“Brilliant Hotel will definitely be returning”
Reviewed 7 October 2010

We stayed here in September 2010 and were pleasantly surpised at the hotel. although its only a 2 star it was worthy of 3. The Hotel was kept beautifully clean and in the week we stayed the food was great nothing was repeated apart from the soup. The entertainment was cheesy but watchable.
The only thing that let this hotel down was the pool area was pretty much in the shade all day if you are a sun worshipper you have to move round the garden to follow the sun. If the trees were chopped down about 20 foot the pool area would be lovely. The all inclusive was great value especially as we got a last minute bargain. will definitely be returning here.

love the resort of santa ponsa 1st time at this hotel was pleasently surprised with the cleanliness room cleaned every day and fresh towels. showers are tiny that is the only fault i found. around the pool area is huge.
food was faultless and we had to go over to the pionero for our meals on the last day and the food was identical to what we had all week and the pionero is 3*plus.
downside is u can use the facilities ie pool area, entertainment etc at the pionero and santa ponsa park but u cant use the bar which is a bit of a pain.
bar understaffed at night but maybe they have more than one in high season??
very cheery staff :) :) :)
would definately go back to this hotel abs loved it!!!

We have just returned from an All Inclusive 10 day trip to Santa Ponsa and we stayed at the Globales Playa Santa Ponsa.

Firstly, if I was asked the question, would I return to Hotel Playa Santa Ponsa ... then the answer would be yes, would I go back to the resort of Santa Ponsa ... most definitely YES!

We had a great time. But that could also be due to the company we kept and the things we did.

We booked this trip very very last minute, we needed to be near Magaluf (to meet up with relatives & friends who came out a week after us for a surprise birthday) but we didn’t want to stay in Magaluf or Palma Nova, so Santa Ponsa was the perfect base!

Being our second holiday of the year, the deal we got for Playa Santa Ponsa was reasonable, so we booked it.

The Hotel is lovely and definitely not only two stars ... the only thing that lets it down, in my opinion is the pool area, there is a rather large tree blocking the sun, and you have to play musical sunbeds all day to keep in the sun! The area where the sunbeds are is a grassed area ... not the best!

The beach is a 2 minute walk away though ... if you can’t be bothered moving from one sunbed to another!

The hotel was however closing the day after we left for some revamping and maintenance work, and we were told by other guests that the pool area was top of the list for a re-vamp! It definitely needs it, chop down the tree and tarmac the area ... Bingo!

Globales has two other hotels in the street, both carrying a 3 star classification, one directly opposite (Plaza Santa Ponsa) and another (Pionero) which is just slightly further up.

Guests from all 3 hotels can use the facilities of the other sister hotels in the street. Not the All Inclusive wristbands but the pool areas and the entertainment etc. if you like that sort of thing!

The pool areas in the sister hotels are far superior to the Playa and I would recommend using them, although I would maybe feel differently once the revamp has been completed.

The restaurant in Playa was closed the day we were leaving and therefore we had the option to eat at the Pinero, the food was exactly the same! No difference at all! The hotel was slightly more opulent, but the food, drinks, absolutely no difference.

The rooms ... well ... I can’t complain, they were actually very nice! With the best shower I’ve ever been in abroad! And I’ve been all over the world! The shower screens had magnetic strips so they clipped into one another when you closed them ... no water all over the floor for me! Perfect. They were a tad on the small side, but I’m only small so not a problem for me.

The maids came in every single day and made your beds, emptied bins and replaced the towels, couldn’t ask for any more.

The only downside was that our room was directly above Reception! And was very noisy! Kegs of beer etc being delivered almost every day at about 9 in the morning, when you’re not getting in until 4 or 5 ... that’s an early morning alarm call ... and the maids ... who had a habit of yapping outside your door – even when you have the Do Not Disturb / Sleeping sign displayed! Not much sleep was had! So if possible avoid rooms that end in 28 / 29 / 30 / 31 / 32 / 33 ... as these are all above the reception area!

The resort of Santa Ponsa itself was great ... I’d been many years ago, but had forgotten how good it is. Lots of Irish Bars ... and my particular favourite ... Sean’s Place, where there is live music each night , the two guys play a varied selection of music, and get involved with the crowd ... the atmosphere is always good, and we had a great laugh in there every night of our holiday.

The beach in Santa Ponsa is lovely too ... watch out for the Parrots ...

Would definitely recommend the resort of Santa Ponsa, the Hotel Globales Playa Santa Ponsa, and of course all the Irish Bars.

Was this really a two star hotel? Certainly didn't feel like it.

Have just returned from a fantastic week shared with friends in what was definitely in my opinion not a 2 star hotel. Most everything about it was really very good. I wonder after having read some reviews again if I was in fact staying at the same place!!!!

