“Great for kids and families”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We had a great time, and spent the stay relaxing while the kids played in the pools surrounding us. They had a great time, as did we, but felt that the rooms could have been better, as we had dirty marks on our walls, and a hole in one of the doors.

Never come across a hotel who painstakingly lock sun beds away at night and do not unlock until 9 am in the morning. A lot of holiday makers especially mums like to relax early morning on a sun bed whilst young children are still sleeping absolutely no chance here then come 8 am everyone is milling around waiting for sunbeds to be released it's an absolute fiasco hotel state it is either to stop people reserving beds or to clean pool I have been to many a hotel where pool area is able to be cleaned without having to stack and lick the beds including five stars which were much cleaner than thus hotel. As far as people laying towels on sunbeds holiday makers are well used to this fir many years and us accepted that if you want a particular place you get up early. Rooms are very very basic small and in desperate need of overhaul even our bedding and towels had holes. Outside seating areas are cane chairs which are all sticky and really stained ingrained dirt on cushion covers I feel we paid about a grand too much for the standard of this hotel . Entertainment for kids was ok food was ok and location is great plenty of restaurants and beach was spotless si if you like a beach holiday this area is for you just not this hotel .

Room Tip: Rooms at front extremely noisy with traffic road sweepers and refuge collections

Me and my family had an amazing holiday at pirates village my 5 year old son keeps asking when we are going back. The food was basic but there is plenty of places to eat not far from the hotel. The entertainment staff here were the best I've seen at any other holiday we have been on shows were great the lady on reception is a Jem would go out of her way to help you can't wait to return next year with my mini pirate.

We booked through Jet2Holidays and when the bus arrived late at night seeing the hotel from the outside we were all very excited but after getting to our room we felt cheated and let down with the room and the contents of the room. The sofa was stained all over, the bed cover was faded, the walls had plenty of stains and marks on and the bathroom had hair stuck to the walls, but the worst thing were the towels as they did not smell or look fresh and had plenty of stains on them. Staff are great and especially the bar staff that work very hard and the life guard was very friendly with the kids, but unfortunately that didn't make up for the room.
The location is also very good and close enough to the beach but very busy and a bit noisy for us. If you go to the beach take your towels and don't pay for the sunbeds because they are very expensive and if you sit on one the men in charge of the sun beds will be there within seconds to ask for money.

This was our second visit to Pirates Village. After a great holiday last year we booked direct with granisla as soon as we got home. This was before the news of the refurb rooms only being for jet2 customers, and then only after paying a supplement so we were a little disappointed to be in one of the regular rooms, which really do need a bit of a revamp. Decor is a little dated, and furniture is a little tatty, but nothing that would spoil your holiday.

On the plus side we had a great view of the pool and main stage so could watch the entertainment from our balcony.

We went self catering, but used the snack bar a few times for lunch. Pretty cheap, about 18euro for snacks and a drink for 4 so can't complain. Facilities in the room are a little basic for a full self catering holiday - there was no oven and no microwave (I'm sure we had a microwave last year!). We managed to make stove top meals no problems, but an oven would have been handy for things like pizza etc. Having a great supermarket over the road made it easy to cook at home and we even made fresh pancakes a few mornings.

The pool was a big hit (again) with the kids - we literally couldn't get them out of it! The slides were well used. By the time we left in late July it had become a little difficult to get sun beds as the place had gotten much busier over the course of our 2 weeks. People reserving beds at 6 o'clock in the morning is very annoying, especially when they didn't come down to the pool until after lunch sometimes!

The area is much nicer than the other end of Santa Ponsa where all the young lads congregate, and it is a pleasant 5 mins walk down to the beach.

My family & I stayed at Pirates Village on 7th of May for a week all inclusive.

The front of the hotel is amazing and the kids were blown away! Check in was quick and efficient and the hotel manager Maria was there to greet us and told us to look for her if we ever had any problems throughout our stay.
We stayed in a standard room which is a one bedroom apartment and it was a good size, nice and bright. It had everything you could need, kettle, toaster, microwave and plates, cups, cutlery etc. the lock for the balcony as well as the front door is high up to keep the little ones from getting out. I do think the rooms need a bit of updating and more shelving or some extra coat hangers for storing clothes.
The pool area is fantastic and the life guards actually pay attension unlike most places we've been before.
The food was fine, I think a lot of people forget that it's not a 5 star hotel. We always made a full meal out of what was available and it was always cooked properly and tasted great. The breakfast was really good.
The guys at the bar were friendly and remembered your order as they got to know you. Soft drinks, beer, wine, sangria, water, tea & coffee and ice cream was all self service which is good.
The snack bar was just ok, the food was nice but not great. They should change the way you order to make it run more efficiently.
The daytime entertainment was brilliant. Robbie (the legend) is a really nice, friendly guy, he does the riffle shooting, pool tournaments, games etc which was good fun.
The evening entertainment is also good, the pirate shows are fab and they include fireworks. The only problem was that there is only one female toilet and there was often a queue! And the parrot show was boring but that was the only bad night. The kids loved the mini disco which is on every night and they get to go up and dance on the stage.
The Pirate Attack was fantastic and my husband, dad and brother in law all got to walk the plank! So it's really fun for adults also.
The kids club was really good, the kids didn't want to leave and you really felt that they were in safe hands.

Overall we had an amazing time!!
I think it only needs a few changes to make it perfect, updated rooms, more clothing storage, more seating at the stage and more than one toilet at the reception.
But obviously these things haven't put us off as we have booked up for next May already!!
Can't wait to return to Pirates Village!

A great hotel for the kids, with a lot of fun going on. We were met by pirates and they followed us to the bus when we left. Great consept. Fantastic facade, nice common areas and helpful staff. The pool area was great, with depths for everyone from babies to adults. A lot happening all the time - from children`s club to water aerobic.

We didn`t have all incluse and never tried the food - but it didn`t look very sophisticated.

The rooms were simple but ok. The cleaning wasn`t too good the first week, but much better the next week. The aircondition was placed by the door to the veranda, which made it difficult to cool down the bedroom.

The worst thing about Pirates Village was the noise in the evenings. The shows would go on until 22.30, which made it impossible to enjoy sitting on the balcony - even though our room was as far away from the entertainment as possible. Difficult to understand that the music has to be so loud so late in a family hotel almost every evening.

Room Tip: As far away from the middle as possible. And as high up as possible.
