“Wish we could have stayed longer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

My Wife and I only had a short break at this hotel, we wished we had longer, it was absolutely fabulous, the staff, the cleanliness, the food we could not fault anything about the whole trip.
Yes there was quite a few steps and it is up a hill, but the views were well worth it. The hotel has good accessibility for wheelchairs, but it could be hard going due to it being on a hill etc. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Club Santa Ponsa and would highly recommend it to anyone. How people can complain about this hotel is beyond me, if you want 5 star go pay for 5 star, this hotel is one of the best 3 star hotels we've stayed in, and this review is coming from a couple who have stayed in 5 star accommodations in Mexico etc.
Please do not be put off this hotel by negative reviews, it really doesn't warrant any.
Thank you CSP, keep up the good work.

This was supposed to be a stress free hol for my husband and I and we came back to Santa Ponsa all excited as we have stayed in Jutlandia twice before but this place having such a terrible location and so many steps was a real pain in the neck. It had a massive impact on our hols as we just felt that we didn't want to leave the hotel and enjoy the resort as the walk back was horrible. Also the food was not great. My husband is fuming and is going to write his own review. From what I can understand the staff make good friends with some people and treat them super well and then ask them to share their thoughts here, so there you go.

If you like somewhere to recharge batteries...somewhere the kids will be thoroughly entertained, great service and away from the hustle and bustle this is the hotel for you. My main thing is cleanliness cant fault it there. The room was cleaned everyday (if you need it) all communial areas are cleaned daily and waiting staff at the restaurant constantly clean away plates.

Staffing in all areas is superb with everyone kind helpful and friendly to all. The kids loved being able to do different sorts of activities and the kids club staff were very patient and great with both kids and adults.
It is true that if you want somewhere to explore santa ponsa probably isn't the best place but some people did hire cars to get around. It is a winding road or lots of steps to the beach but after eating the food you will need the exercise. The beach is gorgeous and at this time of year quiet.
My only complaint which is no fault of the hotel is the transfer...after arriving in Majorca it took over two hours to get to the hotel. It is mainly due to the waiting time at the airport and the fact that you will no doubt be the last ones leaving the bus. I would definatly get a taxi next time.
Thank you for another amazing holiday

Room Tip: try getting the ones overlooking the beach or bay

Nice for adults with children.
Not very good if you have problems with stairs.
Not all the rooms has a view to the sea - ours didn't, but they kindly tried to find another room for us - and they did - it was just above the cafe and pool, so we chosed to stay in the first room.

Just returned from 1 week holiday at this hotel. We booked hotel last September through Alpha rooms but when we arrived with our 2 tired kids at 12.30am we were told that there was no room/booking for us even although they had the paperwork however the 2nd room that we had booked for my mother was ready. After an hour they found a room that we could sleep in until the morning, which was far from acceptable & as this was not our actual room there was no drinking water or food provided. After speaking with the manager the next morning , he assured us that it had just been a mixup & apologised & told us that this was in fact our allocated room - even although nothing in the room was prepared for us. After reading previous reviews this seems to be a regular occurrence & something management should look at otherwise they will loose repeat customers. After a bit of persuasion we were then provided with a lovely duplex apartment which had a 2 single beds upstairs & 2 sofas downstairs. There was a fantastic balcony also upstairs which had partial views of the bay. Only downside was that to get to the pool/reception/bar & restaurant you had to walk up about 50 steps. Pool is lovely with amazing views, bar area was fine with plenty of alcoholic drinks available, also soft drinks & ice cream for the kids. Although this area could get very busy & could have done with more staff at times. Restaurant was lovely with seating areas inside & outside. We thought the food was great & there was always plenty of choice & was very fresh. We did find though that the earlier you went the better variety you got. It can get busy at opening times with people queuing for lunch & dinner. Laura & Lucy at kids club was so lovely & done a fantastic job entertaining the kids. The hotel is set up on the hill so there are either loads of steps or steep hills to navigate to take you the the beach or the centre if town. Santa Ponsa is a great little town , if you are looking for a nice meal then "South Wind" is highly recommended - been eating there for many years & have never been disappointed , "Carlos" bar for cocktails & the one & only " Seans Place " for amazing live bands & a great atmosphere. Great holiday & hopefully be back next year x

Decided to go away early April with the family and friends looking for relaxation and to recharge the batteries. Not wanting to go too far we decided on Mallorca, knowing that it would be at least mildly warm. We have not stayed in Santa Ponsa before but the reviews of the area and the images did make the area look pleasant.

