“This was one of my worst holidays EVER....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2009

I go away twice a year to all different places all over Europe and when possible further and thought i would give this place a try, First choice say it is 4 star... no way.
We arrived at about 10pm in the evening with three other coaches of people, so there was a lot of us to queue. We then queued for 2 hrs at reception as there was only one receptionist, when we got to the reception after this long wait the stafff were SO rude, no apology or welcome, more of a snear!
We were told if we were still hungry we could go into the dining room and food had been left out, this made me feel slightly better as i thought at least they had made some sort of effort for us, er no. When we got into the dining room, the food was there, but breakfast had also been laid out with tea towels over the top, there were two stray cats pushing their heads into the big bowls full of cereal on the table and eating out of them!
All of the drinks were watered down, the staff were just rude and did not welcome you at all, it was all such a shame, the hotel itself was really nice and could have been great, the food in the evenings wasnt too bad, although never very warm but that is normally the case with big all inclusive venues sue to the volume they have to provide for. The main dining room was very busy and again as with most all inclusives there was a lot of pushing and no queuing but that happens. They did have two other resturants that you could eat at once during our week stay within the all inclusive deal, the food in the mexican one was so awful after my 50 minute wait to be served, i walked out and left it all, it was cold, tasteless and just not edible really!
All of the gardens were nice and attended to and the pool area was nice and clean, no fights for sunbeds, but the hotel was in the middle of nowhere really too.
We went out one day on the bus, just to get out, the town was OK, nothing special at all and again, unlike tenerife or other places i have been i did not find the locals friendly at all or inviting, so we had one drink out and came back, which again was a shame. We did look at some of the resturants whilst we were out and the menu's looked quite expensive in comparison to places like main land spain.
Sorry to just run this place in to the ground but i would never go back, even if it was free!
Once i got home to England everyone said "oh you should have gone to the North of the island - not the south... ah now you tell me!!" Sorry to be so negative about this place but i spend all year saving for these holidays and what a waste of £1500 for myself and my husband to spend, i was gutted, it looked fab in the brochure. First choice when i spoke to them promised to speak to the staff re attitude and the cats in the food hall, but i doubt it happened, i never heard back.
Please steer clear, sorry!

We took advantage of an off season toddler for free special offer at the end of May-June. Our 2 3/4 yr son spent as much time as he could in t he shallow bar pool and sometimes with us in the deeper pool. We hardly made use of the children`s activities. The buffet food was excellent and varied. The staff efficient and pleasant, rooms spacious and clean. Only one problem. The balcony for the room was designed in such a way that our small son could easily climb it and nearly fall over the edge. This needs to be changed as we never felt comfortable with the balcony door open as he was always climbing it. Beach was great but building activities near bye would mean in the future overcrowding. The Spanish seem to have enough concrete to petrify their entire coast. I have never been to Benidorm etc but how many tourists really want to live in a concrete jungle for their holidays? The island itself once forested and plenty of water in consequence 200 years ago, is a testimony to how destructive mankind can be. Taking Fuerteventura as an example, we as a species havent long to go!

I am unsure how something described as all inclusive can have significant exceptions though. Nearly all inclusive? Partly all inclusive? 85% all inclusive. I thought ALL meant 100% but perhaps sOmething got lost in translation or travel agents have the same flexibility or inventiveness of language as estate agents.

we took a catamaran trip. crew was pleasant but the stopping place has nothing to see underwater nor fish to catch(for those who wanted to fish). The seacat submarine was worth the experience even for a diver. We hired a car through the hotel (Jeep) that proved to be unserviceable. The hire car staff were very freindly and efficient, picked us up quickly and transferred into another car -which had a defective clutch. Nice people though- in fact all the Spanish people we met were really nice and friendly

We needed a break, knew the area, and wanted to try a different hotel. BIG mistake.
My partner wasn't that mobile and we'd requested extra leg room on the Thomas Cook flight and a quiet location of room not too far from the spa or reception / restaurents. Neither of those happened, the room overlooked the pool 'fun club', and the rep did nothing about it. I can only describe the room as "battered". The furniture was scuffed and so were the walls.
We bailed out and negotiated an upgrade to the Club ourselves. There we got service and good food - at an increased price.
And then came the flight back with someone kicking the back of my seat every 10 seconds the whole four hours.
This isn't a four star hotel.
Go elsewhere and pay more.
We've given up on packages. Independent travel from now on.

