Stayed here for one week 5th August to 12th August with my mum and son aged 14. First impressions were , lovely spacious cover, rooms clean and OK size. Good sized balcony, air con great, great location but not enough space to hang clothes , towels a disgrace make sure to ask for ones with Viva marked on them as we only received these on our very last night. As always not enough sunbeds or space at pool area, pool way too small for size of hotel, opted for the beach everyday which was lovely, so glad it was close by 2 min walk. We went A/L and plenty of snacks toasties, burgers etc, these are next to poolside bar BUT left too long in the sun and although covered flies still got on them. What really let's the hotel down is the dining room and food, didn't think it was clean and the food is a complete disgrace!!!! So if you like going to Asda cafe then you might like this. The best meal was breakfast , lunch and dinner was always cold and disgusting. This is the only hotel we have stayed in where they serve the previous nights chips for breakfast!! The noise level in the dining room coming from staff with trollies banging doors clearing dishes away is unbelievable! Staff were not pleasant apart from Peter the barman. Entertainment poor , they all seemed very lazy, Thomson reps did not acknowledge us. The last straw was vomit in corridors from drunk teenagers sleeping all night in corridors. This hotel is being up graded to a four star next year but in my opinion it has still to earn it's three. So glad the hotel was near beach, shops, restaurants etc or it would have been a complete nightmare . Santa Ponsa as a resort was OK but will not be returning here or to this hotel.

Dear Guest,

The Hotel Viva Rey Don Jaime, would like to Thank You for your visit and of course for spending some of your time commenting about your stay with us.

As you probably know, the reservation of sunbeds is strictly forbidden by our house rules so as to guarantee that all guest can enjoy of a relaxing sunbath by the pool, this is why our lifeguard removes towels from sunbeds that are not used for more than 40 minutes.
Moreover, we are sad not having managed to captivate our gastronomic offer. Food is one of the most important pillars for us. That’s why every year we try to improve our quality and variety cuisine.

We lament that we could not covered your expectations about the service in the restaurant. Our goal is to offer the best service every day, so as to achieve maximum satisfaction of our clients.

Thank you again for sharing with us your experience because it helps us to know where we can improve our service. We hope to have the opportunity to positively surprise in an upcoming occasion.

Best regards,
Monica Sanchez

Just back from a 7 night day for the 2nd year running and it was just as fabulous as last year. The staff are fantastic - friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and there were new towels in the rooms. We didn't have power in the room when we returned one day but after ringing down to reception, a maintenance man appeared within 3 minutes and quickly resolved the situation. The food is great, always varied and lots of it. Example of one evening's food was Hungarian steak goulash, pork in Apple sauce, roast chicken, breaded ham and cheese, pasta, two types of pasta sauce, 4 different cold salads, soup, bread, vast array of different vegetables, chips, to name just some. If people can't find anything they like to eat must be EXTREMELY fussy eaters!!! I have to say, after being spoilt with the entertainment team of Max, Rosh and Tom last year, this year's entertainment team have a lot to learn but this is their first year so they need to be given a fair chance. The professional shows are good and there is bingo every night with average payouts of €180 for a line and €350 for a full house so well worth taking part. All in all the hotel is great and I would thoroughly recommend it. Improvements are being made ready for May 2015 which can only make it an even better place to stay!!!

A really good hotel ,room nice and clean food very good ,no problems at bar for the all inclusive drinks. Overall a great location and a great Holliday, please don't be put off by the bad reviews as in my opinion they are not correct , the only negative I have is it is a bit crowded around the pool area ,but if you can handle that then no problem . I would return to this hotel.

We had a lovely week here, the food was very good.we have stayed in other all inclusive hotels and the Don Jaime was very comfortable in comparison to some! The room was cleaned daily and most of the staff very friendly, although the more mature male bar staff could have smiled and been less grumpy when serving the drinks.but this was only a minor gripe as the holiday overall was really good.we did have to wait only a short time for our room, and of course I like the hotel policy of not saving sun beds .towels were removed when guests did not use them.would go back,we really enjoyed this holiday

Room Tip: Ask for a pool/sea views room as the hotel overlooks the street and the many other hotels in close p...

