“Good holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

Just back 03/07/14 from a week at this hotel with partner and 6 yo. Was quite worried by some of the overly negative reviews but they turned to be unfounded. There was no free WiFi and if I'm being over critical the food was quite repetative. The chef guy was always fun and the meat on the bone served was always delightful. Rooms adequate for what I expected, no better or worse than other 3 star hotels I've stayed I. Unfortunately no pool view from our room but on 5th floor overlooking the front of the hotel and a partial sea view so not too bad at all. Sunset over the hills from the front also so nice at night. The one thing I will say is that the entertainment team were wonderful, especially with the children and there was always something to do for all ages. Thompson Reps also very helpful in the hotel and the staff all very friendly also. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is very central to the beach and town centre. The entertainment teams and night entertainment are due credit and made for a very enjoyable holiday for us all. With a few tweaks here and there I would have given this 5 stars as it met my expectations and more.

We had a fantastic holiday, if I was being really picky the food could have been better and the room was on the small size, however that was outweighed by the fantastic location, helpful and friendly staff, great pool and the fact the hotel was spotless and very family friendly.

We just got back from our Thompson cruise & stay, with the 2nd wk staying at the Rey Don Jaime, Santa Ponsa..So here's the truth,
Only 5 floors so its not a big hotel, & 5 lifts, hardly any waiting time.. Decent size pool which woz never crowded, loads of swimming space always, nice size children's pool for under 5s. Lots of sunbeds with good large brolley cover. Very central for shopping & 4 mins at slow walking to a the nice beach. Shops open till late, (2300hrs +). Good cheap price drink shop for bringing back duty free, just go past MacDonalds, (on ur rite side) to top of rd, turn rite, 40yds on ur rite, u cant miss it. Bak to hotel,, constant hot water from shower or bath, snacks all day at pool bar with a toastie machine also. Freezing cold water on tap all day which ive never had at an other hotel, plus at dinner you get a big btl of water if u want it, no charge, from the small bar in the Restaurant with hardly any queuing, p.s. the Rose wine is good with most food dishes. 3 diff cheeses every night but a better choice of biscuit would be nice. Here's a good tip,, a nice corner room overlooking the pool & sun during the day, then turns rite to give u the sun up to sundown about 20.00hrs is rooms 275, 375, 475, just overlooking the pool is 272,273,274, ect same on the other floors.
Food is Excellent, with lots of choices, & hot like it should be, if u cant find something from this lot stay at home, there's something wrong with you. i also thought having 2 diff choices of soup woz a nice touch. Breakfast woz full English plus more extras, you couldn't eat it all if u had 1 of everything on offer. NOW FOR THE BEST BIT OF ALL,, "The Drink" i couldn't believe i woz reading the all inclusive package right, This Hotel gives out our favorite drinks (for free) i.e. Bailey's,, Ameretto, (Dissarono substitute),, & Malibu, which is great with sprite on a hot day, also Apricot Brandy with just ice, is another example. These brilliant extras which u will be hard pushed to get at any other hotel ( unless quite pricey), made our wks holiday here one of the best we've had for a long time, for you Bingo players, the bingo is played here for big money, 5 Euro for a strip of 6, 1 line over €120+ & full house every night woz €300+. Live entertainment 4 nite out of 7 we thot woz good for a hotel, A special mention has to go to a comedy story telling, cum opera singer, prop user, his name is GEORGE PENA, if you his name on any posters make sure you go see his act,, had everyone in stiches.
A couple of little niggles, towels need renewed, very thin and tired, bed sheets thin and not big enuf to fit bed properly, broken lock on balcony door took 3 days to fix. Our room, number 484 had no drawers, Strange..
I will finish this Review by telling you all if like me & my wife you are thinking of a cruise & stay with Thompsons, on the Island Escape,, DON'T BOTHER,, Book the whole 2 wks at this hotel, u wont be disappointed its far better value for money with all you get extra's, drink, food, pool, shopping, ect.. My Review of our 1st week on Thompson's island escape can be read on Thompson cruise reviews.com under the heading of THE REAL TRUTH #3. Then you will understand this review better.

This is a good hotel and the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They always spoke to my Daughter and were very smiley. The food was very good and had a great variety. There a lots of sunbeds and have lots of umbrella's so there was not a rush to get there so my 2 year old always had a spot in the shade.
What I didn't like though is that the evening entertainment is outside and obviously people were smoking. We did not watch hardly any of the shows because we didn't want our Daughter sitting amongst it as we had the same problem around the child pool. From what we did see of the entertainment looked very good. We were also unlucky that 200 students arrived so the noise at night was unbearable! Bad timing.
I cannot praise the staff enough though, they really were so helpful.

Room Tip: There is no fitness centre and sleep quality was terrible due to noise and not the bed being uncomfo...

what a disappointment this year. arrived on Sunday really looking forward to another relaxing 9 days at this hotel, but on Monday 60 students arrived and by Wednesday it became 200 students in total, we had them with us for the whole time and the dining room was just like a students refectory, noise was not what the rest of the holiday guests wanted. We asked about how long they were staying and told,10 days. Some guests were having to change rooms because of the disturbance at night, our thomson rep said if we went to the dining room early instead of 8pm it would be better as the students liked to it late, well so did we!! will be giving this hotel a miss now this was our 5th visit but no more, what a shame the hotel have lost a lot of guests through this.

Room Tip: always go road side and 4th or 5th floor

I recently took my 18 month old here with my partner, the staff welcome you so much everyday they would all go out of there way to make effort with her which was fab, everything is really good just the pools the only down fall & there's too many sunbeds not very safe for toddler to be around so we went out a lot, the square is great for kids bit of a walk but loads to do, we only ate breakfast in hotle but every morning it was great, loads to choose & always cooked we'll ignore the people who are moaning this hotle is the best one around all the others looked awful compared to this one