We decided upon the hotel complex Club Santa Ponsa. The reviews for the hotel were mostly very good and the views looked stunning. After a very lengthy transfer, which I will elaborate on later, we arrived at the hotel around mid-afternoon. The coach dropped us at the end of the driveway and the slope up to the reception is somewhat steep so if you are elderly or disabled pleased be warned. That said the entrance to the hotel is pleasant. Reception staff were attentive and pleasant and we did manage to get the rooms that we had asked for. However bear in mind that the hotel will not guarantee you what you ask for as they stated that even if you book 1 year in advance you will not be allocated a room until the day before your arrival !!
Being set in the hillside the hotel complex is set upon multiple levels and there are quite a few steps between apartments. Our apartment was close to the poll area and over-looked the bay. I have to say that the view is stunning and the balcony area, which is large, receives sun for most of the day. Rooms are clean and tidy and reasonably well equipped, we had a one bedroom apartment. Main room has kitchen area, sofa, table and chairs, fridge (a bonus on any holiday), flat screen TV with, surprisingly, more than one English speaking channel. Bathrrom was clean and tidy and modern and the bedroom was again clean tidy, twin beds adequate storage and safe( requires additional cost). I have to say that throughout the stay the maid service was pretty good and the rooms were thoroughly cleaned on all days, except Sunday.

Restaurant was clean and tidy and food on the whole was good. Breakfast is served between 7.30 and 10am – Lunch 1-3pm and dinner 7-9pm. Now comes the sting …. You have to be in there early to get the best of the food. If you stay at times of the year when there are a lot of German guests you will find that they are first in, take up all of the tables and have probably devoured all the best of the food. Each day for dinner there are specials but if you are not in by 7.30 you may well miss out !! There is NO management of the restaurant and there is a free-for-all when trying to get a table. Being an all you can eat you can guess the issues. It would have been nice for staff to manage the tables and to stop certain guests barging in left right and centre making meal times more stressful than it needed to be. There also seems to be one rule for one and another for others.

Pool areas are clean and tidy, like the rest of the complex. The main pool is heated so can be used on days that are not all that warm, however the water is NOT that warm to be honest. There are plenty of activities for adults and children and the staff that organise it are very good. Bar staff are very good, well Chencho the main barman is the other one was a bit useless. Evening entertainment was hit and miss ranging from the very good to the embarrassingly awful. All said and done the staff did their best all round and really cannot be faulted.
Beware that this hotel is a reasonable walking distance from the main beach area. You can walk along the sloped roads to the seafront or you can use the steps. This is NOT for those who are infirmed or disabled as the 463 steps are hard going even for the fit and healthy. That said if you decide to do the walk up the stairs the views are excellent.

All inclusive guests please be aware that even though the standard of food is pretty good it does get very boring. We stayed 5 days and we were bored of the selection after 3. Breakfast is best.

Now the transfer from the airport to the resort. This DOES NOT have anything to do with the hotel and is for reference only. DO NOT believe the information sent to you if you book transfer by Resort Hopper. We booked with them and they state 25 minute transfer … Oh My God … 2hr 15minutes after boarding the dirty bus we got to the resort. The service by Resort Hopper cannot be lambasted more. We refused the return journey and took a taxi instead which took 20 minutes and cost €38. Be warned as the journey is winding, the coaches are not that clean and in the height of summer when temps are in 90’s it would be unbearable especially those with young children.

Would we stay here again ? Probably not. Even though the whole resort is very clean and well-staffed the issues with meal times, the getting to and from the main town and the fact that there isn’t a great deal to do in Santa Ponsa would make us look elsewhere. That said please do not be put off at staying at Club Santa Ponsa because all in all it is very good value for money and far better than many we have stayed in. we were surprised by the temperatures for early April too. One day it rained but once the sun was out on the other days temperatures soon rose to around 80 degrees, evening are cool though.

Room Tip: Try and book a room with views over the bay. Remember to get in to restaurant early to get the best...

We recently got back from our holiday here and thought the hotel was really old and needs some attention asap. Our room was bare and ugly and had 2 uncomfortable single beds pushed together. Everything in it was from years ago and we spent as little time as possible in the room as it just felt so unwelcoming. The staff as others say were nice and always said hello but I do not know how people can praise the food! It was tasteless and never piping hot. The worst thing though is the location. The beach at Santa Ponsa is exceptionally nice and much better and cleaner than anticipated, but unfortunately the hotel is a long trek away and the steep walk back is unbearable. For us this hotel was a big disappointment.

Dear guest,

we regret our hotel was disappointing for you and that the food dind't satisfy your expectations. We try to do our best for all our guests.

What we can't change is the location, as you consider the worst thing. This is published everywhere and all guests who come to our hotel know that the beach is at 900m from here.

With our best regards,