Just returned from a weekend stay at the Rey Don Jaime Hotel and I honestly can't find anything to complain about. We had a fantastic stay.

I have been to Santa Ponsa 3 times now and this is by far the best of the hotels I have stayed in.

The hotel is situated in a great location meters from the beach, shops, restaurants and bar's. It's positioned just far enough back off the main road that your are not constantly disturbed with the noise coming from the main areas.

The hotel is currently a 3 star however is undergoing work to upgrade it to a 4 star hotel. On arrival we were informed we had been upgraded to one of the newly renovated rooms on the first floor which was a pleasant surprise. The room was modern, clean and spacious, it had a balcony and air conditioning. There was a television, fridge and safe. The wardrobe had a couple coat hangers and some shelves. The bathroom was spacious with a powerful shower and a large bottle of shower gel was provided as well as mini soaps. Towels were changed daily. As with most hotels the walls were paper thin and you could hear into other rooms but we didn't spend enough time in the room for it to be an issue. The way the hotel is situated very few rooms come with a pool view. We had a view down the side road however again it wasn't an issue.

The pool area was a good size with an adult pool and a children's pool. We went to the pool at varying times of the day and always managed to get a sun lounger. One we had to wait about 20 minutes for a lounger. Some people did have the habit of putting towels on sun loungers then going away for hours on end.

Found all of the staff from the reception staff to the restaurant staff to the bar staff, maids, lifeguard and chefs to be very friendly and welcoming. They always had a smile for you.

Had no issues with the food either, whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks there was always plenty of choice and staff were quick to refill when food was running low.

Breakfast consisted of the usual cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, pancakes, croissants, fruits, sausages, eggs (boiled, fried, scrambled), bacon (English or Spanish), black pudding, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes to name but a few.

Lunch and dinner tended to be various meats (beef, chicken, pork, ham etc), fish, pasta, salad, chips, potatoes, veg, pizza, burgers.

Only went for snack's once which was toasties or mini filled rolls.

There was also a good selection of drinks on the all inclusive from beer, wine, cava, spirits, cocktails etc. Each person was limited to 2 drinks at a time which wasn't an issue. You never had to queue more than a minute or two for drinks.

The entertainment consisted of the kids club, dancers, reptile show etc etc. There was also bingo with good prize money of 175 euro for a line and 300 euro for a full house.

All in all a really great hotel. I have no complaints and would definitely return in the future.

I was slightly worried after reading some reviews before going, however we have just returned back from 9 nights half board. The hotel staff are lovely and helpful. One of the nicest 3* hotels. Food fine, rooms cleaned everyday, pool lovely. Not sure what some people expect, but in my opinion there is nothing to complain about with this resort or hotel. The location is perfect, beach is beautiful. Dont hesitate to book this hotel!. Hope this helps. :) happy holidays.

Just returned from 11 nights all inclusive & will be booking for next year. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly by really friendly reception staff. Our room was ready for us (we paid extra for a pool/sea view room) which had pool towels kettle & fridge & could watch entertainment from the balcony if we didn't want to go out. Rooms were comfortable & cleaned & towels changed daily. All the staff were so friendly & helpful. Read the comments about poor food but can honestly say the food we had was beautiful, & plenty of it & an amazing choice. Entertainment was the usual kind of stuff with some professional shows. Animation team were lovely & tried to get everyone involved, kids seemed to have a great time at the pirates club. Charissa & the rest of the team worked tirelessly trying to ensure we were all kept entertained. Sun beds went quickly & lots of people put their towels out early although if you left your bed for more than 40
mins the lifeguard removed the towels which was fair enough. One tip, don't get hotel wifi, it's €6 per day & it's NOT per room! You can use more than one device but NOT at the same time, you have to log off one device wait an hour then you can log onto a different one. Go to the end of the road, McDonald's is free & so is you get good signal on the promenade