I took my son, his wife (expecting number 4) and their 3 other children all under 5 for a half term break and the venue was ideal. Food, pools. children's club with evening half hour disco all meant that weary parents could relax. The gardens were immaculate and everywhere tidied. Particularly enjoyed the on-tap hot chocolate after a swim in the not so hot pools, but then it was February.

In the huge dining room there was often a long queue for the freshly cooked fish, but worth it and for me a vegetarian plenty of choice.

It was very tempting to just laze all day in the hotel complex but a one euro bus ride (children go free) from outside the hotel took us into the nearby town. The First Choice rep could not have been more friendly and helpful giving us local info and ideas.

First time we decided to go all-inclusive on canarean islands and did not regret. The hotel is situated in a quiet place 5 min drive from the more busy Jandia in a quiet place near Butihondo Beach. You can also take the bus but it takes much longer (30-40 min) to Jandia due to many stop-bys at all neighbouring hotels. The views and the beach are breathtaking and pretty empty - not sure if that is the case only at this time of the year.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. You can see that last renovation was a couple of years ago, but everything is in a very good shape, and believe me I've seen enough in various vacations!! Here you have comfortable bed, clean bathroom, safe for free, large balcony with seaview, and very important - it was quiet. Animation took place somewhere else, far from living blocks.
Personnel was very friendly and helpful.
We liked the food - for an all inclusive hotel the choice, taste were quite good. You cannot compare it with 5* places like e.g., Maspalomas Oasis in Gran Canaria or with 4* hotels in Germany but for Spain it was great - we always found something nice, e.g., every evening choics of fish, poultry, meat, and very tasty fruits!!
We went to Feuerteventura to learn windsurfing and here a very important advice - if you would like to learn surfing do not go the Rene Egli school which is advertized everywhere. It seems like they put all the money in advertizing. The school is hopelessly bad in terms of amenities, service, equipment - basically everything a good surfing place should have. There are even no washrooms, changing rooms - nothing. Teachers seem to be students that cannot teach. And it is also overpriced. After we found it out we went to the Robinson School on the Jandia beach, I'd recommend robert who gives great lessons.

This was advertised as a Premier Hotel by the First Choice Brochure but although the facilities may be, the service is definitely not.

On the plus side the rooms are very large. We stayed in block 11 and were pleased with the bed, bathroom and space. The main pool is also very big and there are 3 others which are also a fair size. There are plenty of sun beds and sun terraces, so there was no scramble for a sun bed. The beach is very quiet and clean, but no sun beds or shades.

Now for the BUT.....the brochure said mini bar in room, but it was an empty fridge that we had to stock ourselves from the shop. It advertised 3 extra restaurants in the hotel, but these were all closed - the reason given is that the hotel was only half full so it was not worth opening! Also there was a sports bar that was closed for the same reason. All the drinks (not just beer) in all the bars are on tap, including coffee, so there is no interaction with any of the waiters or staff. It would have been nice to be greeted in the evening dining room by a head waiter or served drinks at dinner (as expected in a Premier Hotel). Although there was plenty of choice at meal times dont expect hot food, you will be disappointed. It is all luke warm at best. It is brought out hot, but none of the food or soup heaters are turned on so it gradually gets colder and colder. We had to regularly ask for hot food to be brought out. The heater was not even connected to the gas supply to heat up the paella!

We tried (with little success) to make conversation with the waiters in the restaurant and bars but they were not really interested and only wanted to clean away the tables.

The hotel was nice and quiet, but had very little atmosphere. We went to the large theatre to see the evening entertainment and were given a whole evening of bingo, next night Mr & Mrs and next Mr and Mrs Occidental. Very Poor. On the plus side there was 1 professional show of chinese acrobats which were good, shame about the rest!

A word of warning - the beach is lovely but there are a LOT of steps so not for the faint hearted and Block 19 and pool are for the nudists.

We had a rest, but would not rush back. If you happy with a 3* this is for you.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a lovely time.
The staff were very attentive - topping up our glasses before we even had chance to reorder! We were all inclusive and were surprised that even champagne was included. The grounds and facilities were well tended and clean. The hotel did not appear to be full, so there were plenty of sun beds around the numerous pools.
Being a vegetarian I usually struggle with food, but there were plenty of different salads, although breakfast was the best meal with the most choice.
Some of the entertainment was good in the evening, we enjoyed the singer in the main bar.
You can catch the bus into Jandia just outside the hotel for 1 euro each way and being the 1st pickup you get a seat as it does get packed, or you can walk along the beach, it takes about an hour and you get to see the chipmunks that live in the rocks, but will come and eat nuts out of your hand, cute.
All in all it is a clean, well run hotel.
