This was our 7th visit to the RDJ and I can honestly say it was the best so far.We arrived to a great welcome from Maria(good luck with baby!)and given the room we had requested.fabulous 5th floor with outstanding views of the bay.The food had certainly improved on last year with the most amazing choice and good and hot.Juan and the restaurant staff do a brilliant job with replenishing and clearing up.To anyone who has said they are rude,lazy and unhelpful,are you sure you were staying in the same hotel?They don't speak a lot of English but just say Hola to them and they are really pleased.Curtesy goes a long way with them.They're only human!The only problem with the rooms is that they could do with bigger wardrobes.We don't need complimentary toiletries in the bathroom as I would have thought most people bring their own!!I would suggest to take your own hairdryer though,as it's tricky to keep your finger on the button while drying your hair.Bar staff were pleasant and efficient as always.They have a tough job to do but make it look easy!!!Thanks for everything,Luis,Cristobal and mi amigo, Paco.The entertainment team,Max Rosh and Tom were brilliant as always.Max always gives 200% even at the end of the season and makes sure everyone has a good time.The acts were pretty good as well.Not sure about Los Bitels though!!Michael Buble was fantastic and did half an hour past his finishing time and his guitar playing was outstanding.George Pena is a great as ever and always garantees a good laugh.You would have to be a right misery not to find something to laugh at!!!
Santa Ponsa is a lovely resort.Not that big, but that's what makes it nice.The beach is great for families and is very safe.All in all, it's a great hotel and resort, so ignore all the moaners and whingers and give it a try.It's great for disabled people as well.You can hire wheelchairs and scooters if you have to.All public areas are one floor.Bring on the 8th visit next year!!!

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front of hotel as it's very quiet.If you are disabled the ask for a room ne...

Stayed as a couple at Hotel Rey Don Jaime for a week during September and we had a FABULOUS holiday.

We arrived (bleary-eyed in the early hours!!) to a warm welcome from the reception staff, after checking in we were kindly informed that a meal awaited us in the restaurant - it was a delicious 'cold plate' with complimentary bottle of spring water and fruit for dessert - it was entirely unexpected (and didn't impede on our half-board stay as we still had a final meal on our last evening at the hotel) - a lovely touch!!

I'm listed the positives / negatives below for ease of reference ... (although hardly any 'negs' :)

POSITIVES:
* Spotlessly clean Hotel
* Friendly, helpful staff
* Great food - from lovely fresh salads and continental dishes right through to a English roasts
* Perfect location - less than a 5mt walk to the heart of the beach / promenade
* Rooms very nice (yes a little dated but not that bothered us) and fair sized balcony

NEGATIVES:
* The pool area was overcrowded and very plain – quite unwelcoming
* No comfy sofa’s in the lounge area for ‘chillax (reading) time’

The above however wouldn't prevent us from staying again as there is more than enough 'good points' about both this friendly Hotel and Resort to make anyone's holiday FAB!!

Hope helpful :)

Room Tip: Top (5th) floor/facing towards front of Hotel are the best, I emailed to request the same before arr...

Just returned and thought rooms dated and food not very well planned.Plates were very small childrens size so we had to put food on top of food and couldn't lay it out. It was difficult to make a meal up from the wide choice of food and no vegetables.

Just returned from a week at the rey don jaime (me, husband, parents and 3 year old daughter). Check in was quick and easy, rooms (386 & 387) were lovely, clean and spacious. I don't understand why people are moaning about them yeah they are a little dated but that's nothing major the main thing was it was cleaned to a high standard everyday by the maids.
The staff are very friendly especially Juan (chef) and waiters/waitresses who took a shine to our daughter. There are a few miserable looking staff (bar) we found if we attempted to speak Spanish they did give a small smile lol. Food was good lots of choice especially for our 3 year old who is a fussy eater. Loved the show cooking of an evening.
The evening entertainment was good with bingo, quizzes and live music/shows. The pool area was great and the kids pool was a good size (daughter had the pool to herself most of the week).
We loved the location as it was only a 2 minute walk to the beach so was fab for the little one. Good selection of shops near by too.
We would definitely consider staying here again as all in all this hotel exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: We had pool views 386/387 which were great in the day but as the entertainment is outdoors it was ve...

Just returned from Santa Ponsa ...Have to say most disappointed Rey Don Jaime has unfortunately left us saying we will not return .. It's not the staff !! This hotel needs updating the rooms are dismal ..and the outside pool area was unkept and unclean not once did I see anybody swilling down the pool area . The walkway from hotel to the pool was covered in chewing gum and it was just dirty ... Rooms are cleaned daily and the food lunchtime and evening was repetitive .. Breakfast not a complaint ,, have to say some of the resteraunt staff in particular one was very rude needless to say telling me I had to go into the eating area because she did not have time to clean the table pftttt ... So cleaned it myself and fetched my own cutlery ... Sorry to bring bad tidings but one thing I have to say your entertainment group are one of the nicest I have met !!! Thumbs up Max .. Rochelle..Tom ...

We were in the Don Rey Jaime from September 22nd to September 29th as part of the "Hooley in the Sun" a music event, featuring some of Ireland's top country music stars. The location is excellent , 3 minutes from the beach and shops. The food was varied and we had no problem getting something we liked each evening.
Hotel was busy but staff very friendly and best of all was the great gang from all over Ireland on the Hooley.

Stayed at this hotel for a week and had a great time. Food was great can't see what people moan about. Pool was a little small. Hotel and hotel grounds kept clean at all times. Staff very friendly. There was a Irish hooley on while we was there. Everyone was having a great time. We met some lovely people. Would like to say a big hello to Sally and Ian. And dawn and her mum they where both a scream. Nice beach not to fair away. Will book to return again.
