“Could be a lot better”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

We stayed all inclusive at the Pirates Village in August 2013 for 10 nights, the hotel was fully booked.

If you are a child, you will love this place, on tap drinks and ice cream, food when you want it and pools with slides, what more could a child want.

If you are an adult however things are very different. The rooms, very basic, info said would be cleaned every other day, this did not happen, towels were to be changed every other day, again this did not happen. Food, not a great choice and not very warm on some occasions and no microwave to warm it up in. Not a great selection, salad choice was the worst I have seen, you could get cucumber at breakfast but non at lunch or tea time. Kids food was always the same, pasta and some type of sauce together with chicken nuggets and something else. Not enough seats in the inside restaurant for everyone to sit at especially when it was raining. Pool area could have done with a good clean. The pool itself although looked good, had plenty of missing tiles on the inside and plenty of kids had to wear pool shoes to protect their feet from being cut. We bought our daughter some shoes after she cut her little toe quite badly. The pool bar area was filled with old tables and wicker chairs which were a bit wobbly, had screws sticking out of them and the covers were filthy. Again not enough seats for everyone to sit outside on a night to watch the entertainment. I appreciate the bar staff will bring you out a table however the tables get closer and closer to the pool which is deep and the kids are running around and anyone could fall into the pool as no barrier is put up. Only one toilet available in the hotel for people to use on a night, ok if you don't mind queuing, however a little bit ridiculous really and it was quicker to go to your room.

To be honest, don't think would return to this hotel. As someone said when we were there, it is ok if you are a chav but if you are not, you may not enjoy your stay

Room Tip: not facing the road, request a room away from the road it will be a lot quieter for you

Had a really good holiday in santa ponsa. Booked self catering, so didn't take have much use of bar or restaurants. Had met friends who were all inclusive, who said food was OK. Unfortunately not everything on snack bar menu is all inclusive, where we had the choice of everything to pay for. Drink prices were average. Apparantly beer was cheap rubbish. Only seen 1 night entertainment - peter pan - which personally wouldn't rate. However missed the pirate show which did look good.

Pool area was excellent - travelled with 8 yr old and was never out of the pool and slides. Sunbeds were new and very good.

Great Pirate Theme around hotel and was very clean. Could definately be noisy if above entertainment, so best ask for quite room on side of hotel.

Inside apartments were clean and good sized bedrooms. Shower wasn't the best. Hopefully be fixed when renovated. Good sized balcony.

Loved the resort of Santa Ponsa. Not every bar open, however enjoyed McTavishes - had Karaoke and tribute nights. Looked as though would be great in high season. Nice shops and restaurants.

Visited Octoberfest which was on whilst we were there. Great entertainment and atmosphere.

Beach was lovely, went on catamaran boat cruise to Port Andratx which was nice and good value. Would like to have docked at beach though.

Visited Kathmandu house in Magaluf (9 euros for taxi) - worth a visit.

Would definately go back to Santa Ponsa, would go back self catering, but don't think all inclusive as too much to do out and about.

Weather was great whilst we were there - late 70's.

Could be doing with kids play area. However had pool table and air hockey.

Room Tip: Choose one of the side rooms away from entertainment - we were in 124.

We had booked this village for a 7 night holiday but when we got there we discovered it wasnt for us....it is the most amazing place for children..so much fun and all their needs catered for...a safe environment for them to play and be safe all the time. Parents can see them all the time!!The pirates welcome them at the hotel door and they have pirate themed play each day.
Stephanie is the fantastic manager of this village and offered us a transfer which we accepted. She is so efficient and helpful and nothing is a problem for her and the lovely staff here...the pool area and apts are lovely and the village is a great place for children and their parents to stay. All the staff are at your call every day.The supermarket is across the road for self catering people too. A lovely place to stay but not really for older couples.

Room Tip: Any room would be good here as theres a lift service available although with a young baby or two low...

We loved the place from the moment the taxi pulled up outside and kids said "wow!". On the first night my son turned on the bidet and it was leaking. I informed reception and was told it would be fixed in the morning and it was. I was very pleased with the food as we had an all-inclusive package. Always a good variety to suit every taste. The entertainment was simply brilliant. Pirate invasions were great fun. Kids only went to kids club once because they loved the pirate themed pool area so much. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean but in need of updating which I have heard will be done this winter. Staff were always visibly cleaning pool area, reception and restaurant which was good to see. I really can't say enough good things about Pirates Village!

We spent the October holiday week in this hotel on a self catering package. We loved it !! The hotel is very family friendly and my kids age 16, 13 and 4 all enjoyed it. The pool had areas which suited all of them. The rooms were old fashioned but comfy, clean and well equipped. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with a family. The only downside was our room was on the main road so got noisy early in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, away from the main road.
