“Fantastic holiday!”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Just arrived back today from the Rey Don Jaime after a fantastic weeks holiday. All i can say is...WOW! The hotel is fabulous...so clean, modern and friendly. The staff were lovely. The rooms were very clean, you could always tell that they'd done a thorough job. Location was ideal...literally a 2 minute walk to the beach, bars and shops. The food was lovely..something new everyday and they did a fab job of catering for little ones. The pool area is great...plenty of sunbeds for everyone so no fighting over them :) Entertainment was great fun, they had some great acts in on each night.
My daughter loved the kids club with Charissa. The girl couldn't be more friendly if she tried. My daughter wanted to play with her everyday, she really took a shining to her and she certainly does a great job!! She's very patient and always made sure kids felt involved and are having fun :)
Overall i would most definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. I hope to return next year with my family again!

Just arrived home on Saturday from this hotel. All the staff are great including Viva staff and Thomson reps. Pool area is excellent plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The entertainment is good mostly, but a parrot show???!!! That may be ok for kids, but not for the evening entertainment. The rest of the hotel is really tired looking, the rooms do not have adequate wardrobe space for a 2 weeks holiday, and are not the cleanest rooms we have ever been in. The bedding has seen better days and as for the towels, they didn't dry you because there wasn't any nap to them, grubby looking things with holes in! We were lucky if they were changed 4 times in the whole 2 weeks. Food was okay, plenty of choice but a lot of the veg was cold. All in all a hotel that is sinking, but with staff that do their best under the cicumstances.

Have just returned from a great week at this Hotel. The food was plentiful and of good quality they also catered for vegetarians.
Rooms were a little dated but spotless. The air conditioning was excellent just remember to close the sliding doors when its on. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful and the cleaners worked hard to keep the hotel clean. The pool area was large with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas.
The only niggles I had were with the poor quality towels, the sheets on the bed were paper thin and there were no mattress protectors. Blankets were provided but these needed washing! It looks as if the new owners are updating the improving this Hotel, they have made an excellent start!
Santa Ponsa has an excellent beach, lots of shops, restaurants and bars.
There is an excellent bus service from Santa Ponsa and its easy to get to other resorts. I would advise catching the bus to Palma early in the day as it does get crowded. If you are thinking of going on the wooden train to Soller catch the 102 direct bus to Palma, do not get off at the Port of Palma, but stay on until you reach the bus station. You will find the wooden train ticket office on the right as you leave the bus station on foot. Once in Soller catch another bus to Deia which will take you on the coast road with breathtaking views. Deia is small but well worth a visit. It is easy to catch another bus from Deia to Valldemossa which is a truly magical place.
Would return to this Hotel.

Room Tip: Choice a room as high up as possible, rooms away from the pool are quieter

Had a lovely week at this hotel. We took our 7 month old daughter with us, she was well catered for with a lovely, clean travel cot provided in our room. Only problem on that front was the lack of high chairs available as there were a lot of small children staying. Food was good, plenty of choice and the staff were excellent and very friendly. Rooms are basic and a bit dated but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. TV is old but we didn't go away to watch TV so that didn't bother us. Shower and air conditioning were both excellent! Pool is big and clean, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for shade. Beach, shops and restaurants at the bottom of the road so very convenient. There are plenty of bars if that's what you are looking for, but these are mostly grouped together in one street so easily avoided if you don't! Beach also had plenty of sun loungers and sea was calm and great for kids. All in all a great holiday for a 3* hotel and we would definitely return in the future.

Just arrived home after a week of compromise. My wife and I booked a late holiday with Thompson and although our Thompson travel agent was unable to recommend the all inclusive holiday personally, we trusted Thompson's reputation for quality. After a long transfer from the airport in the early hours and witnessing the police and ambulance services attending a person lying outside one of our drop off hotels I was less than impressed. Welcome to Mallorca I'm so glad this wasn't our welcoming comitee.
On arrival the check in was quick and we were offered a light meal. It was awful a salad that truly had seen better days and had no refrigeration. Whilst waiting for the bus transfer last night I discovered why the food was so bad. It had been prepared and left on a table around 10pm and we arrived around 3am, at least 5 hours sitting in the warmth. This is not acceptable.
The hotel its self is very dated and I believe it is under new management although I understand from conversations the hotel had a bit of a bad reputation a few years ago. Though the present owners/managers are doing the best to improve this. Its being sold by Thompson as a 3*+ I'm no snob but they cannot be serious with this rating. The food is poor quality cafeteria style, the basic services are chargeable (the fridge on the room 3 euros per day, safe 3 euros per day, wifi 3 euros per day and so on....) the bedding was very poor quality and never changed in the whole week we were there. The towels were of simular poor quality.
Thompson's had a very heavy presence at the hotel, but I feel there is very little they ould do to rectify the quality issues so rather than complain to a young kid and be fobbed off with sympathy we have decided to wait and formally complain to Thompson now we have returned home.
The food issues were so bad that even though we paid for all inclusive we ate out in local restaurants because we couldn't face the cattle market and rubbish food.
If Thompson have recently started marketing this hotel and as suspect there is to be a major long over due refit, then Thompson should habe waited till it was completed.
Also, they appear to be selling to mature couples and young families alike and I would suggest they may need to make this clearer. Being the former we much prefer a quiter evening than the sound of a screaming over tired child in the bar long after its bedtime.
We were not the only couples to feel this way. On our last evening we could only offer our sympathies to a couple who had just arrived and already complained about the food and were facing two more weeks. We gave them a card for a very nice restaurant just round the corner.
To conclude not our cup of tea and we will never be going back.
Thompson await our call!

Arrived at this Hotel at the last week in May 2014 for 2 weeks checked in very quickly reception staff very friendly room was on the first floor two lights not working in bathroom/toilet room was facing on to a flat roof of the Hotel with the rear of another Hotel at the end of the roof it is the smallest room my wife and I have ever stayed in the furniture was very old fashioned with shallow drawers which did not hold a lot wardrobe was the same and did not hold enough clothes for two weeks we had a very old portable television with limited channels(don't think they have heard of LCD or Plasma here) we were only left hand towels no bath towels at all. I complained to reception about the problems lights and towels sorted out very quickly but to change to a better room they wanted 210 euros there was also a charge of 50 euros for Wi-Fi which I think is extreme we did not pay any of those charges as they were not planned for. Food was pretty good and staff very friendly Thomson reps could not do enough to help Hotel badly needs refurbished and a change of policy on there pricing structure which seems to try to get as much money as possible out of guests if you ask to keep your room on after 12pm it is 60 euros I don't think my wife and I will ever be back here again

Room Tip: ask when booking if you can have a quiet room or one with a view low floor etc there may be charges...

We have just returned from Majorca staying at this smart and pristine clean hotel. The food was varied and plentiful with lots of choice for vegetarians. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The pool was great with plenty of sunbeds - they took off any 'reserved towels' after 40 mins so people could not hog the beds. The room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked a street at the front of the hotel - better I think than overlooking the pool and entertainment area if you are not a night owl. Our only niggle was that although the mattresses were obviously new they had no mattress protectors on and the sheets were so thin you could read a book through them. Not sure that I would want to sleep on the mattresses at the end of the season!
Good bus service into Palma but beware although a 'bendy bus' was often full up before getting to Santa Ponsa! Get to the stop before 9 if you are planning a day out. Go into Palma on the 102 - direct service calling at the port and finishing in the bus station. Go to the bus staion if planning on going out for the day to other resorts.

Room Tip: Higher floors are away from the ugly roof views of some of the first floor rooms. Rooms that face t...
