“Great Holiday, Fantastic Hotel and Facilities”
Reviewed 22 August 2012

We have just returned from Club Santa Ponsa after a 7 night stay from the 13th to the 20th of August. Club Santa Ponsa is located on a hillside about 800 metres from Santa Ponsa centre and provides breath-taking views over the bay and beach areas.

The holiday did not start well as we arrived at midnight on the 13thto be told that our room was not available and that we were to be transferred to Hotel Globales Playa Santa Ponsa for 1 night and that we should return the following day and our room would be ready. The hotel picked up the cost of the taxis both ways and when we returned at 12.30 the following day as compensation they had upgraded our studio booking to a 1 bedroom apartment just above reception (room 8) and gave us 2 free adult tickets for the Western Water Park. The experience did not spoil our holiday but this seems to be a very common occurrence with guests turning up and being transferred to other hotels for the first day (myself and my fiancé used to sit on our balcony and see people struggling up the hill with all their cases only to be getting into a taxi 15 minutes later).

The apartment itself was well furnished, the living area had a sofa that converted into a double bed, an armchair, table and four chairs, and full size fridge with a couple of rings to cook on if you wanted to. The bedroom had twin beds with two bedside cabinets and built in wardrobe with drawers to one side. The bathroom was simple with a toilet, bidet, washbasin and bath with shower over it. The balcony was huge with table and four chairs, and still lots of space to walk round. A lot of reviewers have commented about the lack of air-conditioning. Even in the middle of August we found that the ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom did a reasonably good job if you also left doors open at night.

My fiancé, my son and I thought that the hotel was really good especially and a special mention needs to go to the restaurant and bar staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were really attentive. The Staff are very friendly especially with the kids, all staff always making a fuss over them. The food was really good and I don't see how they could have made it any better. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast choice and my fiancé and son loved all the meats and fresh fish at lunch and dinner. There was a different theme most nights and there was always a good choice with 2 or 3 meat dishes, with vegetables, and rice, pasta dishes. Chips were always there if you wanted them as was a good choice of salad items and deserts. All the food was well cooked and at the correct temperature. We never had any problems queuing or waiting around as its all self-service and you could help yourself to the soft drinks, wine and beer.

The kids disco was the same thing every night and started at 8.30pm (my son loved it every night though), then the animation team who are all friendly and work and very hard start with the bingo and then a show. The shows were not to mine and my fiancé’s liking so we sat outside the bar talking with other couples and families whilst my son watched the shows with the friends that he had made. My son loved all the shows and the animation team were great with all the kids sitting there. My son especially enjoyed the snake show. We never had any problem getting a drink and you can help yourself to ice cream, tea, coffee and fruit juices day & night. All the kids loved the fact that slush’s were included at the bar. We thought that the all-inclusive drinks choice was good (far better than a holiday 8 weeks earlier in Rhodes) and not watered down. All of the bar staff are very generous with their spirits so just be careful or you will defiantly wake up with a sore head. One tip from my fiancé is if you are having cava ask for it with ice and you will get it in a tall tumbler instead of a small flute.

The pool was lovely, maybe a little too deep for small children outside of the special children’s area, but it was always clean. There were occasions that I was worried for the safety of some children who it appeared had just been let loose by their parents and were doing back flips etc. and were getting dangerously close to the rimmed edge of the pool. Please remember that there are no lifeguards on duty and just keep an eye on your kids. We had the usual problems with getting sunbeds but my fiancé is an early riser and used to go down at about 7.30 and stake her claim on our beds then sit there and read magazines so that either the staff or other holiday makers did not move the towels.

This hotel was great for us. We all love Majorca and would definitely go back again.

Not so small it lost out on facilities but not so huge that it was impersonal, not rough at all but had no pretensions to Ibiza floaty curtain shi shi madness, and tucked away up a hill with beautiful views but close enough that a walk in to town was no problem. None of our party of 10 could believe we got such a great hotel for such a great price, it is miles away in terms of what it had to offer from most of the hotels in the local resorts. Staff obliging, friendly atmosphere and to sit out on the terrace at night and watch the sun go down was a joy.

Never go back to the same place twice, but if I did I would with this one.

Had a great week in this hotel! Food was brill, loads of choice, well cooked.
Good range of drinks, beer, wine, sangria, cava, cocktails and loads of spirits.
Staff were all very friendly, entertainment is hilariously bad but kept the kids entertained.
Rooms large and very clean, our room was cool but other rooms were boiling and loads of people had to buy fans. You can rent AC unit for 70 euros.
The free bus down to beach is great and although only seats 7 people the driver will do loads of trips so was never a problem.
Food stops at half nine to ten so if you get peckish later then you need to have a few supplies.
Would recommend this hotel for people with children!

ok... me and wife have just returned from a holiday from hell in this place , im going to give you an honest opion of this place , visual at 1st impression the hotel is ok , nice views due to position , Rooms are very basic , no air con , however you can hire a fan ( WHICH MADE NO DIFFERENCE) Food was very basic , slop, various options of bland one meal fits all nationalities type, snack are served at 12 to 4 which is just chips and burger or hotdog , pretty poor, overall food was of very poor quality, would give 1 out 10 compared with outh AI ive been on , entertainment on an evening very poor , the hotels position is ridiculous , any one having walking difficulties or any young children or genrally not fit people should not go here , cost of taxi to centre is about 4euro, which becomes costly each day , overall my polite opinion of this hotel is...... if your after a very basic hotel and you dont mind s....food then its ok as long as you get it very cheap , but i wouldnt recomend it to anybody a liked ,who had saved up all year and wanted to treat them selves and there family ,
RIGHT LET TALK ABOUT SANTA PONSA - WHAT A DUMP ...... this resort is basically stuck in the 70's/80's very little change since then , looks in major need of a revamp , !!!!!!!!! Weather was very hot !!!!!!
if your going to Majoca play it safe ,,,,,, go to palma nova or alcudia , i would never go back to santa ponsa even for free.

Room Tip: ask for a room close to main reception

I stayed at Club Santa Ponsa from the 08/08/12 to 14/08/12 and first impression was great. The hotel is set on the top of a huge hill( a difficult walk up) but gives fantastic views of the island. The main pool was of decent size and they had a good resource of sunbeds (get up about 8am and reserve). From the pool side you can see the beach, sea and the mountains which is a breath taking view.
The food of the hotel was fantastic. They give a great variety and it was all cooked to perfection. The bar was good (strong spirits) however only allowed two drinks per person and there was only one person on at a time which resulted in queueing at busy times.
The room of the hotel let my experience down, the room was of decent size and the beds were changed every two days with fresh towels; however I did not have a balcony and my window looked out onto a children's play area this resulted in me not being able to open my curtains all holiday or my window, this was very disappointing. Other rooms looked great and if you had a balcony there would be no issue.
The hotel was very family orientated and the entertainment on a night was mainly based for children; for couples Santa Ponsa had a lovely night life, the left of the town was pubs and clubs which were extremely cheap, and to the right there was restaurants which were very nice.
Overall I had a fantastic holiday and would defiantly suggest to others and return myself.

Room Tip: If in rooms from 712-715 look at room but if not satisfied ask to change rooms straight away.

Got back last night from a fantastic week at this hotel, staff are really friendly and they always have a smile for you. The food was varied and of good quality always found something to eat. Met some lovely people who all agreed with me this is a fantastic place to bring your family. My only gripe was that there was no air conditioning. All in all a lovely place.

Room Tip: Ask for any rooms starting in the 200 and above these have the best views