A couple of small (well to me) changes would be to lop off the tree tops to allow the sun into the garden before midday for everyone to enjoy, got fed up moving the sunbeds round the garden just as you were starting to tan....but eventually found a permanent spot and relocated - and the showers in the rooms were a tad small especially if you didn't want to create a "wet room" by leaving the doors open, otherwise everything else was fine.

Lots of food on offer at all meal times, if you can't find something you like to eat then you must be under nourished and lacking already, as all meals were well cooked and well stocked, lots of staff on hand ensuring tables laid up and kept clean for the constant stream of guests. The rooms were tidied everyday, fresh towels etc. Always saw cleaning staff milling about, and the pool area constantly being tidied up. Mind you a little self help goes a long way too and would it have been too hard for some people to pick up their own litter etc and deposit in the various bins dotted around!!

The bar - well there is another thing, lots of different alcohol on offer at this AI. I heard tell that other hotels there wasn't half the choice - however a smile wouldn't have gone amiss from the ever present Pepe, maybe it is the long hours he does, who knows, but the two young barmen on our last day were really making everyone smile with their constant banter, even if half the time you didn't quite understand them....oh and perhaps a few more staff at night would be helpful as the queus did seem to get a little too long at times. Entertainment is well, lets say typical of holiday resorts the world over, but you are there to enjoy yourselves regardless. Don't tell me you pay for a cheap deal holiday and then expect "Broadway/West End" type entertainment - it aint gonna happen love!!

We had a room that overlooked the street but the patio doors kept all the noise out. Air con in the rooms, a little noisy but did the job very well. Close enough to walk to the strip where all the livelier entertainment was but far enough away that it did not keep you awake. Not being a beach person did not venture that way but once again close enough if you prefer.

All in all, enjoyed this hotel very much, I dont often return to the same place, like to try new places but would def stay here again - if they get rid of the trees, or allow us to put the sundbeds in the tennis courts area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, - lol - but honestly would recommend you give it a go.

Stayed here for a week all inclusive in august 2010. I must say for £391 the food and drink we consumed was fantastic. We could not believe the vast selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner - fantastic. I do miss this food and always will.
The all inclusive bar was good but ALWAYS had long queues which was a pain, but selection of drinks was good. Pool(s) were not too busy but were very noisy and too many cheesy 'join in' activities going on so the beach only 5 mins walk away was better for a bit of peace.
Entertainment was not the best and was a tad cheesy but if you like that then it will suit. They cater very well for kids, also cater well in rooms for kids aswell as in restaurant. The rooms were very clean and tidy with air con and fans, no complaints there. The whole hotel was always clean and cleaners could be seen every hour of everyday!
Most of the staff were friendly but a few of the bar staff were miserable as sin and un-approachable but in some ways can sympathise with them seeing as hotel was hussle bussle all the time and they worked long hours! Restaurant and reception staff were also not the best but I and most people can live with this I guess as they are providing a service afterall, just without the smile!!
On the whole It's in a good location, clean, food 100%, drinks excellent and room excellent as it was a big hotel with plenty of sun loungers.
8 out of 10! Fab.

Well we didn't sleep much that all i can say.. which is quite bad ,Had we have had kids with us id have been raising hell with the conseearge .. the food was terrible the smell was unreal ,And having had a quick lookaround the food selection i could see that most brits "more the kids" would struggle with it.
The rooms are basic but clean as is the hotel ,Around the pool is to small and the club/bar is far to small for the amount of people staying ,And from what we saw of the kids entertainment it was basic and German .. bear that in mind if you have kids..
the problem with sleeping comes from the tiled corridors that amplified foot steps and door banging to the max. Santa ponsa is lovely but hated the hotel couldn't wait to leave..

I have just stayed at Globales playa santa ponsa 2 star with my boyfriend and another young couple we know for ten days. The hotel is situated in a brilliant place just literally 2 mins from the beach and about a ten minute walk along the beach to the strip which has plenty of bars and restaurants. The area in santa ponsa had everything you need including banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, gift shops etc. Its an ideal place for everyone. The hotel itself is very basic, its clean and tidy and some of the staff are friendly. the food is okay but i dont eat their meat because i never know what it is, so i just ate pasta, rice and chips. The bar staff can be quite offish i think because you can only have three drinks at a time. You can only also have local drinks such as Mahou which is the beer, things like vodka, gin, tia maria nothing like peach snapps etc unless you pay for it. The pool area is okay it has a grass area but not much of a sun trap unless you're in the pool. Also to be honest ive never seen the pool being cleaned it is very murky so i believe its never cleaned. The rooms are small but okay because you only sleep in them. The bathroom is tiny i mean im about 5 ft 3 and about a size 10 and i could hardly wash myself in the shower unless the doors were open and then the floor gets soaked. I think for a cheap holz its ideal its not horrible their but i paid the same amount to go here a 2 star as i did two months ago when i went to a 4 star hotel in lanzarote.
