention cheeses etc.
The staff have always been very helpful and on this occasion nothing has changed except for a few new faces around the hotel but in the main staff have been at the hotel for many years and are all experienced. The restaurant staff & particularly Toni are very pleasant, efficient and helpful.
There are many nationalities staying there with a large German contingent which was not a problem at all, in fact we made friends with a young German couple and their young son.
The pool area has a strict policy of not reserving sunbeds with towels which has been common practice in the past. The rooms are large with a balcony most have sea views where it is nice to sit and watch the sun go down. One other bonus is a fridge in the room where you can put a few drinks etc. The only slight negative comment is the rooms are getting ready for a bit of an upgrade in some areas but in the main furnishings are still of a high standard.
We booked the hotel through Travel Republic at a very good rate and overall we found this hotel to be excellent value for money.

we have just come back from the Bahia and where disappointed with a few things . We are not ones to be picky but the first roomthey gave us looked on to a wall with nosy fans, the second we had trouble opening the door and only had warm water. They changed the taps on shower and only got teptid water for 1 day then cold again The 3rd room had nice view plus at last hot water but we had to flush the toilet a few times during the night due to awful smell ! We told the hotel we where there for our 40th weding anniversary but we got the feeling being English in a more dominate German presence it ment nothing to them .The food was ok we never went hungry , The entertaiment was very dated. the hotel is in a good area .

We thank you for taking your time in scoring our hotel in TripAdvisor.
We regret that your stay with us was not as you expected. By the time of your visit we indeed had trouble with a water pipe in your room, which struggled a bit with the technician and after verifying where exactly the problem was this was indeed solved, we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
Additionally to your comment “being English in a more dominate German presence it meant nothing to them”, just wanted to state that in our hotel, as per our Spanish hospitality, any nationality is always welcome, that we have a majority of German guests is due that the hotel belongs to a small German family owned chain.
Hoping to be able to welcome you back in any of our hotels in Germany or Spain, we remain.

My husband and I have just returned from this hotel....we loved it and would definately go again, we've stayed at various places in Santa Ponsa before but this has been the best experience, we stayed B&B and cannot fault the breakfast. We're from Scotland and I think we were the only brits in the hotel, this was not a problem, in fact it enhanced our stay, the other guests were just very nice polite and there was no rowdyness or drunken trouble! The staff were lovely especially Jean the entertainments guy ...very friendly and seamed great with any kids sataying at the hotel. Our room was spot on with a view of the town and beach, very clean, the bedding was changed whenever we wanted as was the towels and the room was cleaned and beds made up every day the maid 'Mary' was very nice and thoughtful. Overall absolutely no complaints...if you like, relaxation and a peaceful holiday then this is the one for you.

The Bahia Del Sol in Santa Ponsa is classified a 4 star hotel which is operated by a German brand called Seetel Hotels. The positive points to this hotel are;
Good location in close proximity to beach and surrounding bars/restaurants (which you'll need!), staff are friendly and attentive, small car park available to rear of hotel (5 min walk), Indoor Pool for early/late season visits and a good standard Gym.
The Negative points to this hotel are; Food is very average in quality and choice (mainly focussed on German tourists), Rooms are a bit tired and cleanliness of rooms is poor (glass shards found under our bed along with a collection of dust), Outdoor Pool is quite small with closely packed sun loungers, Entertainment programme in the evening is very 70's and needs updating in both variety and quality of acts performing to guests, wireless is available for free but only in the reception area.

The hotel is very close to a couple of nice restaurants; No 8 Bar & Grill (Gourmet Burgers) & Krishna's Indian Restaurant. Both were very busy when we visited Santa Ponsa. There are also a couple of Chinese Restaurants and not forgetting Bobbys Bar/bistro across the road from Bahia Del Sol where you can get a full english breakfast for E4.95. Most pubs offered a large draft lager for about 2E-3E, and San Miguel was available for about 2E in a few bars. I'd recommend the Jaggy Thistle Pub just a few minutes walk down the hill from the hotel for an evening of entertainment. Lesley and Alison are really friendly and welcoming, so make a visit here...

We had a couple of meals out in the evening with a bottle of wine and the cost was about 30E between us. The Beach and promenade of Santa Ponsa are also nice for a walk around and you will also see the Green parrots that fly around the area, nesting in the trees above the promenade area. The resort is a throw back to the 1970's with hotels resembling high concrete tower blocks built up around the hills of the resort. The beach had poor levels of cleanliness and we saw several items of sanitary ware present on the beach, interesting as the information board described the beach as excellent quality standards...!
The standard fast-food chains Burger King and McDonalds are present within the resort.
We booked a car through economy car hire which we picked up from the car park at Palma Airport. Our car provider was actually Auriga Crown which is one of the on-site providers at Palma Airport. They charge everyone hiring a car a full tank of petrol/diesel at an increased cost than you would pay at a petrol station in Majorca (We paid 70E).
I think this is standard practice for many car hire companies, as they appear to make a lot of money from this process, particularly if you are not going to cover the entire island and be in a position to return the car empty. Make a visit to Port Andraxt which has nice restaurants on the waterside. If you want to see really expensive super yachts/boats and very posh restaurants try the marina at Portals Nous, which is a short hop to the west of Palma. Having tried to drive into Palma on several occasions, I would suggest either getting a bus or taxi into Palma, when you don't have to worry about the traffic and lack of poorly signed parking areas in the capital.

All in all, would I stay at the Hotel Bahia Del Sol again...probably not. The staff were the one thing which made things a little more bearable. Not really a 4 star hotel in my mind, although without experiencing others in this resort, it's difficult to compare standards and facilities. The food was a real let down and not something that we looked forward to having paid for H/B.

First of all we´d like to thank you for taking your time to post your opinion regarding your staying at our Hotel Bahia del Sol. Unfortunately we didn´t fully accomplish your expectations in regard to our food offer. We have to agree that certainly we had many german guests at the time and the menu might have been more likely to this nationalities taste.
With this, in addition we´d like to mention that our buffet menus change weekly in order to have daily variety of quality dishes and every fourteen days, after our forecast, new menus are served in our large buffet, where with its at least twelve salads and starters and same amount of main dishes should be always a combination that should satisfy anyone’s tastes. Although thanks to your review we will study new menus that satisfy other nationalities as well and will do our best to improve this important point.
We kindly like to thank your advice and would be happy to be able to welcoming you again at our hotel in order to show you our improvements. Again thank you for choosing our hotel for your visit to Santa Ponsa.
With our best regards from Santa Ponsa,

Hotel is situated just outside ( 100m) of de noisy side. So quiet rooms and nice bars, restaurants on very short walking distance.
Beach at less then 200 m , But an iinsider-tip wen you walk to the opposite site (coming out the hotel and going left) you will find after 350 m a very nice small beach, only few know about it. Just on sunday you will find the Mallorquins overthere.
Great Food, with on saturday a Mallorquin Gala diner with live music and ofcourse Sangria.

Arrived here on a Friday late at night, very tired and found the hotel very clean and thoughtful as they had left some food for us. Next day we spent the whole day by the pool and had a few nice cocktails and in the afternoon asked the reception for a good restaurant as we fancied eating outside and the receptionist gave us a large list of great restaurants in the resort and he was right on the money. Great service, great hotel and a super fantastic resort. The next two days of our stay we had all our meals at the hotel and it was perfect.
